If you've had a few skates in them with no issue I don't think you will have issues. I haven't read anywhere about ppl saying they have issues bc of no comfort edge. Ppl complain about not having them but just bc other brands have them not bc it causes issues.
-
Only way to see is to try em. I've never needed any type of comfort edge on my skates though so my experience wouldn't be helpful to you on that regard.
-
Do u NEED the feature though? If you look at your skates about 1/4 inch of the top of the skate isn't even hard it's just the liner and faux leather and its soft. There's even a crease which will show you where the Thermo plastic ends Pretty much replicates what a comfort edge is but not a totally separate piece sewn on. The comfort edge on the as1 and Bauer's aren't even much of a comfort edge and imo are even harder than the top of the Trues.

Glad it worked out for him.

If mine ever came loose or off I'd replace the rivets with black helmet screws. I'd imagine they would look similar tot the goalie skates without the tendon guard with slight differences such as the comfort pad and lundqvist loop
-
Am I the only one that hasn't had any tendon guard rivet issues with true skates? I always make sure I don't use them to take the skates off nor do I use it to hold on to when getting the ice off the steel etc. The ppl that are having issues do you also put ur hockey socks over the tendon guards? I don't see how the tendon. Guard would come loose unless you do one or all of the three above.

Why not just bring it to the shop it's a five min fix for both. Or u can replace it with a t nut and screw.

Wow..... Could've just epoxied the existing holes that he didn't want to potentially expand and redrill those to line up with the holders. Were those oversized holders or just replacing the same size with edge ones?

I stocked up on the ek365s bc I love the weight and how I shoot with it. And the fact I got them for about 100 cdn each. I'd never spend more than 160ish cdn on a stick.

It's whatever you're comfortable with. When ops first came out they were equivalent to prob the mid range ones now at best. Back then we thought they were (and they were at the time) the best. Now some won't even think about using a similar spec stick. I see it kind of like being spoiled. Better not to try out a stick that's the next best thing and 300+ bucks if what you have now works. Because it'll just mess you up psychologically lol. But it's also a marketing thing where new models come out every year or so.

What shop? Also, is there supposed to be pics?

The only diff between the total custom and 3d custom is the additional customization you can get done including diff skate size. The actual moulding process around the custom foot last is exactly the same. Just like Bauer, CCM isn't "built" around your foot last. It's essentially baking on steroids. The boot formed around a last made from your scan.

Its normal for the foams to compress a bit esp with the true bc the padding around the ankles is noticeably more than other skates. Also the tongue will also compress as well. It's always a good idea to do another rebake after the first couple mths using new skates to really dial them in. My last rebake was my third rebake. Used the shrink wrap method and really wrapped the hell out of them. Been a couple mths and no issues since. First bake was conventional bake and tie laces at 80%. Second was shrink wrap but I only went around like five times so didn't really maximize the wrap.

Dri fit is good as they wick a lot of sweat but the downside is that the sweat then gets trapped between the sock and the skate liner, and depending on the liner and type of insole it can cause some slipping. The worst combo for me was the true cut resistant socks and clarino liners. Try wearing cotton socks, they actually work quite well to reduce slippage or any type of movement caused by excess sweat/moisture. Also some dri fit materials are so soft they are like silk. This may feel super comfy but also isn't very good for gripping the skates liner.

Anyone know what the difference in the height of Trues vs say bauer or CCM from the base of the outsole to either the comfort edge or the the centre of the top eyelet? Just curious how much lower the Trues are.

Just saw this now even though it was released in May.

I like to compare it to a custom suit. You still have to have fittings after the suit is made for adjustments, whether it's bc your personal preference is to have a tighter or looser during garment etc.
-
Also everyone has their personal preference on what the "perfect fit" is. Thing is some ppl like their skates super tight some looser some with eyelets all the way to the stop some 1+ more skipped etc, along with different stiffness preferences. One of the downsides with true is the customer had NO idea what to expect because theres no retail or demo pair for them to try on.. it would be beneficial for each store to have full sizes available to heat mould for the prospective customer, so they have an idea what they are getting themselves into, and maybe from that advise what they wanted different from the stock one they tried on.
