That's true. it's not 100% fair. Board of Governors still have to approve it, so you never know.

We have our first step towards resuming the 2019-20 season with the approval of the return-to-play format by the NHLPA Executive Board. The 31 NHL team representatives voted and a majority gave the thumbs up to the 24-team, conference-based proposal. According to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie, the vote was 29-2 in favor. Now the plan moves on to the Board of Governors for their approval. ... Based on points percentage at the time of the March 12 NHL pause, the top four teams in each conference (Boston, Tampa, Washington, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Colorado, Vegas, Dallas) will receive a first-round bye. Round 1 will feature eight play-in matchups in a best-of-five series. As the play-in round takes place, the eight conference leaders could potentially take part in a mini tournament that will determine the seeding for Round 2. Reseeding after the play-in round is another topic likely to be discussed. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nhlpa-board-approves-24-team-020855452.html

what tape/grip youre using for your knob?
caveman27 replied to MikeJames's topic in General Hockey Discussions
Regular cotton tape. -
medium bauer. what's your waist size (for belts and pants)?

I would assume that all teams will be evenly sloppy as no one has had practices. Only problem is teams who built up momentum have lost it all at this point.

Funny you should mention inline. Last weekend, I thought I would find my old inline Mission hockey skates in storage and do some skating on some local roads. The boots were covered in mold, mainly on the fabric sections. I skated in them once though, and threw them out. I bought them back in the mid 90s so they got plenty of use back then. Then, I check online stores, and all online hockey stores have sold out of clearance model roller hockey skates. 🙁 New ones (that are nice) are over $400.

Not in Virginia. This weekend, they are allowing some non-essential businesses to reopen, but that doesn't include ice rinks or gyms.

I usually do, and foam rolling too. Two days ago, I was able to jog over 2.5 miles, but I stopped to stretch four times. Before I started jogging, I walked for over a mile to warm up the muscles.
-
Just curious, you want to buy it to wear it or as a collector's item?
-
This should be interesting. They need to practice, fly around to out of town games, and since some states and Canada might not be on the same schedule of "reopening", I don't know what some teams are going to do if they can't even go to practices, much less hold games. I'm sure those teams can fly the team and staff out of town to stay at a hotel and train at another rink, but that will be rough for guys with families.

I've been trying to stay in shape the last couple of non-hockey weeks by jogging. Just about the time when my pinched nerve, right hand numbness issue went away, things started to bother my left hip, which tightened up my left quad muscles. That was in the middle of March. By the middle of April, I can hardly jog before it gets too painful. I've been doing walking as working out. I tried to jog yesterday. It was fine in the beginning but only lasted for .8 miles. I stopped and just walked. I saw an orthopaedic surgeon this week. He worked on my right hip over a year and a half ago. Arthroscopic surgery to clean up the worn areas. Anyway, I'm going to get a shot to see if that works. If not, then I'll be getting an MRI. This sucks. The shot will hurt because they need the needle to go in deep. And the MRI will suck too because they need to inject a dye in just like the shot and go in as deep, that's what they did with the right hip.

Are the newer Ribcore skates the highest volume CCM skate?
caveman27 replied to beardacus's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Not sure if these diagram/charts help you or not. I wear Jetspeed (previously known as RBZ). I have a wide foot. I wear 5.5 EE (before CCM switch sizing) in CCMJetspeed and 6.0 D in Bauer Supreme. I tried 5.5 D in Ribcore... that was tight and my feet started tingling from lack of blood supply. -
Bauer Shield For Corona Virus
caveman27 replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I can wear a respirator mask while doing lawn work or do-it-yourself activities, like this in the picture. It gets hot in the summer but its doable. But, to wear something like that to filter out viruses while playing ice hockey at 100% would be difficult. -
Harbor Freight is a hardware store with mostly "Made in China" products. I shop there to get cheap tools once in awhile. It's not junk, but it's not "long-term lasts forever" stuff either. Cheap paint brushes if you are working on a painting job that isn't for something elegant, like an outdoor fence.

Hockey program team sales? Is this normal?

Those folks are nuts if they expect you to pre-buy a ton of custom-colored gloves with logos. Good luck with your counter-proposal. -
Hockey program team sales? Is this normal?
caveman27 replied to VegasHockey's topic in General Hockey Discussions
When you said gloves in your original post, are you talking about hockey gloves or winter gloves? How many things do they want available for purchase: hockey socks, hockey jerseys, hockey helmets, hockey pants or shells? I can understand that some AA, A or B teams would have more of a need/want to look better than a house or C league, and so they would want custom-colors and all that jazz that go with looking uniform with a color scheme that isn't just some color that is easily purchased any any hockey store, like purple, white and silver. Here, the local team has red, white, and blue, which is easy to buy socks, helmet and gloves for, but the travel team has NY Rangers-pattern pant shells and a hockey bag with them team logo on it. -

Oh so the big elephant in the room is, if a player backs out of the league and orders a jersey, you eat the loss on the custom-ordered item because no one is going to buy a jersey with someone else's name and number in a specific jersey size. Most of the time, most players who register will play the season. But, there will always be some players who become ill or get injured, some players move out of town, or some just quit for whatever reason. The association is probably big with multiple teams at each level, but if just five children quit: one in Mites, one in Squirt, one in Pee Wee, one in Bantam, one in Midget, that adds up. You need to take a down-payment so if it falls through, you will at least break-even. There is no reason you can't request a down-payment for custom items. -
Is your rink closed? Corona virus stuff

So, non-essential business were going to be able to open on Friday, April 24, 2020 (executive order 53) in Virginia. And the governor just pushed it back two more weeks to May 8, 2020. -
I started off goaltending in the 80s. I had a Cooper SK 600, which was comfortable. The Cooper SK 2000 was more popular so I later on bought that helmet and used the HM-50 mask. It was actually a heavy-duty helmet, but it pressed behind one of my ear lobes. It "looked" good, but it wasn't totally comfortable. If you were super cool enough for your parents to buy two helmets of different colors, you would have the front piece in the team's primary color and the back piece in the team's secondary color.

For guys in a beer league, was your team going up before things got shut down? Were they getting worse? Were they staying the same? Was your team on top, middle or bottom? The team I am on got off to a rough start. We were losing games by 4 to 6 goals regularly. We made it to the bottom of our division around Christmas time. But, we started building up wins afterwards. We had some loses against better ranked teams, but they were close and lost by a point in OT. We had three regular season games to go and the league was put on hold. We were in the middle ranked fourth out of eight. I don't know how we are going to do once we get back into it, which who knows when that is going to happen. Any momentum/team mojo we had is gone for the most part. Every team makes it into the playoff so it's not like we weren't going to clinch a playoff spot. -
In these strange times we are in, I found two items are sold out everywhere. 1. web cams. 2. bidet attachments (bidet that you attach to your toilet under the toilet seat screws. Also, some office chairs are sold out, a lot more people have switched to working from home full time, like me. I ended up ordering a gaming chair.

Single Favorite Piece of Equipment Ever
caveman27 replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Micron Mega Air-90. Fit my feet perfectly, perfect boot angle, no lace bite, no problems. Of course, they weighed a ton compared to current carbon fiber boot skates, and they had this white plastic clip attached to the inside area of the boot which I didn't know if it was a gimmick or actually helped to transfer power. Maybe real leather on the inside of skate boots are the solution for good fitting hockey skates. Circle back to the things that worked in the past. For goaltending equipment, the best thing was my CCM Pro-pac goalie girdle. They were very flexible and fit great. The girdle fit tightly with the belt and laces tied up. You didn't need suspenders, but they were optional if you attached them to the shell buttons. This was back in the day before anyone tucked their chest into their pants. -
Is your rink closed? Corona virus stuff
caveman27 replied to caveman27's topic in Miscellaneous Discussions
While thinking about it all, I figure if something like this comes around again, instead of shutting everything down, people can wear masks and go about their business. It would be inconvenient to wear a respirator mask while playing hockey but doable at the same time. -

caveman27 replied to caveman27's topic in Miscellaneous Discussions
That's what folks here are saying. There's a semi-bad area where the rink doors close behind the nets. The boards aren't quite even and the ice is not level. The rink folks do level the ice maybe twice a year, once in the fall before hockey and figure skating start up and once before a big figure skating competition in the spring when they need level ice.
