I can't believe after watching that crash that there was only 1 fatality! Where there others injured...? if there were...obviously Dan's death got all the coverage...but I'd be surprised if no one else was hurt.
Red light camera....I didn't realize the intersection had one. I didn't speed up or anything...just thought I'd beat the yellow. Not another car in sight.... just lights on timers. A quick google search tells me I can expect a $300 ticket in the mail soon. Yeah me!
Not that it matters, but business or personal? Either way...must be a huge pain in the ass! Not to mention a complete violation of privacy and sense of security.
Terribly sad news. A quote from his final letter to his supporters has been making the rounds on the interwebs today: "...Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world." Not sure what everyone does for a job, but politics aside...that's a pretty damn good philosophy to live by regardless of how you make your living. RIP Mr. Layton.
LOL...I've been off for 2 weeks...back to work today. Not sure why, but I could not get to sleep last night (Well, I know why...but no need to air my dirty work laundry here). Anyways....finally fell asleep around 3:30a....must've slept through my alarm...'cause I woke up at 8:55 (I start at 9). Alarm was still set. It turns off after about 15 minutes of buzzing! D'oh!. Thankfully, in Radio Production. 9-9:30 on a Monday is hardly busy time. LOL!
The start of this is "Sweet Stuff" material... I'm the oldest of 4 boys. The middle brother (29yr) and his long time GF (what the hell, might as well call her his wife) had a baby in June. My other brother (33) and his wife of just over a year are expecting...and my 'baby' brother (27) is getting married in 3 weeks. I'm happy for them all...but I'm 35 and single...I can't help but think I've done something wrong. I'm not going to go so far as to say I'm depressed about it...but it's definitely left me in a funk. Hell, I don't even have a date for the wedding. FML!
Not the most mainstream guy in the world (at least not in Canada...) but the new Eric Church CD is really good. C'mon...you gotta like the lyrics: "I've thrown a punch or two and gave a few black eyes...but Jack Daniels kicked my ass again last night" Oh...did I mention...It's Country Music! LOL
A friend from the other group of radio stations in town had VIP/Front Row for the Tea Party. 10 feet from the stage with all the free beer we could drink! Great to see them back together.
Sent promos to a voice talent in Nashville yesterday. Was told it would be 10 day turn around. Low and behold....they came back this evening. I can get this project done before I go on vaca now!
Got up at 6:45 this morning...was on a commuter train to Toronto at 9:00. In line at Skydome (I refuse to call it Rogers Centre) before the gates opened at 11 to make sure we all got a Robbie Alomar HOF bobblehead prior to watching his jersey retired and the Jays beating up on the Rangers. There were only 20,000 available and the place was sold out (over 45,000). Got home and opened the box...my bobblehead is broken. It has a broken arm, and is cracked at the base. I know in the grand scheme of things....not really a big deal...but a lot of planning went into the 7 of us that went all getting into Toronto on time...and it is a little bit of a piss off.
A bit of both honestly. LOL! It started Jan 1/11. We all put in $10 and picked 10 "celebrities" we thought would kick it this year. You get 100-age at death for each person on your list. Next January...person with most points wins the pot. It's worth $150
She had to make it to the magic music death age of 27. Morrison, Cobain, Joplin, Hendrix...all died at 27. Oh, BTW...I just got 73 points in our death pool. All I need now is Abe Vigoda or Zsa Zsa Gabor to kick it in the next 5 months.
