Forsberg pads for lace bite for lazy people like me.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Ya I hit that tipping point alright. Just the left skate. Now I have every trick in the book to give the left skate more volume. Pads as described, changing the way I lace them up, even added a plastic extension piece for more forward flex etc. Now my left boot is... "perfect"? LOL.... Right boot is fine BTW... -
75 flex sticks. I wanted to be like Kessel:(

Forsberg pads for lace bite for lazy people like me.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
They have Velcro. Not sure what you mean. The Velcro stops them from shifting and since your tendon is in the middle it is basically locked in once laced up. They are pretty thick gel pads as well. Once you cut out the middle part it gives a lot of room for the tendon. Once you have them set up they are just a part of your skate. Mine have stayed there for a few years now. Either way the Forsberg idea is the best solution for bad lace bite and this is the fastest way to deal it as it takes 1 minute to set up. Plus it works. Then you can add other things if it is really bad like including a gel pad on top of the tendon. So Forsberg and gel pad. If that doesn't fix it... Wow... I wish I knew what caused the lace bite in the first place. I was doing fine for a long time then bang hit me hard and fast and never really went away... -
Buy gel pad seen in pic below but cut the middle part out. The two side pieces have Velcro on the back and will stay there. BOOM. Forsberg pads for lazy people like me... It works. Your welcome.

I'm 220lb and dropped to a 77 flex(p92 curve) just to try it out. It screwed up all my shots but the wrist shots were effortless. You might have a better result at 165lb

I changed from a 11' profile to the Quad 0.5. Good to know about lasting longer... I do LOVE the glide I get from the 3/4, for three games I loved it. Then one game was more bumpy/physical than normal and I was getting knocked down more than normal... So I tried the 11/16 and am on the fence with them cause I loved the glide from the 3/4 so much...

Do you have sharpen skates more often if they have a more shallow hollow? I went from a 5/8 to a more shallow 3/4 when I changed my profile to a Quad 0.5, normally I can go a long time between sharpens but now it seems I need to sharpen more often... I am going to a different guy to sharpen skates, that might be a reason also.

CCM CL shoulder pads. Top notch protection and you forget you have them on. -
I wear a cage and still have the SIDU in cause they are really comfortable. I do find they shrink like 1 mm when they cool down after molding, so it can make them really tight but... Best mouth guard I can find that I will actually use.

How rare is it to have a very slight bend in your skate blade.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
So I have one extra set of Step steel for the LS2. So I'm going to get those profiled and put on... I wonder what the odds are that it will fix everything. -

Do holders just give out over time as well? I have a pair of Bauer One 100. I'm wondering if I should just buy new steel, new holder or just new skates.... -
I noticed I had a slight bend in my skate blade. Probably been like that for a very long time. Store fixed it and it is an improvement but it is still not perfect straight. After talking to the guy I got the impression that it is a very common thing and not to worry to much if it is very small... Thoughts. My info: 220 pounds probably 240 with equipment on.

I can say with some confidence that very few people will buy a 399 stick but the 230 two piece sticks will fly off the shelves. I'm guessing two piece stick are easier to make and maybe more profitable? So...

Everytime they mess with the blade like this it makes the blade the weak point of the stick. True does this, CCM did this back in the day and always the first thing to break would be the blade. It usually works but the life of the stick will be a joke in my experience.

Where can I get this. Core shorts with jock.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
So basicly what they did was sew a old fashion jock inside core shorts, even has the two loops to put each leg though. I have used them for two games and love them. Once you postion the jock it is not moving. The velcro for the hockey socks is top notch. For 100 canadian shipped I think they are perfect. -
Ya the numbering system is strange for the 0.5. Quad 0: 6-9-11-13 Quad 1: 6-9-12-15 Quad 2: 7-10-13-16 Quad 0.5: 8-10-12-14 So given my stats 9.5 size, 280 blade, 220 pounds Quad 1 is suggested, not sure what 0.5 is suggested for... Skate on a 11' (use to be 13' back in the day) trying to work my way down in number but not to the point of falling(9' is to small for me) so the 0.5 looked perfect to me. Great post. Thank you.

Has anyone tried the Quad 0.5 profile? Backstory: So I went on YouTube to do some research on Quad profiles and found the channel Hockey Tutorial who talks about it and in the end he said the best for him was the Quad 0.5 which is a 8-10-12-14 profile. So me coming from an 11' I figured this would be a good place to start. yet no one here has a review. Apparently the Quad 0.5 does not come standard with the machine. As far as I can tell it is a $88 part so no idea why shops don't have it but that is another story/question...

Where can I get this. Core shorts with jock.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Apparently the company is in both bc Canada and Florida and they ship out of Florida... I get the feeling that they are starting up after getting the patient back... not cheap at the moment but I feel like I found a unicorn so I dont care. Update: so they ended up charging me in Canadian dollars so the price was 105 canadian shipped after tax etc. So not bad at all. -
Where can I get this. Core shorts with jock.
Beflar replied to Beflar's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I emailed the company and got this as a reply! Good day Michael, As a matter of fact we do have a coreshorts hockey model with a jock insert. We have not released them yet on our site . The short runs $86.00 USD . If you decide you would like to order one, please let me know and i can have someone from our office reach out to get the necessary information. On our site there is a sizing chart . It is important to use that as a guide tool as the short should fit like a second skin. please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. happy holidays ross 226-927-3773 ross@coreshorts.com -

I'm looking for this: UNDER ARMOUR CORESHORT PRO SENIOR COMPRESSION JOCK SHORT Or something like it. Right now I put a jock on which are in compression shorts then core shorts over top. If I can find these I can shed a layer but I think they stopped making them...

2014 Bauer Hockey Catalogue
Beflar replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2014 Product Catalogue Reviews
I remember last year there being a large drop off between the Nexus 1000 stick vs the next step down the Nexus 600. I was surprised there was nothing in between. What do you think the drop off is like between this years Nexus 8000 vs the Nexus 7000? Seems closer, I see one piece vs two piece but considering it's a mid flex, probably notice it less. Thoughts? I have to explain these things to my wife when I pay 300 for a hockey stick. -
2013 Easton Hockey Catalogue

Funny thing about the hall curves is i know what they are talking about when they mention loading the toe on the shot. The only problem with it is it rises very fast and is hard to aim. Feels like it takes a while to load as well. I use a 85 flex and these shots are like circus shots. Have to be inside the dots if im going to hit the net:)
