Blackstone Flat-Bottom V Thread
JR Boucicaut replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I finally got to talk to my figure skating test pilot today - She has been on it for 2 wks. She normally skates on a 7/16" ROH. I put her on 100/50. She is experiencing a bit more glide however feels like she needs just a little bit more edge. One thing that she did say that she was very impressed by was that she is able to get more speed on her spins, a direct result of not being as deep in the ice. I know that Blackstone will have a 105 or 115 FBV hollow soon, so it will help with glide issues as the blade is thicker. Depending on where we end up I am hoping to land Canada's reigning champion - he is training for Vancouver 2010 here in Orlando. -
Yeah, understandable, as there's more paperwork to be done tax-wise especially if you don't have an online presence. In my store, we had it built in to handle out of state orders, so I don't blame you at all, Peter.

If the customer is calling in the order from out of state, he doesn't have to charge sales tax as he will be shipping it to them. If you are physically in his store, then he does.

Judging by the way you handle a keyboard, I think it would be a horrible idea for you to use machinery. -

Well, if you had a Stealth (or a Liberty/Turbo with Spinner) from the beginning, there's nothing more to do than to buy the FBV Spinners. If not, you either had to a) buy a new machine with a Spinner, B) buy a new bowl and a Spinner system and modify your existing Blackstone (which involves cutting out space in your hood), c) buy a portable or d) buy the new standalone Spinner dresser. Basically, there's an investment involved, and it takes quite a while at $5 and up to pay off your initial investment. -

I mean, the FBV Spinners are $35 more than conventional Spinners. At this point in your case, you can't raise the price. -

Well, it's like an oil change. Putting standard 10W-30 as opposed to say, Mobil1. Same work, you're paying more for the better oil. -

Well, you guys already had the setup already, all you had to do was buy the FBV Spinners. Some stores had to buy new machines or alter their existing machines to do this. Other than that, if there is an advantage, why not charge more? -

Batgage comes with the accessory kit, not the machine. -

You will see a different color in the hollow...that tells you it is done. Why devalue a premium service? -
No, Nike Swift isn't a retail item.

JR said that if you sue a good 220 grit stone like the miracle stone it will not scratch the finish. You'll have to take them off and use a metal polish on them and a buffing wheel, carpolish won't be strong enough Miracle Stone is a whetstone, not a 220 grit stone. He's a sharpener, therefore needs the grit stone. MS should be used as a finishing stone. Next time, quote me correctly and don't put words into my mouth, mmmkay? I have no idea what a "heel center" is but I am assuming you guys are talking about where the working and heel radii meet. When you profile skates you are shaping the working radius, the heel and toe radii are blended in by hand.

Well, I've never had to sign NDAs for anything on here (I have when I went on a factory tour and whatnot) but yeah, it's essentially an agreement that I have with guys. I mean, if I scoop something before a dealer sees it, it's not a good situation for everyone involved. Although those days of me showing sales reps what their next year product looked like used to be fun but we've all grown up since then...

Wow, so cool, you have a picture of a videogame. :) Here's the thing - if you think you have a picture of something new, PM me first. I am willing to bet that I already have high-resolution pics, specs, release date and an agreement with the manufacturer's product manager as to when we're going to make the information public. That is what relationships get you. That being said, that day is coming really soon.

Sweet -if I don't get my machine in time I'll bring my spinners. -
They already put less steel on the Supreme (LS2P and LS2.1 has less blade height than LS2)

The Rocket runner wasn't a failure, it is a great product. Sharpeners who didn't know how to sharpen it properly, they were the failure. They were the ones who turned customers off to it. Many thought it was the blade and just didn't know it was just an incorrect sharpening. QFT

Looks like it was removed for some reason

Seriously, basing a stick shape from something made in a video game?

Well, Steve, that's exactly what I'm doing. Just finished chillin in the pool - and 4 beers so far. I hate this place. I was sweating my ass off sharpening. Ugh. Ran the machine and it seemed to have tightened up a bit. No, it was so hot the belt expanded. -

Here is my X02, taken apart - Tried to conduct my figure skate experiment, however the wheel started to slow down. Obviously it is the belt, and I have my theory on why this happened - high of 100 degrees outside which means my garage is like 130. Almost done fixing it, but it's too hot to work. -
Already did. :) sweeet man nice pickup i kno its a little late but ur one lucky mofo How so? He paid for it. :)
