medium bauer. what's your waist size (for belts and pants)?

I would assume that all teams will be evenly sloppy as no one has had practices. Only problem is teams who built up momentum have lost it all at this point.

Funny you should mention inline. Last weekend, I thought I would find my old inline Mission hockey skates in storage and do some skating on some local roads. The boots were covered in mold, mainly on the fabric sections. I skated in them once though, and threw them out. I bought them back in the mid 90s so they got plenty of use back then. Then, I check online stores, and all online hockey stores have sold out of clearance model roller hockey skates. 🙁 New ones (that are nice) are over $400.

Not in Virginia. This weekend, they are allowing some non-essential businesses to reopen, but that doesn't include ice rinks or gyms.

I usually do, and foam rolling too. Two days ago, I was able to jog over 2.5 miles, but I stopped to stretch four times. Before I started jogging, I walked for over a mile to warm up the muscles.

Just curious, you want to buy it to wear it or as a collector's item?

If you've ever seen shaft + blade systems before one-piece sticks were made, the blade piece has to have a hosel as its stick-side end that can fit into the bottom of the shaft. Not sure if that's possible or not. I've never cut into the bottom of a 1-piece stick to find out. If you have carpentry tools, it's possible to experiment.

This should be interesting. They need to practice, fly around to out of town games, and since some states and Canada might not be on the same schedule of "reopening", I don't know what some teams are going to do if they can't even go to practices, much less hold games. I'm sure those teams can fly the team and staff out of town to stay at a hotel and train at another rink, but that will be rough for guys with families.

I've been trying to stay in shape the last couple of non-hockey weeks by jogging. Just about the time when my pinched nerve, right hand numbness issue went away, things started to bother my left hip, which tightened up my left quad muscles. That was in the middle of March. By the middle of April, I can hardly jog before it gets too painful. I've been doing walking as working out. I tried to jog yesterday. It was fine in the beginning but only lasted for .8 miles. I stopped and just walked. I saw an orthopaedic surgeon this week. He worked on my right hip over a year and a half ago. Arthroscopic surgery to clean up the worn areas. Anyway, I'm going to get a shot to see if that works. If not, then I'll be getting an MRI. This sucks. The shot will hurt because they need the needle to go in deep. And the MRI will suck too because they need to inject a dye in just like the shot and go in as deep, that's what they did with the right hip.

Swapping ice to roller holders and back
caveman27 replied to smcgreg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I hope you didn't take my dryland training advice as an insult. I understand that skating and hockey experience (passing, shooting, on-ice stuff) cannot be replicated by dryland training, and that's 2/3rds of the game. And, inline skating can activate similar muscles that are used in ice skating. Has he been doing any off-ice exercising during that past two months? -
Are the newer Ribcore skates the highest volume CCM skate?
caveman27 replied to beardacus's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Not sure if these diagram/charts help you or not. I wear Jetspeed (previously known as RBZ). I have a wide foot. I wear 5.5 EE (before CCM switch sizing) in CCMJetspeed and 6.0 D in Bauer Supreme. I tried 5.5 D in Ribcore... that was tight and my feet started tingling from lack of blood supply. -
Swapping ice to roller holders and back
caveman27 replied to smcgreg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The unknown thing about it is some states may "reopen" sooner than others, and these hockey leagues exist in multiple states. So as a hypothetical situation, if the half of the teams exist in states that allow recreational facilities (namely ice rinks) to open before September, and the other half of the teams exist in states that don't allow it, you are going to have a situation where half the players can play and the other half can't. For guys looking to build their skill/experience resume to get to the next level (college hockey or a higher level Junior league), being on a team where they can't play is going to be a huge problem. I have no idea how things are going to pan out in Canada where ice hockey is like a boy's gateway to the pros. They appear to have less COVID-19 infections and deaths compared to the US, some provinces much less than others. Aside from that, dryland training doesn't even have to involve inline skating/hockey. Cardiovascular exercise for endurance, sprint running and plyometric exercises for speed, and weight training for strength can give your child an edge when he gets back on the ice. -

I think the pro stock models HPUCLP, HPUCLX,, HP45 are close. -
Bauer Shield For Corona Virus
caveman27 replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I can wear a respirator mask while doing lawn work or do-it-yourself activities, like this in the picture. It gets hot in the summer but its doable. But, to wear something like that to filter out viruses while playing ice hockey at 100% would be difficult. -

Warrior G5 blockers... going back to the past
caveman27 replied to caveman27's topic in Goal Equipment
Oh. Vaughn SLR 2 Pro Carbon looks like they moved the blocker pad lower. Pad depth appears thinner too, I guess there's a carbon fiber board inside. -
Here's a click-together tile system that isn't synthetic ice. Seems like it provides what you want without having to paint your garage floor. https://www.purehockey.com/product/hockeyshot-dryland-tiles-allstar-10-pack/itm/33814-2/

Warrior G5 blockers... going back to the past
caveman27 replied to caveman27's topic in Goal Equipment
Here's the side profile of the G5 This is the G4. So going by what you are saying, the center of gravity of the board is farther down, or the glove is placed higher up (depending on how you want to describe it) CCM Premier II for comparison -
Harbor Freight is a hardware store with mostly "Made in China" products. I shop there to get cheap tools once in awhile. It's not junk, but it's not "long-term lasts forever" stuff either. Cheap paint brushes if you are working on a painting job that isn't for something elegant, like an outdoor fence.

Warrior G5 blockers... going back to the past
caveman27 replied to caveman27's topic in Goal Equipment
So, if you take a 15" by 8" flat piece of paper, that's 120 square inches. Now, if you put in a crease into the rectangular piece of paper, like a Vaughn blocker and you measured the top-down view, you have less than 120 square inches. The argument against it is part of that upper section is double-coverage as your forearm is behind the blocker. So, if the puck happens to go over that 1/4" inch shorter top, it's going to hit the upper arm anyway. Here's James Reimer in Bauer 2S Pro. To note, there's some people who want a rectangular leg pad outer roll for more blocking surface and the 2S has the triangular sloped outer roll but that's a whole other discussion. You got some funny angle blocker saves like this, and maybe more top-edge length might help. This is Alex Stalock in an older photo with Vaughn Velocity V5. And here's an example of the angled top end helping the blocker to deflect the puck instead of it skipping over and into the goal. This is Henrik Lundqvist in Bauer Total One NXG. Maybe the question is, is a flatter blocker board better for blocking/defensive goalies or reactive/hybrid goalies? -
The new G5 blockers have a lot less bend to the front board. Less bend equals more front surface blocking area. Back in the 80s and before, blockers were completely flat. Later on, manufacturers built the angle into it. Some even tried some funny shapes like a parallelogram at the top and bottom or curve. Those shapes are gone and I don't think they'll come back. https://www.goaliemonkey.com/equipment/blockers/sr-goalie-blockers/warrior-goalie-blocker-ritual-g5-pro-sr.html Brian's Optik 2 Pro, Bauer 2X/2S Pro, CCM Axis and Vaughn V9 still have a good amount of bend in the top area. Just an observation. Do you think other companies will follow in design?

Why is Warrior's customizer so mean to me?
caveman27 replied to marka's topic in General Hockey Discussions
Maybe if you can capture the energy from a lightning bolt. Wait for a lightning storm in an area where you can hit 88 MPH without driving in traffic, maybe a mall parking lot. -
Maybe plywood.

caveman27 replied to marka's topic in General Hockey Discussions
oh, I have no idea what the "real" Covert glove is compared to the Covert gloves they had. I saw the Pro Plus and assumed that was it. Looks like they don't have G5 goalie stuff to customize due to corona virus pandemic.
