Ok, not mine personally, but I designed and had these done for a friends son, and they turned out awesome.

Step being made in Canada, and these being made overseas (from what I'm told), makes that decision simple.

MakoII D, generally I need a skate between D and EE, with a flatter arch and more volume. These in EE heated nice and I had zero issues.

Got to wear these at the SFS show. Hands down the best fitting and feeling skate I wore at the whole show. I was impressed by the way they accommodated my width and depth, generally K skates in the past have not.

Live your life in suspense?

I did. It was awful. The hard edges of the speed plates dig into your feet and all responsiveness and feel between the holder and your foot is gone.

I pulled the laces and tongue out and cut some excess tongue off. It's a bit of an extreme fix but it worked for me

Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener
Buzz_LightBeer replied to tamtamg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
If that's the worst sharpen your local place puts out, consider yourself fortunate. Ive been sharpening for 15+ years, I'm sure this Sparx will find its place in the niche markets, just as any other upstart product does. However, people who try to remove the element of human error also eliminate the element of human correction, which I submit is necessary to the art of skate sharpening. I'm curious as to how these machines will hold up durability wise, and how long-term calibration of them will be handled. I find it hard to believe these machines can sit in homes and sharpen for any length of time without requiring some maintenance. -
Their current Orange comes off way more as Burnt Orange, even at the retail offerings as well

I tried some in my MakoII's. Huge mistake. The raised edge all throughout the arch was painful, and the all around feel of the thin boot was gone.

Damn I miss PolarFibre. It's wishful thinking to hope the old IceAxe/3000 shape could make a comeback- 114 replies
