  1. It is called marketing. Apple and so many others do it, too.
  2. I find it ironic that this board of gear whores is even interested in a pre-fab butt end! One of the essential core joys of owning the hockey stick is taping the blade and making your own personalized customized butt end! A pre-fab butt end? Patooey!!
  3. How about Rawlings hockey equipment in general? Oh, and would the Fox glow puck apply here? The glow wasn't a bad thing, especially along the boards, the comet tail on the other hand...... If you needed the glow to follow the puck, do us a favor and don't watch hockey. Of all of Bettman's really bad ideas, that was easily #1. Nothing did more to turn off the traditional hockey fan than that stupid puck. Did the glowing puck get more people to watch hockey? Obviously not. I used to tape the Finals every year. Those years I wouldn't do it.
  4. Cooperalls were not a bust. The girdle still sells strong 25 years later. The long pants were used by all three Canadian major junior leagues for a number of years. The NHL banned the Flyers and Whalers from wearing the long pants. The pants worn by the Flyers were the first time a black silhouette was presented all the way down the leg. No NHL team had black socks at that time. Some NHL goalies did not like the all black leg when looking for the puck. Once the NHL banned the long pants the end was in sight. The NHL banned the long pants to keep a uniform look across the league. The original Cooperalls were offered with short shells back then, too. Hardly a bust.
  5. Anybody mention the ugly sister of the LocJaw, the Bauer Harpoon Latch system on replacement blades? I just had to heat one up in an old Easton shaft! Timing is everything.
  6. Bauer Endure OPS was a bust. CCM 952 woodies with the honeycomb shaft were a bust. CCM Edge skates were a bust. A lot of Mission protective was a bust.
  7. The Little Caesars AAA Bantam team won the 2008 USA Hockey National Championship in April at the Ice House. The team gloves were the same color pattern made by Fury.
  8. These custom Eagle gloves were from Little Caesars team at least 6, 7 years ago. A friend of mine gave them to me to add to my collection. They are all leather including the palm.
  9. That is how my Vapor XXXX glove custom for Team Canada Jrs from last winter's World Championships are built, single layer nash. The stick is right up against your hand for max feel and control.
  10. You are right.....the stock X72's are great gloves. But myself and DarkStar can attest.....the custom's in Tufftek are WELL beyond the Portofino X72's. I totally agree. The x72 I tried on was the Tufftek with the MSH2. It was difficult for me to not purchase them right then and there. They are next level, for sure. Had I not been purchasing custom One95s at the time (and already own three pairs of gloves) they would have followed me home. . . Even though I own a ridiculous number of gloves, I am waiting for my stock order of Eagle PPFs to come in. Then I might just decide whether or not to go for custom Eagles with Tufftek. Spreedizzle's gloves were just too nice. I should have kept them!! Hey, Christmas is right around the corner and my birthday is coming up. Not that I need a reason............
  11. Was about 10 weeks in total if I remember correctly. Long enough for me to build excessive anxiety over their arrival. ;) Also....Just got back from game #1 in the new gloves......and right out of the box I have to say that they are the best feeling gloves that I have ever owned. They feel broken in straight out, no binding, no stiffness, just butter. I think that they are even lighter than my Carbon custom MIA MB-33's without plastic inserts. Simply unreal. No other glove company will ever get any of my business from here forward. B) Even I was nervous about delivery after placing the order! When they arrived at the shop last week, though, I knew Spry would love these puppies. They are so comfortable brand new. Great job by Eagle!
  12. NBH has corrected the sizing length issue of the ONE90 skate with the new ONE95. The ONE95 will match true to previous NBH sizing. During the skate seminar at the dealer meeting in October, they had a size 7 Vapor XXXX and a size 7 ONE95 boot sawed in half. The two halves of each model matched up perfectly together from the heel to the toe box to show how the sizes were now exactly the same between Vapor and Supreme. BTW, for the shop guys, its always a learning tool to saw a boot in half and study the guts of the boot to see how its layered up in manufacturing. We recently cut a 7000 in half!
  13. The Vapor XXX Lite is still available on re-order through 3/08 as long as product is in stock. If you are looking for a particular Vapor XXX Lite don't wait too long since once they are out-of-stock from NBH, that will be the end of production.
  14. My order is scheduled to be shipped October 18. This is for First Line Dealers.
  15. hap, nice uni's but you need a logo on that jersey!
  16. Never got it back. Sorry. Anything to write home about? Not really, its just t-shirts and hats. JMHO............
  17. Judging by comments in the other thread about online hockey buying, there seems to be about just as many success or failure stories with online buying as with shopping at your LHS. If you run a crappy LHS or a crappy online site, you are still crappy.
  18. Hockey retailer trade association: the roster would change every month. Plus, most shops with their barely literate kids wouldn't bother to join. Not all, but most.
  19. hey Rook, Forgot your bucket and your nut hutt!
  20. There are companies that come to our rink all winter and digitally shoot game pix. Then they set up the pix on computers in the lobby to sell same day. They take great pictures but charge $$$$.
  21. I thought the thumb on all the Warrior glove samples I tried on was a problem. It just wasn't comfortable and did not flex properly. could anybody who has used the Warrior gloves this season comment?
  22. Some hockey companies will sell product within a category to dealers at little to no profit to gain market share on a specific price point. Then within the same category they will over price the product of a different price point to regain lost profit. They have gained market share and exposure witin the category to strengthen the brand name. They are killing the competition within the category.
  23. Then if there are labor costs and the cost of the machinery, it really doesn't cost $8 to make a Synergy, does it? Add in the costs of R & D and it still adds up to more than $8. Could you detail your source of information for this cost per Synergy? I know a few people interested to find out.
  24. I was at the other pro shop in my area. His Warrior stock for this time of year was still pretty deep. The pro shop in the rink I play at also said his Warriors didn't sell through half as well as he expected. I still see more players with Easton and NikeBauer OPS than Warrior, no matter how limited Warrior distribution is. 1 out of every 20 players might have a Warrior. We are having a Bantam AAA Minor tourney this week-end with 16 teams from around the US in the building. These players from Texas, Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philly, Westchester, and NJ did not have very many, if any, Warrior OPS with them.
