Has anyone tried the Quad 0.5 profile?
oldtrainerguy28 replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Another profiling nightmare. So much forward pitch the player could not even skate. Lucky he had offered to help coach and wasn't at a team practice. He has NHL camp coming up. I'm not saying Pro Sharp is bad saying there are quit a few that do not know what there doing and going by what there told as which profile is the best. You need to know the players skati g strengths this was not a good fit. FYI Bauer steel was brand new LS3 only profiled once and sharpened 2 times. Front of the blade measures 12.5 32nds out the holder. -
Before you shim try a blade alignment. IMO always do an alignment first similar to figure skates before shimming. And always go thinner on the shims first. It's amazing how a small shim can make a huge difference. I have been using the Red Dog Hockey boost method of trying it inside the skate first before mounting it outside with a perfect success rate so far. Started mainly with my son and he skated with Elvis Stojko yesterday and Elvis said a 10000% improvement. Once we figured what he needed and mounted out side and realigned the blades. Just my thoughts

They are not sharp from the factory. Flat as can be. SOMEONE sharpened them. -
No I didnt bother looking any further

Yes. But the foam at the toe is the same. And measuring the boot the 7 is smaller than the 7.5. So they are definitely 2 different sizes.
-
Stickers are the same.. maybe it is 4mm I didnt measure it thoroughly
-
Ok. Problem sort of solved. Ibhave a 7 and a 7.5 here. First checked the foam in the toe. No difference in thickness. 2nd looked for other stickers.... none same as mentioned above. 3rd measured the actual skates. 7.5 was infact closer to 5mm longer. So definitely bigger. No ifs and or butts. It's not a toe foam conspiracy.... lol. Hope that helps. Had me worried for a second.

If I was CCM I'd be putting that in the Bio. Just saying.

1. Thos would be for retail fits only. 2. Everyone mentioned, I do not see any retail expiernece. You can work at the office and have played and still have no clue what your doing. 3. Only 3 people for 1000's who might want this. 🙈 4. What if it's the totally wrong fit? Who do you complain to? Do you have to book an appointment? As mentioned above a manager did a fit and was still wrong. I get for out of the way areas it's not a bad idea. I started doing this at the end of Corebeam and the beginning of MS. It was way to much work for the time needed for each customer. If I was CCM or Bauer and they were paying me the right money maybe. But nothing beats the fit and feel. If this is actually a PRE Fit for before going in a store to purchase and was sold like that well then that would be a good idea. Pay $50 and get $25 off your purchase. A total win win. As its advertised... 🥴

Umm FYI True has a similar deal doing the training for the skates. It's on the management and the company. I used to head the training dept at a chain and our brand was the leader in Pro shop across 4 families of stores. And it was the least funded etc. I cared and our employees cared. I have 7 that are now Pro Equipment managers. One is now the first female EQM in PRO Men's hockey in the KHL. One is a buyer for hockey in the main office. And bunch more Dept and store managers. It's all about the culture and how much you care about teaching.

May have something to do with the rep not being able to get into see them and make adjustments?
-
Ya they are much heavier but much more sturdy.....
-
That maybe true and it may be just fine. BUT for 7 8 9 hundred I would like there top pieces in my skates and I have yet to see the ordinal holder have any issues at all.
-
Easily swapped. Hence why I bought about 100 sets. 🙂

Has anyone tried the Quad 0.5 profile?
oldtrainerguy28 replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
But if you don't blend it all the way then you are technically not using the first profile so why use it?? Referencing a Q 0 or Q1 -

As mentioned they made the .5 fornthe North American players. At the time I was working with an OHL team that used 9.5 10.5 and wanted to switch but didnt like the 0 or he 1. We asked for the .5 and they made us a template. That's how the .5 came about. -
The metal ones are stainless. Never seen rust one a single one yet. Impact on the new ones is all I'd be worried about.
-
Simply reduced costs. Zero benefit.
-
-
Is it on all models or just on the lower end ones? I bought the metal ones to sell. I saw that and can just see an issue in cold weather and a puck. Unless there nylon?

What size lady's shoe?
-
As mentioned by many others. Why? That is totally up to the store. Bauer Scanners have to be purchased there not free. Ipads for True are free but are property of True. Not sure how CCM does there's. But were talking products that are consumables like rivets and helmet screws. No company pays for that stuff you buy your own consumables.

Kind of lost how this question is in this section of the thread about the retailers not filling the fit process properly. I have seen posts from stores posting pictures from all manufacturers that are not being done as per manufacturer instructions. IE standing in freshly baked skates. (Usually on an IG story). The in store training is the key.

Actually I would go by mom an pop and pro shops that have staff wearing the product and have a couple hundred fits by now.
