  1. Hmmm from the pics. I think I'll stick to warrior lids for now...
  2. I would imagine it's an easy mod to put on. It was always Velcro though just a different way to secure the Velcro strip that attached to the tongue.
  3. No not yet. Thought it would be quicker on here since
  4. About my broken tab? Well I got my skate back and they pretty much just redid what I initially did by epoxying the Velcro to the underside of the toe box. Which was a waste of time if you ask me. Almost 4 weeks without the skate to have them do what I already did.... Four weeks for something that takes ten mins to do and a 24 hr cure at most What made it worse was when they told me it was likely the toe cap would be replaced, and my fitter removed the holder in anticipation of that. So now I have to go back to my fitter to have the holder reinstalled. I'm only inquiring about the bolt system bc I actually like it better and seems like a better solution long term. I'll leave the epoxy until it ( if it) ever starts to fail.
  5. Anyone know what type of nut is on the underside of this. Is it just a t nut like the ones on our helmets? Also, is the thread the same?
  6. I don't think any helmet out there will look "right" on his melon.
  7. I wonder if you get to choose post July 15th... Or if they completely stopped producing the original
  8. With their old steel it would literally Outlast the skates.....
  9. Three weeks and counting.. Still haven't gotten my skates back 🙄
  10. Also, their steel for the original holder was ridiculously tall. And it's quite a bit of weight that can be taken off just by reducing the steel a bit.
  11. From pictures I've seen step is making the steel for the new holders. Below is the ig acct for pro skate corner. Some pics of the new tongue. Theres more pics floating out there on IG.
  12. Looks the same to me. Carbon fibre with resin.
  13. You mean the holder? Only thing that looks kind of similar is the design around the vents of the holder seems similar to the xs/SB 4.0
  14. Looks like the release system might be the blue part pushing in from side to side to lock/unlock?
  15. Do you know if the new carbon is already being used or is it specifically starting on orders mid July onwards (when they release the actual new features publicly).
  16. Ya I got a reply. Shipping out tomorrow. Kind of disappointed when the guy said he believed the same toe cap was kept. Only reason I sent it out was bc they initially said they'd likely have to change it. I'm interested to see how they "fixed" it.
  17. Two weeks and still haven't received my skates back from repair... Emailed a few days ago and no reply. Getting a bit impatient now seeing I've only had these skates for a month and have only been able to use them for two ice times. By next week it will be the same amount of time it took to have my skates made in the first place.
  18. Not sure about the guys in the States but here in BC we have rolls of shrink wrap for 3 dollars for a roll vs 13 bucks at hardware stores.
  19. U should be able to tell if they were baked properly if they were soft when they came out. When I baked mine at home I did NOT turn the oven off. I kept it on at 180-190 for the entire 10 mins. I also did one skate at a time. I also did each skate 5 mins on each side. I have a convection as well. Even if you didn't get the best bake or mould you shouldn't really be swimming in them. You should use the stretch wrap and or tensor technique on both the ankle and fore foot area and if that doesnt work then you may need a remake. You shouldn't have to crank on the laces at all.
  20. I'm glad I did it as well. But if i har them come mounted with true holders I would've just used them until the holder broke or steel wore... So could've been never 😆
  21. If you had any thoughts of not using the true holder you should've had them come unmounted and/or drilled to the holder you plan on using. That's what I did. It'll prevent the additional holder removal which could cause a slight increase in the rivet hole size, and also ensure the holes are lined up perfectly to the holder you're planning on using. Yes the holes line up more or less but from what I've heard and seen it's not exact. This isn't crucial but since the true skates are known for rivet issues in general, it'll minimize the chances of this happening even more.
  22. If it's the height then use powerfoot inserts. Or move the tongue lower...
  23. Did you bake them or no? If not baking them may help alleviate some areas. Even though it's not recommended you can bake them and stand on them (not walk) so your feet expand and it might possibly widen the skates a bit when theyre warm.
  24. If they slimmed it down it wouldnt it affect width issues for ppl? The only reason it looks bulky is bc it's longer than other brands as it incorporates the first two eyelets in it otherwise it's fairly the same from the first eyelet on, however the new CCM and Bauer skates have reduced the height of their toe caps recently too
