  1. Thanks for the tips guys. We really haven't tried anything to alleviate the issue. He just got the machine. If we can dial it in and reduce that burring I may keep the two new sets of V-Steel I just bought. Otherwise I was thinking these polished runners are going to be way too much work to debur assuming you're trying to keep the polished surface intact.
  2. A buddy of mine just got a Sparx. It works okay, but the steel seems to burr a lot when we use it. LS3 and Step V-Steel. Any way to lessen this on an automated machine?
  3. SPARX doing a $100 off Black Friday code this year?
  4. What are the construction/feature differences between the Senior and Junior RX3 sticks? How about the Junior lies? Are they different than what's listed on the chart?
  5. I finally ran into a SPARX machine last week at Lettermen's in Blaine MN. That's right by the famous Super Rink. They had two machines going as well as the hand sharpeners. I told them I wanted the SPARX machine to do our skates. The worker put one skate in each machine and they were done in a couple of minutes. I did not count the passes. When they were done they took them out and threw them on the counter, no edge checker or hdi. The finish looked great but there were a few burrs left and one of the edges was way off. Not good. My point here is that this shop can't be making a very good name for the SPARX machine.
  6. I understood the Byonic Blades shipped with a 9/10 profile. Now I read on your Instagram page that the junior sizes come with an 8/9 profile??? Interesting. Also, when will the DNA coated Byonic Blades be available?
  7. I thought that you should have LS3 profiled before use. Just what I had always heard because of the toe shape. Maybe LS4 is closer to Step out of the box?
  8. "Very light" and wishing the steel were taller. Obviously the taller the heavier. You say it "holds a good edge" but could be harder. Can you please explain what you mean?
  9. Thanks. A guy wouldn't know that just going to their website.
  10. How do you get the sharpener for $799? I have it in my cart on the website and it's $899 with one wheel.
  11. I don't care if you "push hard" on the wheel or not. The edges are even and the blade width does not change so of course the depth will change with the radius.
  12. No, that is what I'm talking about. The depth will determine that radius. My sharpener, when discussing roh, always speaks in thousandths of an inch.
  13. What tool? So when you put a 1/2" wheel on how do you know it's giving you a 1/2" hollow?
  14. Wild starting at least three rookies. New guy Greenway should play in place of Ennis. Soucy, who's played 3 NHL games will be paired with Spurgeon on D according to Michael Russo. Trial by fire!
  15. Can that happen so easily? I have a good sharpener just down the street but all I can check at home is edge evenness. How would a person even know how much his profile has changed?
  16. Still pretty early. You'd think the manufacturer would have set a couple of them up to run indefinitely to find the weak points. I remember Honda used to test motorcycle engines by running them at redline for 24 hours at a time.
  17. Do you guys know when the Nexus skate line will be refreshed? I believed the last update was June 2016?
  18. You guys are seriously comparing this to the little Sparx machine?
  19. Mine's good. Unless somethings bent I don't see how it could be inaccurate.
  20. I never noticed that. So they just ignore the exchange rate? Or it's a Canadian discount?
  21. Just picked up a pair of nos Yellows from ebay for $24. One thing I would assume is that the new Carbon footbeds are lighter. ???
