catalogue review 2016 Bauer Hockey Catalogue
mjpisat replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2016 Product Catalogue Reviews
So.......I was in makos and going back to a more traditional skate. Settled on Jetspeed and supremes best suited for my foot shape. By chance stumbled on a deal for brand new Jetspeed for $180! Really like them but one thing I didn't think too much about and miss is the flexible tendon guard of the mako. The supreme 190 had it and the new s180 does as well. So I'm looking to maybe buy supreme and ditch the JD. So...the 190 are $415 and s180 $500. I don't really need a top of the line stiff boot. Plus not sure about the super thick 190 tongue. I'm not that worried about the s180 being more expensive if it's the right boot. But I do really like the fit and feel of the JS. It's not overly stiff. Any suggestions on which to go with that'll give similar stiffness and feel to JS? -

So this thread has inspired me to go back and concentrate on the basics and work on things I kind of skipped. I've been playing for 3 years 8 months now. Past year I haven't been able to make it out as much as previous 2.5 years. Played ball/street hockey as a kid but never skated much. Started at 34, will be 39 in October. So not old, but not young. I was going to start a new thread but figured would post here. If this ain't cool, let me know. Anyway, first time I recorded myself. My biggest take away was I'm not bending my knees enough and have very short strides. Critique away. -

I been at it for 3.5 yrs and didn't even attempt to start trying backward crossovers until 2 yrs in. You are doing it right by taking the time concentrating on the skating. -

Yes. I'm 3.5 years in and will only stop that way in games. Gotta force yourself to do it the other way. I started st 34 yrs old. It's tough. -
I have volume issues in mine too. Trimming the side of the tongue really helps? What did you use to trim it? I'm so mad. Baked me be again after a year of use and created a problem area that never bothered me before on the inside of my right foot around the ankle bone.

Question. I have a Wagner heat gun with multiple temp settings. How hot to set when working out spot fitting?

Good man! Bend your knees more. Looks like you're leaning over the top half of your body vs bending knees. Strides more of a 45 degree angle vs straight back. That is a huge improvement in a short period of time. What rink is that? -
I've had mine for a year now only bake them once when I first got them. So the other night I decided to bake them again at home. I followed the MLX video had the oven at 200 and the morning each side for eight minutes. 16 minutes total. Pinched the ankle area to get better heel lock. Forgot how mold able these are. Can't wait to try them.

I may be imagining things but I swore I saw the new warrior helmet in the pdf or on the warrior website. But it's not on either. It was the warrior pxx three letters or something helmet. Weird. -

My feet are always cold in mako 2's. Can't tell if they are actually cold or its circulation. I don't feel I tie them too tight and I don't get the pins/needles feeling like when circulation is cut off. They just feel cold.

Are these mako bumps? On the outside of both legs a little above the ankle bone I have round sores. It's gotta be the eyelets. It didn't happen in my mako 1's until a few months in. I sold them and bought mako 2's. They were fine at first too but now it's happening. I was under the impression that mako bumps happened further up the leg toward the very top of the boot. This lines up perfectly with one of the eyelets. Is this from the way I skate? Can't figure it out.
