  1. Since when is Koivu a Bauer guy...? I thought he was CCM (and Easton before that). Ryder used Easton last season, if I recall. That looks like the Vinny Prospal Eastons that hattrick always had for sale on his site. i'm guessing for a while because we had his pro return euro 3030's in stock and it look like that prospal except a bit milder
  2. 8rinks? funky goalie gear tehre
  3. are your XXX's black or dark navy?
  4. you suck :P!! let me guess thats a salo stealth, baumgartner vector and a kesler xxx?
  5. im' diggin those gloves
  6. ok so what does an old supreme fit like? An 8000 or 8090? The 8090's heel is too wide for me but the 8000 is perfect because I think the 8000s fit more like Nike V's if these skates fit anything like 8000's and are actually good as people say they are, I might have to take this into consideration for my next pair
  7. Skates used in - Bauer 8000 Fit Right when I bought them I knew that these were perfect insoles. They cupped my heel perfect and everything fit just so much tighter and I felt it made my skates fit the way they're supposed to. 10/10 Comfort In the beginning it was really comfortable for me because I think the getting used to the insole part was super comfortable. I don't know why but it was. These are such an improvement over my Bauer ETF insoles. It feels as comfortable is it does fit. 10/10 Performance I was talking to my co-worker who bought these for his XX's and he said that he couldn't feel the difference at all between the Superfeet and the ETFs. Too bad for him :). During the game I noticed that I could skate harder longer and at the end of the game I wouldn't be anywhere near as fatigued. The hard heel cup keeps your feet straight and realigns your legs and body (supposedly) so it's a definate plus to my game. 10/10 Conclusion Great insoles. I was never planning on buying these but no other insole fit in my 8000s without my toe getting jammed in the toebox. After reading up that these were supposed to be made for Bauer skates I said what the heck. I kept getting blisters with my ETF insoles and sure enough, Superfeet fixed that problem. Even with those performance socks or dri-fit socks or whatever my blisters could not be solved. At first I thought it was just a break-in thing but it turned out to be the skate or insole. In fact, the 'performance' socks just kept my feet slippery dry which turned out to cause more blisters for me. If anyone has the same problem as me, I reccommend these. Sure the $35 CDN price tag looks a little costly but it's so worth it. Go for it. Overall Rating 10/10
  8. so far all the customers I've seen go haven't come back with any problems but thats probably because the Shift stopped selling after the first line of RBK came out. Mostly I see kids between 11-16 with Shifts because of the price and because parents think it could be similar to the XXX
  9. thats the 04 model 04s were XVs with 8000 toe caps and solid steel
  10. shifts fit like the XX's and have the 8000 toe cap with the xx outsole and LS2 solid steel instead of LS1 perf. Basically it's a better deal than the XX but I'm guessing the only reason the XX is more expensive is because it's the XX.
  11. Product - Nike Quest V-10 Shin Pads Fit - Right off the bat these shin pads felt real comfy. My knee fit right into the donut and it seems as though after a few games of usage the orange foam parts start to form to your leg. The extra flap at the top of the knee cap stays down and stays out of your way so you don't have to worry about that bugging you during game. The straps that come on these pads are non-stretchy. At first it felt like some blood-sucking thing was laying away on my leg but after a few games you get used to it and if your like me, you'll like it better than the stretch straps. 9/10 Protection - This is where I question the shin pads. I have no clue if theres something wrong with the V-10 lineup but there are times where you don't feel a thing and you really feel it. I guess the right way to say it is there are times when you need to really rely on it, and it's not there for you. I'm not scared to block shots with these. 7.5/10 Weight - Weight isn't something that bothers me too much. In comparison with my old Easton Octanes these are a bit bulkier and heavier but I guess thats all the extra protection. 9.5/10 Durability - It's been durable theres no doubt about it. All I see is the yellowing of the white and a few puck marks. No structural damage and nothing that would compromise it's performance. 9/10 Intangibles - Maybe it's just me but I'll go back to saying, there are times when it's not there for you. If you want something that you can rely on 100%, I don't recommend Bauer or Nike. I would say get RBK/Jofa, but these are comfortable.. I'll give them credit for that. Conclusion - Not going to buy this again, I'm going to go Jofa/RBK next. Final Score - 8.8/10

    Bauer Vapor X

Product - Bauer Vapor X Gloves Fit - These are tighter fitting than the Vapor XXX's as they aren't as wide which is fine by me. As I mentioned in the XXX review, I'm down with any type of fit as long as it doesn't have an annoying thumb getting in the way of the index finger. There was a slight discomfort in the glove when I got them however, in the index finger theres some sort of liner to make your finger feel more comfortable. That somehow got twisted around and would never stay in it's place so that was a little negative point for me. 9/10 Weight - Since it has no poly inserts of plastic inserts it's pretty light. It's basically all foam, shell and the palm that make up the weight but like I said, its light. 10/10 Mobility - When you try this on in the store it feels really nice. After the first few games, when you try it on it's rock hard. Don't worry though, thats just the pigskin palm. As you progress through your game the sweat will soften it up and it'll be soft and smooth again, only until your done that is. Same thing as XV, XX and XXX. It features 3 piece index and 2 piece fingers but not flexlock thumb. 8.5/10 Protection - Ouch, my thumb! I took a few falls in some of my games and some of them were just tiny falls but somehow my thumb started to ache. I've had numerous thumb problems with these gloves but the remainder of the hand stayed fine. 7.5/10 Durability - Since I used the Black/Black model you never really noticed any wear and tear on the glove. I didn't have any rips or scuffs on the glove. The only part that did wear out was the palm but even still, the palm wore out very slowly. 9/10 Intangibles - Well, these were my 2nd pair of gloves since starting hockey. The only reason I got these was because I badly needed an upgrade over my Hespeler GX200s. The $89.99 CDN price tag is a good price for the glove but there are other SMU products that are basically the same glove with better features for the same price. After losing one glove at the rink after a Stick & Puck session, truth be told I didn't miss it too much. Don't get me wrong though, it's a good glove and I'd freely recommend it to anyone whos looking for a decent glove with a durable palm. Conclusion - I didn't regret losing them and I didn't regret buying them. Final Score - 8.8/10
  13. Product - Bauer Vapor XXX Gloves Fit - I'm a big fan of the loose fit at the same time being a fan of the tight fit. Basically any glove you give me, I will like it except Easton because of the annoying locked thumb in the way. It feels snug and loose at the same time while staying on my hand. 10/10 Weight - Very light. If I were to compare it to the XX's I'd say this dominates it in this area. 10/10 Mobility - I love the ultra thin palms it comes with but as we all know, ultra thin = ultra weak. The thin palms combined with the 3 piece index and 2 piece fingers make this glove really mobile. It also features a Flex-Lock thumb like the XX which allows the thumb to move while remaining locked which is always a plus because it makes life simpler when picking up the stick off the ice. 10/10 Break-in - Maybe it's all in my head but I don't think there was a break-in period at all for these gloves. If there was it took all but 1 game to break them in. 10/10 Protection - Might not be a big of a tank as the XX's but it's still very protective. I've received a lot of whacks to my hand and I've felt nothing. The only time I did feel something was when a puck hit my hand but all I could feel was the impact and not the pain. 9.5/10 Durability - The glove itself is doing fine but the palm is starting to wear out. I've had these gloves for about 2 months and I'm getting the same kind of wear I did on my Vapor X's after a usage of about 1 year. The plus side to this is that Bauer included an extra set of palms so you can get more life out of your gloves but after that it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to pay the cash and get it repalmed. 9/10 for the glove, 7.5/10 for the palm Intangibles - The glove looks sharp and it feels great. It's light, protective and it includes an extra set of palms. Personally I would probably settle with the Supreme 90's next but until these die, I will love them to death :P Beware of the price tag if you consider these though. Conclusion - Overall it's a good glove at a big cost but in terms of performance you get what you pay for. Final Score: 9.4/10
  14. Nike Quest Zero-G Wood Stick Curve: Lemieux Flex: 220 Blade- Seems like a Quest 1 blade which I like. It's not on the heavy side but it's not exactly light either. The feel is like any other wood stick and the shots just seem to come off of it with ease. No cracks and its still stiff. 10/10 Flex- The stick came in 220 which is probably around a 100 but since I had to cut it down about 1.5 inch it's even stiffer. It's not the greatest stick for wristers but it's really good with slappers. 8.5/10 Stickhandling/Recieving passes- Great feel to the stick as it's wood. Stickhandling is just like the Flexlite 12 which is ideal for me. When receiving passes the blade feels solid and reliable. 10/10 Shooting- Combined with the flex and the curve it's not the greatest for accurate wristers but it does make for good hard fast rising wristers. I'm not one who can snap that well but slappers fly off this stick better than my XXX Lite, but since I use stickhandling and wristers more than my slappers i'm going to give this an 8.5/10 Weight/Balance- I have to say when this came in the mail I was a tad disappointed with all the hype. It honestly wasn't all that light as I thought it would be but I don't really mind. The balance is decent and theres not much else to say about this department. 9/10 Durability - The shaft is an absolute tank and the blade has held up really well. 9/10 Shaft Shape/Cosmetics/Materials - Double Concave shaft makes for a great feeling shaft and it also has a bubbly texture for I'm guessing a little bit of grip. The looks of the stick are okay.. they remind me alot of Easton for some reason. The materials of the stick are: Vented Aspen Core/Graphite/Fibreglass. The stick is hollow but it's not 'composite' hollow. It's just a small hole but it's still hollow. 8.5/10 Conclusion- It was worth my $20 even though it's a tad too stiff and the curve is a little hard to get used to. I got lucky hearing the news that a Nike Store in Toronto had them on this board so thanks to who spread that. All in all it serves it's good purpose as a backup and it can at times fire rockets. 9/10
  15. Nike Quest V-10 Elbow Pads Fit - They're fit great. They are comfortable and fit snug. As for slippage, it can at times slip out of place when falling or if you get knocked pretty hard. 8/10 Protection - I've been hurt a few times with these on but since I got such a deal on them I couldn't refuse. One time I was basically tripped up and i landed on my tailbone and my right elbow and it felt like the center of the elbow was blowing up. I'm not sure what the Nike Air is for but if it was there for protection, didn't do a very good job. Sometimes when I'm playing the boards, my elbow gets jammed into the glass and I can definately feel some impact there. I've never had these problems when I first got these so it could be a wear factor. 6.5/10 Weight - I'm not one who complains about weight too much but these are pretty light. 10/10 Durability - I've had these for about a year now and they've been holding up fine. Still looks somewhat new and doesn't have any tears or rips yet. 10/10 Intangibles - At first these were doing really good for me and I got these because they were dirt cheap. They get really comfy and flexy after you break them in and are good if you don't get seriously dirtied up on the ice. Yes I hurt my elbows a few times but they do hold up against the average falls. Conclusion - I might go with the V-14s or I might go down the RBK path. Either way I'm not unsatisfied and I'm not super satisfied with these. Final Score - 8.8/10

    RBK 8K Helmet

RBK 8K (Medium Black) Visor - Oakley 2.0 Fit - Fit is very good. The dial at the back and tool-less adjustment makes it perfect for the perfect fit. The soft cushion padding inside the helmet is great and it easily molds to your head. (Visor also went on without any problems) 10/10 Ventilation - One of the best things about this helmet is the ventilation. It keeps me cool during games and I don't sweat as much as I would in a Nike/Bauer 4000/0004. 10/10 Protection- I'd say it has decent protection. I've been knocked around pretty hard in this and I only got a slight buzz but other than that, good enough protection for me. 9/10 Weight - When I first got it, I couldn't believe how light it was. You probably already know how light it is. 10/10 Durability - It's light so it might seem weak but it's not that weak or flimsy. It's held up very well with the exception of a few scratches. The composite subshell does it's job. 9.5/10 Intangibles- My manager gave me this bucket for free at the end of one of my days in at work. RBK gave this to us to give to a customer for a warranty replacement but it turned out that the FitClip was a little mangled up so they sent us another one to give to him. Turns out RBK said we could throw it away but what good would that do anyone? :) You get what you pay for I guess. For $200 CDN it's a good helmet, if your willing to pay that much that is. If you want to save money, buy the 8000 or wait for the lower model RBK helmet to come out. Conclusion - I was in love with the Nike 0004 helmet and Bauer 4000 helmet so when this dies i'll probably end up going back to a NBH 4500. The fit on this helmet is great and all but I still think that the classic yellow foam is good as well. Final Grade 9.7/10
  17. The Vapor XX shaft, was a Europe only product. There is also a XXX lite shaft, but it is Europe only. There is a thread with pictures of it somewhere. i never understood why they never release that in North America? I'm pretty sure if they released XXX Lite shaft here it'd be a hit. Europe gets a lot of weird stuff we don't get like Bauer 4000-8000 visors, Nike Quest Visors etc;. Is it some kind of patent issue that they're not able to release it here or what?
  18. Bauer Vapor XXX Lite P92 Naslund 77 Med Flex Blade- WhenI used this stick I noticed the blade was super thin, had amazing feel and was stiff enough for my liking. I also like how the blade doesn't chip as easy as I expected it to. 9.5/10 Shaft and Flex- I'm a big fan of the wheelbarrow handle but this stick needs no wheelbarrow AT ALL. The double concave feels perfect in my hands and with the lite stick'um, it feels awesome. The flex doesn't feel overly whippy but it still feels whippy enough for whip fans out there as the flex is perfect right in the middle. Not too flexy and not too stiff. 10/10 Feel (Passing and Stickhandling) -Beautiful is the word I would use to describe it. The thin blade makes it easier for me to stickhandle. Feel on this stick is phenominal, it's hard to describe it in words. 9/10 Shots - When you first use this stick it takes some adjusting. The blade feels a little dead in your hands the first game or two but once you get used to it, it's great. My slap shots and wrist shots have definately become noticeably faster and harder. 9/10 Weight - Unlike any other super light stick out there like XN10 or Stealth which weighs 395g, this weighs 420g. Now I know there are people out there who are thinking, 'oh no, thats too heavy.' It's not heavy at all. Personally, the Stealth feels way too light for me. The 420g this stick weighs is perfect in a sense that it has perfect balance. It's not heavy in the shaft and it's definately not heavy in the blade. 10/10 Durability - I've had this stick since the end of December and I have to tell you, I thought it was going to break somewhere between the end of January to the mid of February. The stick proved me wrong and has lasted me till now and it's taken it's fair share of beatings. The stick has blocked shots, has been slashed and has even had players and goalies land on it. At this rate I wonder if the blade will wear out to the point I can't use it anymore before it actually breaks. I don't know if I got lucky or if I am one of the lucky few that got a more reliable one of the XXX Lites because there have been quite a few cases where people on this board have broken one in a matter of weeks or even days. It's a risk you take when you buy the stick, but then again thats the risk you take with the other OPS out on the market too with the exception of some. 9/10 Intangibles - So far this stick has excelled in all of it's departments and I don't have any complaints except for it costing so much to buy. The grip is still there and the decals remain in fair condition. Conclusion - Stick looks great, feels great, shoots great and is just plain great. Sure it gets marks easy but thats because its white. I will probably get suckered in to shelling out the big bucks to get another or I may give other sticks a shot. It's been great for me and hopefully will continue to be. 9.4/10 Addition: If anyone cares, my XXX Lite is still alive since December and it's not even the NikeBauer one. Also, NikeBauer one snapped easier for me than the Bauer one did. On my 3rd XXX Lite but this one is an iD version. Update: On the iD version it looks like they put an extra kind of laminate on the blade because there's something peeling on my blade. I guess it explains why the NikeBauer logo on the blade doesn't peel off like on the retail ones. (Maybe an assumption, the last NBH XXX Lite that I had, the logo peeled off awfully easy but I don't know if they did anything to it recently or if it's just a thing for the iD sticks) Update 2: I guess the durability gets worse for me. 1st one lasted me 1 year and then some, 2nd one lasted me 8 months, 3rd one (iD) lasted me about 5 months and my Kyle Turris Pro Stock lasted me 2 games.
  19. i find it harder to do toe drags with pure square toes than it is with curves like Naslund
  20. maybe more will come later on i know endure shaft & blade is out though
  21. i noticed that going from C+ to LS is a big difference. It took me a while to get used to LS and I hated it but now I love it. To me I would say LS gives a better stride but on C+ i'm more stable
