Are they a bit longer with more coverage near the gloves than other brands? Trying to find something for someone 5'7" 115, so tall and thin. I was thinking a Senior Small?

Thanks. I see now. U.S. $125 https://bladetechhockey.com/products/edge-hockey-skate-blades?variant=31252943437918

I guess we should determine the actual price of the Bladetech product. My understanding is that the black Bladetech is $149? We were buying the black Massive Blade for U.S. $94 or the LS5 for $109. And of course we would always have two sets. I don't care about Step as they are not available for the Edge holder, didn't like them anyway.
-
We were a big fan of the Massive Blade until they became unavailable. Not so much of LS5 or STEP. Would love to try the Bladetech but the cost appears to be prohibitive.

Agree. My son has bounces back and forth between Nexus D and Supreme EE. Tried out the Bauer 3D, laser fitter, tell me what to wear thingy last week and it said Fit 1. Ha! I don't think so!

Tydan Blades to cease wholesale sales
218hockey replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Possibly this patent has something to do with it but I can’t find Massive anywhere. Don’t want to go off topic here, so if anyone has any info on stock send me a pm. -
These comments are making my head spin. Don't confuse hollow with profile.

I can't see adult players getting that excited about equipment unless you play enough to actually wear gear out. I'm on here because I have a child that normally plays eleven months a year. We really go through the equipment. I'm almost always buying top of the line gear but it's never current model. We broke a 1N and 1S sticks this past winter and went from size 4.5 1S skates in October, to 5.5 2S Pros in December. Now we suddenly have ice, both teams we're involved with are practicing, and I'm scrambling for I think 7.5 or size 8 skates! So to me the equipment cost is really a big concern. I still can't go out and buy new top of the line skates even at the second mark down. But hey, we just bought a new 2S Pro stick for $125. I guess stuff is so expensive now I feel like I got a great deal. I've never bought any pro stock equipment. As far as skates go, I avoid it on purpose. Too hard to know what you're getting.

We use the SISU. Been through quite a few of them though. I wish they were a bit more substantial, but I suppose that's what people like about them.

Is your rink closed? Corona virus stuff
218hockey replied to caveman27's topic in Miscellaneous Discussions
Like everywhere else, all hockey rinks (that I know of in Minnesota and Fargo) are closed. And many have removed their ice completely for now. Minnesota did get their high school hockey tournaments completed which was great but the Minnesota Hockey Youth State Tournament was canceled the morning it was supposed to start. That was a real blow and I know some teams had made it to the towns they were playing before the cancellation. The spring Minnesota HP program has been canceled. My son should have had tryouts in Moorhead this past Saturday. All of our spring AAA tournaments are in limbo. They're looking for June and July dates I'm sure. Some tourneys with 100-200 teams at $1500-$2000 each, I'd want to reschedule too! I know the Minnesota Made Stars and Stripes tournament in Edina is looking at moving from the May 2nd weekend to June 25-28. Who knows what will happen. Of course the health and financial implications cannot be overstated for many people. This is a hockey board so I'm posting about our hockey life being affected. I mean no indifference to anyone facing life or death issues caused by this pandemic. -
Aren't the original Speed Plates good too? They just had some quality issues.

SG Hockey ... or bestcheaphockeygear.com?
218hockey replied to Jazz Star's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Too good to be true? Totally a scam. I’ve got sucked in before. Don’t even want to look. Especially now, we’re totally in a jam looking for Junior sticks. -
Bad blood between the teams, etc. It's a hockey thing.

A boy my son was playing against yesterday broke his Junior ADV during the game. I laughed.

Is this stick available in Junior size? I know the 2S is.

Dude, I actually agree with some of your rhetoric/skepticism but I don't know how you haven't gotten banned here! 🚫 -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

You're probably right. I've had Sparx in my saved ebay searches for a while. Used machines come up every now and then but people pay way too close to new prices for them. I guess I did pick up a brand new blade holder for $25 a few months ago, so that was good. -

No, it turned red and kept on sharpening. Sharpening seemed fine so I guess it's a moot point. Sooo, my 1/2" Fire is done. I'm going to buy another as soon as I can sell my 5/8" Fire. I wish I could return it. To me, trying different Sparx hollows seems like an expensive experiment. -

So, I got one skate sharpened today and the red light indicating a depleted ring came on as the first pass on the second skate started. How long do you use your rings? Is the red circle light a warning or is the ring finished when it first appears? I ran 3 passes with the light on, is this a good sharpening? -

Interesting. We had used 1/2" Fire for the last 6 months. We just wanted to try the 5/8 and unfortunately that's a downfall with this automated machine. It cost me $60 and one skate to find out we like the 1/2". Oh well, I suppose I can put it on eBay. -

I tried the 5/8" Fire and got the thumbs down from my son. So we used it once, he didn't like it. But I still own it! -
Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

No. I had a buddies Sparx at my house for two months this past summer but he picked up and moved to Scottsdale. Now I have a another friend that owns a Sparx that I can use anytime I want. I've been going out there every week since September but I think I'm wearing out my welcome. Ha! Good excuse to buy my own I figured!? -

Yes. 1/2" Fire. But for sure would be doing a few other families skates so thought that's where the Starter Pack would be good. -

Both! 😁 I thought if they have the rings that are in the starter pack, why not sell me those for that price? Hell, I don't even know how much of a savings that is, maybe it's 5 bucks. When you click on the Starter Pack you get a 404. It's not a big deal I just thought they'd say, "yes, we're out of all of this product but here's what we can do." I could still buy the machine and a ring and be alright. I have some sharpening supplies now including the Sparx blade holder. -

Almost bought a Sparx yesterday. No starter ring pack, no edge checker, no blade holder available for purchase. No customer service phone number to call. I emailed and they did get back to me today but said it could be "several weeks" before they had these products. Huh? Why don't they just let you pick some rings of your choice and give a discount with machine purchase?
