I'm a big fan of the verbero aeropuck. I still have about a dozen of them. Used to use them for drop in or pickup games. Lot of guys wanted to use ids or rocket pucks, but once they used the verbero everyone wanted to keep using it. I don't use them outdoors though because the little nubs get shredded. Pro pucks are also good, with flatter pads.

I'd like a more in depth explanation of the flow motion tech in the r1 compared to o1. In layman's terms obviously. I get the basic idea, but I'd like to understand what you mean by "optimized for game play." Sounds nice, but what exactly is different and what exactly is used to determine optimized? Also, I'm assuming these take floating spacers?

Just got these back from JR. 2s pros are awesome. I only had one full set of floating spacers lying around, so I set up the 2s pros. I just threw some wheels on the 1s for the picture. They feel nice, haven't really had a chance to put them to the test, but they feel great and they are definitely mounted perfectly. Have another pair of 1s waiting for the marsblades r1 to arrive.

I agree. I'd go for a vapor boot and convert to roller if you're up for the bit of extra work. Otherwise, a pair of missions from the past few models in 6.5 should be fine. Older mission, pre 2010, just do your shoe size and E width. Look on sideline

In my experience, Labeda asphalt are the best. If you got a month plus out of those that's pretty good. I weigh about 200lbs and I'm happy to get a month out of outdoor wheels. I have tricksters coming too, and they better be good because they're double the price of everything else

Never tried the o1s. After playing roller hockey through the late 90s and through the 2000s I got pretty burnt out on gimmicky stuff and just took the "it ain't broke, don't fix it" route for a while. Recently got back into roller, and I decided to give some of techy stuff a try. Got pair of sprungs which are being mounted now and I ordered these R-1s to try them as well. I'm excited to see if the r1s are really as good as they look. Same with the sprungs. I'm more of a shifty quick player at opposed to straight speed, so these are both marketed for my style of play. Definitely itching to test these out

Just pre-ordered the R-1s. I wish there were more info about them, but I figured I'd rather try them at 140 than at 200. Imy interested to see what the new tech is like these days. Seen a lot of crazy stuff in roller hockey, from the tuuk rocker to the v form to the tridi, so I'm game for giving this a shot. That said, I wish marsblades would do some more promotional videos about the r1

The foot cramps are probably the result of the skates being too wide for you and then compensating by cranking down the laces too hard. Either that or the arch is too high. Old missions had a really high arch, if you have flatter feet that could do it, otherwise it's the lacing. Also ten-twenty years wiser, I had no business in those old missions and my life changed when I got my first pair of tours. I still use 02 type ms because when I got back into it that's just what I had in the house, but I really need to bake and punch a couple spots. It's crazy to think back about the whole craze of buying missions and then I think about how many years I played hockey on skates that were too narrow just because of the hype. Wish I could help with a rec, but I've been out of the roller gear loop for too long now. I'd probably just look on eBay and sideline swap.

Glad to hear. I'm surprised your 950s are still alive, mine didn't even make it through one summer and my 750s turned to mush in about 3 months. I've never had skates go so soft so quickly like the 05 missions. Are yours still stiff at all?

That's weird. I literally just ripped the chassis off an old pair of 750s and did not see anything like that. If you don't have spacers then that's probably why though. It could be that the wheels are not tight to the axel so they're able to move up and around and make contact with the support brackets. Id get some spacers and if it doesn't go away then you can either just ride the 72/80 until they wear down enough to clear, or you can do the 68/76, which will be slower but more maneuverable.

You can run 68mm/76mm wheels, but the chassis is designed to run the wheels with an 8mm differential, so that's the ideal way to run the Hi-Lo setup. 72/76 will work, but it's not ideal. it will have you at a flatter pitch than an 8mm difference. Personally, I just stick with the 72/80. About the rubbing, what part of the wheel is hitting the chassis? Side or the taper?

Yeah you can totally use the same boots. I think he was just saying that if you're gonna get the full marsblades setup it come with stock boots, but you can totally just get the frames and mount them. To me this seems like a no brainier given the reputation that marsblades have for enabling almost every aspect of your stride to replicate an ice stride. It's a huge cost savings and I think the difference would be negligible of at all

Thanks for all the info guys. In the end I picked up 2 A7s. Haven't received them yet, so I can't say how I like them. I do know that until I can get on an indoor rink I'll probably just mount them and give it a quick test run, but it doesn't seem like they're ideal for right outdoor surfaces. I'd rather just use them for indoor so u don't destroy then to quickly. In other news, seems like my feet filled out a bit in the last 15 years, so the mission amps are just too narrow. Scored a pair of Bauer supreme 1s for 100 bucks in almost perfect condition, and they fit amazing. Can't wait to mount them and give em a ride with the sprungs. The only question I have about mounting is about the difference between 6-32 and 8-32 tnuts and bolts. It seems that people recommend either. Is there any practical difference or advantage to one over the other? I never did a mount with these, only a riveter that one of my old teammate's father had, so any advice is appreciated. Meanwhile with this whole virus going on I've been getting some time in on a handball court near my place. Busted out the old type Ms with the vibes. Love those things, hope the sprungs are even better.

I'm 6'1 200 lbs and in the past I was pretty hard on gear, so I wouldn't ever buy a product that doesn't have part support. At least not for that price. Maybe for 20 bucks. Thanks for the info. I looked into the sprungs. Do they still make them? I put in an email, so far no answer, but if I can get a pair I would try them. If I don't hear back in the next week I'll probably just try the R1 and wait. I would rather not wait, but I just dug up an old pair of Type Ms, so I guess I can use them until after the summer if need be. Anybody ordered and received a pair of sprungs recently?

Thanks guys. That makes sense. I'm really trying to see if there are any advantages to sprungs or marsblades r1 aside from just being more like ice. From a purely roller standpoint, there is value in switching to a non fixed chassis it seems. @Althoma, are there any downsides to the skating experience with the sprungs? Is there anything that's worse about skating on them than a fixed chassis? Skating backwards? Transitioning, cutting, sprinting? Do you find that they limit your play in any way, or is it all positive for you? Thanks again for the replies. Anyone else have any input? Pros and cons of sprungs from a pure roller perspective. I guess nobody had skated the r1s yet but they also look interesting.

Hey MSH, long time lurker (maybe 15 years, on and off) first time poster. I have a question about some frames for conversion of old skates. I've been out of roller hockey for about 4 years now after playing rec league and competitive from about 1998-2016, so I've played quite a bit, but it seems like things have changed a lot from the 72/80 Hi-Lo days. (I know they were out a long time before 2014, but they were still easy to find). I want to put some frames on an old pair of amp fly ice boots and I'm not sure what to put. I don't have any old 72/80 hi los that are worth using, so my options are basically a Hummer, vanguard or sprungs. Or i could wait and try the marsblades R1s I guess. Issue is, another thread here said that there was trouble mounting vanguards on the amp fly, and I once tried the Hummers on the tour code tabu and I hated the all 80s setup, not to mention the dremmeling. So basically, I can just fish around for old hi lo frames, or i can try the sprungs or marsblades. The reason I'm unsure about them is that everyone says the advantage is that they're more similar to ice, but I always played more roller than ice anyway, so that doesn't mean much to me as I'm comfortable going back and forth. Do I lose anything from switching to sprungs if I don't need the ice like feel? Finally, anyone ever mount sprungs on amp fly boots? Thanks guys
