JOFA is BACK!!! Any idea on release dates?
Cosmic replied to A2rhino's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I called CCM and the guy that answered the phone said this is releasing in September 2026 (he said, "I cannot give you an exact date, would you like an estimated date?" I said, sure" and he said "Sept 2026" ... I thought I would get a more generic time region like Fall or Summer or whatever so I was happy with his response. I asked about helmets and I cannot recall exactly what he said, either "Do not know yet," "Cannot say," or "Will have to wait and see." Cool guy/ A++ for customer service as far as I am concerned. I need a new pair of elbows as I am still using my CCM U+ Crazy Lights from 2013 or so. -
I am looking for runners for my Makos which are losing steel, and if I cannot find runners then I am buying the Warrior skates when my Makos run out of steel
-
I somehow managed to lose my CF9 shot blockers in my garage after pickup last week, and am trying to buy a new pair. This site will not let me check out: https://cf9-ca.myshopify.com/collections/all Does anyone know where I can buy these to get shipped to the USA?

Girdles: CCM Jetspeed vs Bauer ACP Pro
Cosmic replied to pucks_putts's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I actually bought the JAMM off of eBay. There is ZERO spine protection. I am not planning on getting crosschecked there, but if it happens, I would want some spine protection there. I did not even try it on and ended up returning it. -
I am not accusing the guys who loved the Warrior skates of being paid influences. Maybe they are legit enthusiastic? Or maybe they are paid to wear the skates as they are low level pros or get the skates free etc? I don't know. But yea I would let my interest in these skates prevent me from getting the skates available now as my Makos have a lot of life left in them (the boots are in perfect shape as I wear full shot blockers); so even if I cannot get steel for 9 months, I should be able to hold out until the Warriors launch.

I actually went to the local shop to try on True skates, which I had been hearing were the likely next suspect for us Mako guys. The guy who fitted me and baked the skates seemed more impressed by what great shape my Makos were in than by how much he thought I would enjoy the True skates. He showed me an IG post of the Warrior skates with these mint lime wheels and white chassis on his phone and I was like, "Yea, so? I mean yea the colors look cool but I am not an inliner." He was like, "Hold off on the True skates and look into the Warrior skates/ hold off until they launch and then decide." And I was like "Meh, ok fine I will look into the Warriors when I get home." So I did, and I mean maybe the vids I watched were paid sponsorships or whatever but the people wearing the skates seems pretty impressed. I should add that the shop did not have my size in the True skates; he baked goale skates to get me sized and see if I liked the skates. I kinda did and was seriously considering ordering my size and buying them but he kinda talked me out of the purchase (which I appreciate- nothing worse than the sleezy slaesman who is just pushing stuff on customers and this guy was next level not that guy). So yea I am pretty enthusiastic about the Warrior skates; and if they are lame then I will keep hunting sidelineswap for CXN runners.

How are you liking the JAMM? I am considering guying one a shot. -
Thanks for the response @sturdy22. I think I will save the $$ on the swaps and just apply it to the Warriors when they launch (or when they go on sale after they have been available for a minute if my steel holds out that long. @IPv6Freely I just started hunting for CXN runners. I saw a listing on Sideline Swap and thought I scored and then saw it was an old listing. The sage shall continue.

Does anyone have a recommendation for what to do with my Easton Makos that are running thin on their runners? I thought I bought an extra pair of steel but I cannot find it after 3 moves. Anyway, my steel is running thin. Size 9.5EE Makos with 280mm steel. What do I do if I cannot find replacement steel? Swap out the holders with Tuuk? Or wait for the Warrior skates? I figure I have 6-9 months to figure it out before the steel gets down to unplayable.

Does anyone know where to find this? Looks pretty perfect.

This is great news. I am just getting back into playing after a 2 year layoff due to CoronaPacolpyse, and love the idea of having something available when my Makos are done.

I loved the CCM P30, but since it is not super aggressive in any way and just subtle in all categories, I guess it was not a big seller and has since been discontinued. I took a look at the P90TM in store today. It looks decent'ish, may be worth a try, but does not seem to be it. Just looking at blade pattern charts, the Sherwood PP14 looks perfect, but has that been discontinued? I cannot find it on any sites. I am not opposed to going the ProStockHockey route if anyone has a link to a stick that is a P30 clone. I am RH, 95 flex.

I caught an edge and landed hard on my left glute and yes, I felt it. Had a deep bruise there for awhile. Considered switching to the Bauer Supreme girdle as it seems to have a lot more padding there but just figured I can live with it when I land hard on the glute next time. I do like your idea of supplementing some padding in there though.

Are the newer Ribcore skates the highest volume CCM skate?
Cosmic replied to beardacus's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I have never tried on Ribcor but I was considering them as a next skate, so I am familiar with the confusion. It is my understanding that although they are low volume, they are the most accommodating/ pliable to baking. So, it is a bit confusing, take it for what it's worth. -
Reebok 20K Pro was actually a retail shin. I got a pair in 2014 or 2015, I believe and am still using them. I love them, except I wish they just had a bit more cushion in the knee. Aside from that they are total tanks and remarkably light considering how much Franken protection they provide otherwise (aside from the lack of knee cushion). I have taken so many pucks in the ankle area where these shine, and no other pads cover. Also, the long outer guard that wraps around the calf has seen a lot of hard shots. Somehow, despite it being real think with minimal cushion, it has always done me right.

Base Sticks - Has anyone used one?
Cosmic replied to ParabolicActivity's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I used a BASE blade and it was pure quality. I ordered extra stiff thinking that since I am a big tough guy and have snapped and deteriorated some blades that X-Stiff would be my match. I was so wrong, and not the big tough guy I thought I was apparently. The guy who took my order advised that Extra Stiff is insane stiffness and advised against it, but I am stubborn and did not take his advice. Should have gone with the standard stiff- but anyway score 2 for BASE for the experience. The rep was correct, and the blade that was delivered was spot on for what I ordered. I did not love the curve as I thought I would, but again that's on me not BASE. If they made the P30 curve then I'd buy my next stick from them. -
When Did You Get Bored With Acquiring New Hockey Gear?
Cosmic replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
When one realizes you cannot blame your gear on your mistakes anymore, then buying new gear stops becoming fun. Seriously though, for me it was just about comfort. I do not like being distracted by gear that fits me funny when playing ice hockey (or riding motorcycles). It just requires perfect focus to succeed in ice hockey, I find, and stuff that fits or feels funny just drags focus away. -
Looking for P28 type curve that's a bit more closed
Cosmic replied to Ryan91330's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Does anyone know which RH pros are using P90TM? I may try to find a pro stock. I was hoping to grab the P90TM when it comes to retail, but the lack of maximum height bothers me. I like a short, tall blade so I can make contact once in awhile with pucks bouncing around in front of the net on rebounds. The extra weight does not bother me, and I figure it is more than made up for if I can find a blade short in length. I was using the P30 and loved it, but I my sticks are all bashed up pretty good (mostly from defensemen aggressively lifting and chopping down on my stick when I am standing in front of the net) and I need a new one. -

Yea I was under the impression that this was coming to retail. Perhaps I was mistaken. I hope it is still coming. -

Cosmic replied to Ryan91330's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Does anyone know the scoop on this? I got tied up with some stuff and have been out of the game since I was all amped up and calling CCM on the daily back at this time. My stick is getting creaky and I need . new one, and want to try this curve if anyone knows an approximate release date. (Or should I just call CCM again?) -

Got an email from CCM that theP30 is being discontinued. They did not say when the last batch would be put on sticks. I am cool with this; I think the P90TM will be better anyway. -

The blade height of the Warrior at the hell looks tallest. Is this the case? Which one is that? The P28 pro stock? -

Cosmic replied to Ryan91330's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I’m curious about the length of the P90T. I consider the P30 to be a short blade lengthwise. Once I get to medium length (P88) I find that stickhandling becomes a bit more challenging. i think the P28 is also a short blade lengthwise; I just don’t like how (as mentioned) the kink starts so close to the heel. Not only does it give a small area for backhands, but catching passes on the heel becomes a bit of a problem for me when moving and trying to time when the puck will hit the “wall” (and not the ramp) of the blade face. I have watched better players; they don’t seem to suffer from these nuances that plague hacks such as myself- but these are issues I need to consider when studying the curves for potential purchase. This P90T keeps sounding better and better.
