Not sure how it will hurt them financially? They only produced that edge blade for a few years? Since then they now produce all of Trues steel? While they were the most popular in the NHL the CCM is gaining traction. Plus now they do more figure and so on. Set back sure. But I doubt Step would ever seem to them now. They offered to work then and Bauer refused. Would you work with them after they sued you?

How to specify the heel/toe shape of skate blades?

I feel if you need a more aggressive pitch something else is missing in the fit. In a study done more than 1/32 nd forward had zero benefits to 80% of participants. -
How to specify the heel/toe shape of skate blades?
oldtrainerguy28 replied to dsizzle's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I'm in China at the moment so I cannot see any videos. But you never skate on the first or last inch of the blade. May you get there at the end of a stride or turn sure. But you are not skating on it. As for rounding the toe and heel soon as you do that you move the start and finish f stride to a shorter amount of blade? Just skate on a smaller radius through the middle if that's your main goal and leave the toe and heel except to blend into the shorter profile. -
How to specify the heel/toe shape of skate blades?
oldtrainerguy28 replied to dsizzle's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Actually I would do the opposite. Mark the new steel and then profile the blade on the closest profile to the older steel then take off less than half of what the marker says toe and heel. You don't skate on the toe and heel. You skate on the middle of the blade. if you need to reduce the profile to make it easier to turn you will turn far better with leaving the toe and heel -

1. It was 2. Orginal Bauer steel was to low. 3. Never been sharpened anywhere but the S machine. And I have seen multiple machines not set properly do the same thing. So yes they can ruin a profile. A machine of any type not set up properly or not running properly can do damage. Regardless Giving the machine the label of perfection is just silly. Saying it's less likely for the S machine to make a profiling error when running properly is a more correct statement. -

1. The skate blade was pitched 2/32nds backwards. That's a major problem. Child had knee and back pain. Thought it might have been the skates. 2. I installed proper steel. Step steel profiled and sharpened. 3. they called the company and walked them through adjustments. The child still feels my sharpening is better so I advised on what to do to make it feel closer to mine. -

1. They did not realize there was an issue till pointed out. 2. They contacted support and made adjustments. And purchased new steel. 3. I'm pretty sure having used ever machine under the sun and sharpening for as long as I have with multiple championships I can help sort it out. -

Why would I be surprised at the number of players no knowing what they use? I have been sharpening for 30 years! poorly educated staff regardless of the machine is the issue in every shop. -

They followed the instructions. Place skate in slot. Close slot. Push button. Besides I thought these eliminated human error? I have roughly 7 customers that have these. ALL come for profile and adjustments during the season. They are not perfect machines. If you have no knowledge of skate sharpening things can go wrong. -

We had a client use solvents to clean a goal mask (One of the plastic type) After they painted it. After a month so.eone took a snapshot and it went through the helmet where it was now soft and gave them a brain injury. Why play with fire? It would be good to see the results of your test though.

The tongue is very pliable. No need to remold. -
Never use nail polish on a helmet ever!

Kinda is......Just saying. Discussing whether or not the new True helmet will get a good rating or not. I think with the Mips it will do well. Yes, I know biased.

Let me see if I can clarify as I do not pay as much attention to the details of the head forms because I do not understand all that is entailed in the whole thing. But I do my best in the meetings to understand the main points. The head forms VT uses are football head forms. Therefore the head form is not attached tot he head the same and is modified to do so. The IE and HECC and CSA all use a standardized head form for hockey helmets. They all fit and are attached the same way. However, VT uses a modified neck form that NOBODY else uses to attempt to simulate rotational impacts. The neck form used is made in a way that is not the way a hockey player would take a hit and the end result would be squed, from an actual real-life playing situation. My understanding is all the hockey helmet testing programs have been vigorously working over the last 4 years to come up with a test for rotational impacts and the present hockey helmet using the head form used in testing now. It's not as simple as sticking a head form on a neck form and calling the test results facts. So far all the testing has given non-consistant data and hence why there is no set program yet for rotational impact testing.
