Ok... two competing concepts for the same issue... Coronavirus! In one corner, hailing from Bauer.. the Bauer Face Shield. In the other corner, hailing from CCM... the CCM Game On Face Mask! Two very different solutions and to me this speaks to the issues we are facing. Below you will find pictures of each but here are the pros and cons as I see them... In the end everyone will decide for themselves what they like better, what their own levels of risk are, etc. Discuss.... Bauer CCM Pros Visibility excellent. Breathability – does not cover the nose. Lightweight. Cons Flimsy clear vinyl. Expected hard plastic. Bottom spaces of Concept III mask remain open. No protection of nasal particles. Only designed for Bauer Concept III mask. Cannot use cage. Pros Covers the nose. Superior protection from transmission Can fit Bauer or CCM masks. Can fit on clear plastic cages or wire cages. Cons Harder to breathe – nose is covered. Impacts lower peripheral visibility. Mask tighter – chin strap may need adjusting. Bauer: CCM

I have the splash guard and it's certainly not what I thought it would be. Envsioned hard plastic. This, as discussed, is pliable, clear vinyl. Didnt bother at all. It fogs but its so low it doesn't impact vision. Doesn't cover all slots but you do need air. I guess I'd say it mitigates "some" risk. I'm begrudgingly ok with it. Hate wearing the plastic bubble tho... oh well.

The only way a mask will work is if everyone is wearing one (unless its an N95). I support mask wearing 100% but there is no way we are getting all players to wear one. I've skated twice since this all started and no, I didn't wear one.

Played two weeks ago ands going again today. Its a very small private rent out with just 10 people. Only shooting, passing and drills. Just getting rust off. No scrimmage. It was really hard when I got on the ice at first... couldn't feel an edge at all. I blame the roller for that. After about 5-10 minutes I was fine. It was fun. Felt fairly safe. We will do it every other week.

Over the years I have gone from top of the line to the next level down. I've got modded Sher-Woods that provide enough for beer league but lack the big shoulder caps that I hate. I think you need to be protected and light but you sure dont need to be Ironman out there either.

I like the Tacks line.. not the top (heavier and bulkier and no need for that).. one down...9080s is the current iteration.

Rangers are more than a 2 man show. Kreider, Buch, Fox, D'Angelo all can bring offense. They say Kakko looks rejuvenated. They were one of the best teams in the league from January to the shut down. It might be hard for a young team like them to get that mojo back quickly but if they do they are dangerous.

I dont like the low O2 level. Have a cardiologist? May need to look at this more deeply. Maybe a blockage. Prayers for mom and wife... you've got alot on your plate brother.

The time has come!!!! Just got invited to a small private skate on Friday and I'm going. Only 10 guys. Invite only for guys who take the pandemic seriously and have been distancing and wearing masks. No locker rooms. No scrimmage. Just skill drills and shooting. No locker room either. This feels safe and I am going to take the dive and play!!! Very psyched. It will also be the first time I am on the ice since my stents were put in so it'll be great to see how I feel on the ice now.

First off, thank God you are ok. I didn't have a heart attack but I had three stents put in on March 2nd so I kinda dodged that bullet. I never felt symptoms but I had 3 90% blocked arteries. I was supposed to take about a month off and then Covid hit so I haven't been on the ice. Even though I am on some pretty heavy duty thinner the doc said I could play as long as I am careful. I'm down over 20lbs and walk and ride and roller blade every day so I can't wait to see how I feel on the ice!!!!! I dont think there is any reason you cannot play. To be honest once you get your get your diet and weight in line you'll be as good as new and hockey will help you. Just got news today that I am invited to a very small and safe skate on Friday so I will let you know how it goes. If you want to talk diet, recovery, etc send me a PM.

With my health issues I feel the same way. Hockey is listed as High Risk in NY as well.

Yeah, hard to fathom the risk but after losing over 21 lbs I'm dying to serif I'm any faster now!!!! Oh well. Just did a deep dive into NY's planning documents and I don't see hockey here coming anytime soon anyway. Participants in higher risk sports and recreation activities may only partake in individual or distanced group training and organized no/low-contact group training.

I have such mixed feelings but the truth is I know it is not safe... but until there is a vaccine. The question is how much of a risk am I willing to take. There will be a variety of factors we should all consider. What is the transmission rate where you live (I am in Nassau County, LI), what precautions are they taking at the rinks, will there be protective face gear like the Bauer shield? From everything I have read an indoor sport with close contact, air conditioning and heavy breathing is the single riskiest thing out there. I'd like to tell you I would wait... I am 53, have cardiovascular disease (3 stents), type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I also have my 86 year old mother in law living in my house. But I'm not sure... I just dont know....

Based on what? You think this is all a hoax? You live in AZ now... have you seen that the Covid numbers are skyrocketing? Florida through the freeking roof!

Honestly stretching a hockey skate like that is a tough ask. Even if you are successful with the rate kids grow how long would you get out of it? Depends how old she is I guess...

I find rollerblade skating impossible.... I constantly feel like I'm gonna die.

Bought the Bauer Hybrid two weeks into pandemic... prob won't do shit but I dont think the Concept 2 or 3 will either....

Lost 17 lbs, been walking, jogging and rollerblading... (had to buy rollers... never did that before).

I have to be honest, I find the topic you chose for this thread to be offensive - or at least overly provocative. There is a man behind the site that works incredibly hard for this community and that should always, in ,my opinion, be remembered. You could have just as easily asked the question, "why isn't more information about products being posted on MSH" This would have been valid and far nicer. As many have said the market has changed considerably. The way manufacturers deal with online information outlets has changed as well. I also think the way people consume news and information has changed and many prefer to listen to a video rather than write and discuss. I could get into what that says about us as people (not a good thing) but I will pass on it. Low hanging fruit as it were.... The good thing is we can do things to help.... post good topics. Share your experiences and reviews. Tell your friends about the site and, when the pandemic is over, come to events. In the end this site is what WE make of it.

That's what I'm thinking... and I'd be ok with that as long as overall infection rates are low.
