VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne

Played my first game in my new skates. Felt really good, especially once they warmed up a bit and formed a little bit more to my feet. The one issue I had was that I could feel the "seam" on the back of the skate rubbing on my achilles tendon area. I figured it was just something that would break in a bit with use. It wasn't until I got my feet back out that I saw why there was so much pressure there. I'll have to email them and find out what to do about this. I assume they'll just tell me to glue it down and suggest the correct type of glue to use. But we'll see. -
Stopped two shots in a shootout to win 4-3. That felt good after letting in two softies. One was a knucklepuck that was so slow I changed my mind three times on what to do, eventually deciding to butterfly and catch the puck between my legs instead of using my stick. Went off my glove and down between my legs. The other, the shooter lost control of it as I was moving right to left to make the save... and in it goes. Crap. Still, felt good to get the win especially after stopping their two best players in the shootout. I was joking after the game that if they had not shot the puck so hard in the shootout they may have won... Oh, and made a glove save with under 1 second to go in the 3rd period to get it to the SO in the first place (no OT where we play).

Skated in my VH for the first time yesterday. Felt mostly great, except that it felt like I couldn't get my heel all the way down. I put in my yellow superfeet and that feeling went away but then the skate felt too loose. So I went ahead and trimmed the heel part of the red insole and now everything fits great. I still have quite a bit of difficulty getting the skates on and off because the wrap is so good though, but I can spot hear that and pull it out a bit. -
About bloody time I got a chance to try these.

Should clarify, I meant NHL hockey season :P
-
It's not hockey season yet.

You need a green stripe on your pads as well :)

Pictures of Mammoth bag added. Also added CCM RBZ padded shirt and Bauer NME cage.

AC died today. Ouch.

Yea, I quickly left that group. I was hoping for a lot more buy/sell and a lot less stupid questions.

Had a good game tonight. Won 5-1. Great D in front of me. The one goal scored was a fantastic tip that went top corner on the blocker side. No chance at stopping it, though I was deeper in the net than I should have been and if I had been out more it may have cut off the angle on the tip right into me instead of up and over me. Surprised I played so well considering I drove straight from the airport to the rink and was dead tired from a day of flying. With that game my season save % is now .904. I'm pretty pumped about that! Still haven't had a chance to skate in my VH yet :(

Work sends me to the other side of the planet for a week, to a hotel with no wifi, and then complains when I try to expense my roaming data charges (I *did* have an international plan set up but that's only 250MB. As an IT guy I went through that the first day.) Oh well. Also, back on a plane again... At least it's a short flight this time. 5 hours each way with layover is a whole lot better than the 30+ hours each way I did last week!

Brian's knee pads added.

The first breath in of fresh ocean air when I walk out of the airport when I get home after a long trip.
-
Nope. I fail the pencil test horribly with the Makos but the fit is just so good that I've never had any issues there.

Mammoth bag added.

Finally! Today I get to go home. So after 30 hours of travel the first thing I'll be doing when I get home is hitting the ice for a league game. Hopefully I don't pass out on the ice.

Catalogue Review 2015 Bauer Hockey Catalogue

I FINALLY got a chance to try on a Re-Akt 100 helmet. Holy crap, and I thought my Re-Akt was pretty comfortable. The CCM Resistance was pretty good, but the Re-Akt 100 was amazing. -
Beauty. I envy the ice time you're able to get.

That's part of it certainly, but mainly because on the list the Asian cities all had "requires translator" beside them. I'm an inexperienced enough instructor as it is without having to deal with that part. I'll leave those to the guy who has been teaching for decades.

Nice man, congrats! I'm down about 20lbs since I last saw you as well.

Make sure you book Alcatraz tickets way in advance. It's really difficult getting them even the same week.

I don't know if this is "sweet" or not, but driving on the left side of the road is... Odd. But in a fun way. Apologies in advance to the rest of the South African drivers!
