  1. Figuring out goalie stick paddle length isn't quite an exact science. There are varying opinions on optimal paddle length. https://www.goalcrease.com/sticks Whatever works for you and your style.
  2. pouring boiling hot water into the glove (blocker or trapper) multiple times will get rid of the body odor-based funk. You could always remove the old palm manually with a thread cutting tool tailors/seamstresses use. But, unless you have an industrial sewing machine, it would be difficult to sew in a new palm. Regular sewing machines may have difficulty poking through both the replacement palm and existing glove material. You could try to cut out a Pad Skinz in the shape of the replacement palm and stick that on. Ghetto solution and I have no idea if that would work or not.
  3. Probably don't need a belly extension. You will have goalie pants and a goalie jock to protect your torso where the bottom ends
  4. Not sure if you want to get podiatrist to remove the bunion. That seems like it would get to the root cause and you can get into any skates now and into the future..
  5. What's your skate size and street shoe size? Just curious. Kind of sounds like a size issue. The NHLers with this problem get a .25 size bigger.
  6. Ice hockey has been evolving in little bits and pieces. Kind of like baseball, there's only so many different approaches you can take to alter the game with bigger players. Tall goalies seems to be the norm now, where as in the past, you could be under 5'10" and still be good. You can be under 5'10" but your ability to go pro is pretty small. Tall defensemen like Chara, they are desirable, but only so many guys are that tall, strong, fast and have hockey sense. You can have an offensive D-man, like he's always joining the rush, but you don't want all your defensemen to be the same way. Other team will find more breakaway chances that way. A defensive D-man is also desirable, and not as many measurable stats to show how they help the team out. They can block shots, but tactically, a defensive D-man who has good hockey sense and is disciplined to not be sloppy in his zone, well he can stop goals and passse, but there are things statistics aren't measured: number of times he pressures the puck handler to pass the puck away, clears the puck in a penalty kill, or pushes/blocks wingers out to prevent rebound attempts. These are things where he's not even touching the puck. His number of goals and assists might be low but he's very instrumental in preventing his goalie from geting eaten alive. Since zone coverage and 1-3-1 tactics have been popularized by some NHL teams, you can get some boring hockey where one team is stopping the other team from being able to set up plays beyond the neutral zone, but they aren't making headway in the offensive zone either.
  7. I usually slash the lower portion of the shaft so the blade is safe if you are playing against me. 🏒
  8. Bunch of HPG 12A in XL on sidelineswap. Front hip padding design looks different though.
  9. It will be only a matter of time before we see some broken stick pictures. Really, I wonder if these will break at the shaft instead of the blade. That's my 51% guess.
  10. Well, they had to dial back the blade stiffness without changing the materials used is my guess.
  11. That should be fun to see it break on a slap shot. $400 down the drain.
  12. Interesting. This was always my favorite design from Koho by Lefebvre. Never really knew if those rubber nubs on the outer roll did anything though. I could not afford this set.
  13. Ever since my spinal fusion surgery, I always wear a weight lifting belt for back support when playing. It's nylon one with velcro, not a leather one with a metal buckle.
  14. Interesting. Maybe no pitch adjustment is needed, but I can see why you are having issues with sprint-like acceleration and deep turns. Does it feel like the skates are forcing your chest upright when you are bending deep into a cross over acceleration and you lose balance from it?
  15. It would nice if OP posted pictures of his old blades and new blades. Those who are sharpeners might get a better idea of what would work without having to bring your blades to a shop multiple times.
  16. If you reprofiled from a 10' to a 9' radius and you didn't notice a difference and you are experiencing tripping while accelerating, you might try an 8 foot radius with aggressive pitch. Another option is to do a combination radius, and get a 7 or 8 foot radius on the front half and a 9 or 10 radius on the back half also with aggressive pitch. You could also stick with a 9 foot radius and just try altering it to have an aggressive pitch. Also, what is your height and weight, skate size?
  17. I thought you said you had Supreme 2S pros, which have the TUUK Lightspeed 5, a removable blade holder.
  18. OK. Well, if that is what floats your boat, that's fine. Not sure why you want the extra weight of extra padding if you aren't taking on NHL level hits and shots.
  19. What I specifically meant to ask is "why do you want pro-stock pants with extra padding over pro-stock pants with normal amount of padding?" I bought pro stock CCM pants too, but without X or XTRA in the model name.
  20. How much extra padding do you need in men's league hockey that regular pro-level pants can't handle?
  21. Warrior Franchise is more traditional fit. I don't know about the fit of Covert models though. Not really sure if you need extra padding, they are heavier in weight but can handle clap bombs to the thighs.
  22. They weren't going to tell veteran team mates to sit out for the new guy. You seemed to have been shafted from the git go.
  23. Montreal Canadiens team equipment sale. 9 to 3 PM at the Bell Centre.
