Just skated last night. We had to get dressed and undressed outside. No bags allowed inside. You sign a contact tracing waiver, they take your temp, and you're assigned a seat where you can put your skates, helmet, and gloves on. Have to wear a mask until you go on the ice. Once we were on the ice, no problem or worries. Managed to get beaned by a slapshot my first shift. Had to go for an x-ray this morning, thankfully no fracture, but I have a huuuuuuuuge welt on my arm. I was expecting to be more tired and out of shape.

Bauer Shield For Corona Virus
MyBoxersSayJoe replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Just bought a Concept III I'll mount it on my helmet in a few. I've had a visor on my coaching helmets, I haven't had a fishbowl before. Just looking through it, kind of amazed at the clarity of vision over a cage. I'll check out the additional guard when Bauer releases it. -
Hmmm. Nexus are their higher volume skates, right? I only ask because my Vapors are completely custom, so that boot may not be best for me in stock form. When I had stock Vapors 7EE worked for my forefoot, but I got heel lift. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bauer-Nexus-Skates/193507713577?hash=item2d0df56229:g:zQsAAOSwPKZexAYh

Hmm. I'm now seeing that Marsblade O1 chassis are in stock. Can I order just boots from somewhere? Or will everything I order have chassis and wheels on them? I did check sidelineswap for skates in my size, nothing much near it. Maybe just these cheap Tours in 7R: https://www.hockeymonkey.com/roller-hockey/skates/senior/tour-roller-hockey-skates-volt-kv4-sr.html Or Bauers in &R:https://www.purehockey.com/product/bauer-rs-inline-hockey-skates-senior/itm/36675-41/ Then get a Marsblade 01 chassis wheels and bearings. Then have them mounted and life's good? Okay skates for $400 + shipping & mounting?

I have clunky old leather Bauer Supremes that are like torture devices to my feet. In ice hockey skates, I have custom Vapor APX's that are 6-5/8 EA and 6-3/4 EA. Basically 27 CM x 11 CM on both feet, so that makes my ratio 2.45. Does anyone have a suggestion for a pair of skates for me to just get out and exercise in. Preferably just good enough that I won't have to modify or upgrade anything, but not top of the line since I probably won't be using them all the time once ice rinks open up again.

Just wondering if anyone is taking the time to work on something specific, or what they're doing just to stay in shape or involved with the sport? I broke out my old inline skates and skated a few blocks and got winded. I probably should continue to do that and/or get new inline skates. I have all my stickhandling stuff in my unfinished basement. I should probably work on that as well. There are a few hockey documentaries on Amazon Prime that I watched that really make me miss the game.

they should bring back football-style shoulder pads
MyBoxersSayJoe replied to cause4alarm's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Definitely had a set of Jones shoulder pads. Blue with white plastic. I definitely never got hurt with them. -
Definitely. Bounced my head on the ice as a Learn to Skate kid slammed into the back of my legs. Wear a helmet.

learning hockey at an advanced age
MyBoxersSayJoe replied to Amazinmets73's topic in General Hockey Discussions
@Amazinmets73 Looks great! And something I'm totally guilty of and not even just on jump backs, is not shifting the weight to the inside leg and loading up for the first crossover. For the most part you're nailing it, there are a few times where you're not putting as much weight or pressure to the inside leg on the jump back and you're having the outside leg, which is extended for the stop, do all or most of the work. You're going such a great job with the smooth crossovers in the second video. Nice and level, no bobbing. Fantastic. Seriously, keep up the great work. Have you been playing in pick up or any game situations at this point? -

Adult Hockey Clinic in Central Jersey

Stick and Puck would be the way to go. It's just open ice where you can bring a couple of pucks and work on whatever you'd like. -
Jersey collection from deceased relative
MyBoxersSayJoe posted a topic in General Hockey Discussions
My cousin called me, said her husband’s uncle died. His widow is looking to move his collection of hockey jerseys. He has things like game worn and signed Gretzky (Rangers), Lemieux, original Devils, Russian/USSR etc. all with COAs. Someone offered the widow $300 for the Gretzky jersey and she declined. Does anyone know a way of pricing out these jerseys or auctions that deal specifically with sports memorabilia? Thanks for any help, I should have a list of what’s in the collection by the weekend. -
My friend who had a hip replacement just switched to the Tackla Breezer and he absolutely loves it. Much more protective than whatever the Bauer pants he was using before were.

Listen to Tocchet on one of the recent Spitting Chiclets podcasts. He talks about his relationship with Phil and that seems like it could have been a huge factor in why he wanted Arizona.

Boston Bruins (A2) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (A3)
MyBoxersSayJoe replied to IPv6Freely's topic in First Round
Bruins got sucked into the Leaf's game. Speed and transition instead of a heavy, grinding game. If they can't turn that around, Leafs are going to run away with this round. -
Coaches: What Protective Gear on the Ice?
MyBoxersSayJoe replied to clarkiestooth's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Helmet with visor, skates, gloves. Didn't wear a helmet until I had a kid at a learn to skate session slide into me from behind, take my legs out, and bounce by head off the ice.
