    A huge jump in flex like that will keep your shot lower with the same curve.

    No, it's basically the Kreps curve. Similar to the Ovi, but toned down a little to make it a little more usable.

    Heatley is gone. It suffered from being too similar to the Iginla and not being very widely offered. I'm not really a fan of where they told us they are going with their curves, but I'm not in the target demographic. I'm a big fan of the new protective, especially the shoulder pads. Very simple and clean design, reminded me a lot of some of the older Jofa pads with some upgrades. The new Mako gloves are comfortable, but still a little odd in appearance to me.

    I used to play with a couple guys that wore the full-pant WSI jocks and loved them. I still have a pair of the Puckskin pants in my bag for refereeing.

    Take it to a shop and have them cross grind it. Short of badly pitted steel, you shouldn't need to cross grind your skates anyway.

    One of the teams from the division above us moved down and then added a couple more guys that belong at least a division or two up. Last season the league was pretty laid back.

    He came after me on my way back to the bench and I punched him before he could get his stick on me. He got an instigator penalty but no fighting penalty. I was given a 2 and game for fighting. A 5 and game for fighting results in a 3 game suspension, there is no reference to what a 2 and game will get in our league rules. The other guy did hit five minors in the game and will be suspended for one game.

    Guy on the other team punched me and another guy on my team in the handshake line after our game last night, now I have a one game suspension.

    In some cases, I agree. In others, not so much. Working for an airline for the last few years has exposed me to a situation where unions still do serve a purpose. There are a still large number of safety related issues that would not have been addressed were it not for pressure from the unions.

    The majority of guys on my team were used to skating on 1/2" hollows and almost all of them prefer the 95/75, one prefers the 100/50 and one other guy skates on 90/75 like I do. 100/75 will have a lot more bite, much more like 3/8".

    Even with a deeper FBV, you should have had similar glide in straight line skating. It sounds more like it wasn't a real FBV sharpening.

    The internet helps out with appliances, and other repairs in a major way. Our LG washing machine was leaking right before I left for the show in Vegas so I ordered the part online for $35 and replaced it myself. If I had to call for maintenance, it would have been at least $200. That said, be honest about what you can and can not do, you can cost yourself more money if you don't.

    Congrats, the only down side is that you can't call the owner any time repairs are needed, it's all on you now.

    Agreed on both accounts. So far no significant damage here but I know a number of people that have been severely impacted by this storm.

    Yep, try spending a couple hundred bucks on a concert ticket and having everyone in front of you hold up their cell phones to record shitty video/audio. It makes the movie theater stupidity less surprising.

    Had a long conversation with some people at work today, either I will be on a long term medical leave of absence or I will be terminated next week. Either way, it looks like I'm going to have to start pinching my pennies.

    For me, ruby is just what I know best and my default selection. Even those of us who like advancements like the FBV tend to be somewhat traditional and resist change at times.

    We used to use it at my shop. It's cheap and lets you provide a better finished product to the customer. A lot of shops view it as an added expense that isn't needed.
