I just meant skating backwards in general with the flatter radius of the Quad at the back of the blade.
-
What about skating backwards?
-
Didn't want to beat this anymore and I know this isn't specifically about the skate but I want to clarify something about the Pulse TI. I know the runners that come in the Ultrasonics have the Quad profile. But not the replacement Pulse TI runners at lhs? Standard 10' radius?
-
Thanks!
-
Two questions about these skates: Is this Pulse steel Quad profile exactly the same as the ProSharp Quad0? How hard (expensive) is it to change out the tongues on the retail skate?
-
I might know someone interested.

Where are you? Twin Cities?

Yes, that's my point. Not buying without being able to try or return. If this True company wants to make inroads with their new and somewhat obscure (I don't know a single person that owns them) product then they are going to have to do things a bit differently. Of course they claim their product is better and different. Well guess what? We're happy (enough) with our current skate brand and it will take a try or some kind of convincing to switch. Somehow you've got to get people in them and on the ice. Short story. Back in the day when I was super into motorcycles I was driving my car home through an adjacent city and noticed a motorcycle model in a line of bikes outside a dealership. It was a model I had always been interested in that I had only read about in magazines. I turned around and inquired and the owner gave me a bit of a quiz about my riding experience, asked what size of helmet and gloves I wore, and asked how long I'd be gone. I absolutely loved it and couldn't stop grinning in my helmet. The next day I was at that dealership with my trade in. Never, ever would have happened without that dealer offering a test ride. Maybe that isn't a great analogy and maybe I just have to realize if the skate boot fits well and the holders and blades can be the same as the skates we have now that all will be good?
-
I don't think that's crazy at all. No way I would purchase if they didn't allow that. Imagine going to a car dealership and they said you can't drive anything or return it after purchase.
-
I've never seen a pair in my life. Pure Hockey maybe? Kinda hard to try them without sharpening!???
-
So the obvious question is how does a guy try these skates? They are intriguing, but no way I could just buy them and hope for the best after reading how different they are then everything else on the market.

Well there you go. Thanks!

Back to back testing of some new and current sticks
218hockey replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I don't know if I'd call this data. But I concur, my son does not like the 2S Pro I just bought him. Glad I didn't cut the thing as I'm going to try and unload it! He'd rather have an MX3 for sure. -
I just picked up a new Easton Junior Synergy GX for my son and he really likes it. He wants me to find him an Intermediate now as well. How old is this stick? Did they make another top of the line stick after the GX or was this the end of the line? I have no idea, never bought an Easton stick before this one.

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

Are they a bit longer with more coverage near the gloves than other brands? Trying to find something for someone 5'7" 115, so tall and thin. I was thinking a Senior Small?

Thanks. I see now. U.S. $125 https://bladetechhockey.com/products/edge-hockey-skate-blades?variant=31252943437918
-
I guess we should determine the actual price of the Bladetech product. My understanding is that the black Bladetech is $149? We were buying the black Massive Blade for U.S. $94 or the LS5 for $109. And of course we would always have two sets. I don't care about Step as they are not available for the Edge holder, didn't like them anyway.
-
We were a big fan of the Massive Blade until they became unavailable. Not so much of LS5 or STEP. Would love to try the Bladetech but the cost appears to be prohibitive.

Agree. My son has bounces back and forth between Nexus D and Supreme EE. Tried out the Bauer 3D, laser fitter, tell me what to wear thingy last week and it said Fit 1. Ha! I don't think so!

Tydan Blades to cease wholesale sales
218hockey replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Possibly this patent has something to do with it but I can’t find Massive anywhere. Don’t want to go off topic here, so if anyone has any info on stock send me a pm. -
These comments are making my head spin. Don't confuse hollow with profile.

I can't see adult players getting that excited about equipment unless you play enough to actually wear gear out. I'm on here because I have a child that normally plays eleven months a year. We really go through the equipment. I'm almost always buying top of the line gear but it's never current model. We broke a 1N and 1S sticks this past winter and went from size 4.5 1S skates in October, to 5.5 2S Pros in December. Now we suddenly have ice, both teams we're involved with are practicing, and I'm scrambling for I think 7.5 or size 8 skates! So to me the equipment cost is really a big concern. I still can't go out and buy new top of the line skates even at the second mark down. But hey, we just bought a new 2S Pro stick for $125. I guess stuff is so expensive now I feel like I got a great deal. I've never bought any pro stock equipment. As far as skates go, I avoid it on purpose. Too hard to know what you're getting.

We use the SISU. Been through quite a few of them though. I wish they were a bit more substantial, but I suppose that's what people like about them.

Is your rink closed? Corona virus stuff
218hockey replied to caveman27's topic in Miscellaneous Discussions
Like everywhere else, all hockey rinks (that I know of in Minnesota and Fargo) are closed. And many have removed their ice completely for now. Minnesota did get their high school hockey tournaments completed which was great but the Minnesota Hockey Youth State Tournament was canceled the morning it was supposed to start. That was a real blow and I know some teams had made it to the towns they were playing before the cancellation. The spring Minnesota HP program has been canceled. My son should have had tryouts in Moorhead this past Saturday. All of our spring AAA tournaments are in limbo. They're looking for June and July dates I'm sure. Some tourneys with 100-200 teams at $1500-$2000 each, I'd want to reschedule too! I know the Minnesota Made Stars and Stripes tournament in Edina is looking at moving from the May 2nd weekend to June 25-28. Who knows what will happen. Of course the health and financial implications cannot be overstated for many people. This is a hockey board so I'm posting about our hockey life being affected. I mean no indifference to anyone facing life or death issues caused by this pandemic.
