Bauer has had steel stock issues for years. That would bother me the most about this. They’d better be prepared to have ample supply for the foreseeable future if this is how they’re going about things. min my experience, I’d say pro guys are pretty in tune with their edges. But about 5% can tell you what they like and what they want. The rest will just tell you what they don’t like, or that something is off.

Thermoformable Stick Blades - Why Not?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to boo10's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
It was Branches that had it. As I recall it never really retained its new curve, and went soft REAL quick. -
Not from what I recall. It was a normal taper with exaggerated 45* angled corners

Rebaking skates after taking five years off. Good idea?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Being I suggested it in the other topic about this, I'm doubling down on it here. One100 is a reasonably stiff boot, and after 5 years of likely wearing unstructured footwear, and weight fluctuation, I'm sure your foot has changed noticeably since the last time you skated. Plus it's a terrifically easy fix if it works. -
Step steel blades brittle/chipping every skate!
Buzz_LightBeer replied to bangerjc's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Exactly. I think that’s what he’s describing, if I’m reading it correctly? id say there’s moisture causing some corrosion if that’s the case. But I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it on Step -

Usually pitting the way you’re describing it is a sign of corrosion. Graf used to be notorious for it. -
If you have a local place, I’d ask to have them rebaked first and foremost. Then try insoles after.

Do they get dried adequately between skates? -
In need of some opinions from the knowledgeable goalie guys. A friend is considering a set of JRZ Customs, but can't decide on a trapper. He is a fan of this VE8 Pro Carbon from Vaughn, but what model JRZ most closely fits the bill? https://vaughnhockey.com/products/velocity-ve8-pro-carbon/t-velocity-ve8-carbon-pro/ https://jrzglobalsports.com/hockey-goalie-catch-gloves-fusion-fz-1 https://jrzglobalsports.com/catch-glove-prime-pz-1

The return of Christian sticks?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to thelaterskater's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
They make all the non-CCM MIC goal sticks if I’m not mistaken? Is the intentions to bring wood sticks back to the market? -
The return of Christian sticks?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to thelaterskater's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Great, more cookie cutter Chinese direct to consumer sticks. Hopefully I'm wrong -
No, and the ones I've seen were very basic, and did not put any effort to making them present professional at all

“E” was the shaft build on the Trigger 4 I had seen.

This right here. Most are zippered with a Velcro closure up top

Are the blades bent in the holder, as in top to bottom, not front to back? also, standing on them while not on the ice might do that but not necessarily translate that to the ice

CCM Ribcore 80K Vs True/VH (different size feet)
Buzz_LightBeer replied to Bender37's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
That may be old info, as I haven't done CCM customs in a few years. But a shop with some knowledge could guide you further.- 10 replies

CCM Ribcore 80K Vs True/VH (different size feet)
Buzz_LightBeer replied to Bender37's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
If you're willing to go top end to get the proper fit, you may as well go custom. I haven't checked in a while, but if I recall properly, CCM holders only go up to 306, which come on size 12, so if you end up in a 13 and 11.5, you shouldn't have an issue getting the same size holders.- 10 replies

I skate on 280's, I found my preference was a 35/55 CagOne profile. When I moved on to ProSharp, I didn't care for the Quad I tried, you may want to try the Hudson V (Glide 50). One thing to consider, if you're skating every day, and sharpening often, is getting the profile redone 1-2 times per year, to ensure its staying consistent.

Eagle shoulder and shin pad retailer?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Aren’t you a retailer? Why not just call Eagle directly? -
Bauer custom skate ordering process?

That must drive shops nuts trying to get reimbursed for those purchases -
Helmet screws stuck and just spin in place?
Buzz_LightBeer replied to Oilers97's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Locktite blue is removable. The problem is sweat and moisture corroding the threads in there and they rust together. Blue locktite will help inhibit that, but letting those parts see the light of day and dry will do the most good. -
