Does anyone have info on this chassis or seen anything about it? since they’re on Trues I’m not not sure if it’s something from True or perhaps some new Revision chassis. Looks interesting with all the cut outs in the frame and the way it’s attached to the boot.

Materials for making replacement protective liners
the_game replied to flip12's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Bauer uses that poron material on the backhand liner of their gloves, might be able to find something similar to that to use as the 'foam' for your replacement liners. That material might be too hot though, but just an idea. -
Advice Kuzak old school chassis set up
the_game replied to Sprungdownunder's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
You can't really 'rocker' a hi-lo chassis and expect to get the results you describe here, they're just not designed for that. I'm also unsure if you could actually use either 72mm or even 80mm wheels this chassis as they might not fit given the 68-68-72-72 set up. I'm all for trying new things but unfortunately I don't think you are going to get your desired results here and would be best off keeping the set up of this chassis. If you wanted to get into 'rockering' a chassis you're either gonna need a time machine or hope a pair of Suregrip frames pop up on ebay. I think I remember them having the ability to rocker the front and back wheel, the axel hole came oversized and offered different shims to give the front and back wheel a rocker. I remember way back in the 90's a lot of people rockering the front wheel on this chassis to get more of an ice feel, I never tried them so I can't really comment. -
Is there an ETA for a retail/cheaper option?
-
Was just watching and looking at close up pics of Crosby, looks like he shims the front of his holder and the back end is sightly offset. Would this set up mimick something like that? From the website it does look like there is a shim that you attach to the bottom of your insole?

Is it just me or does the rear tower on the new holder look huge? -
Isn't it just going to be whatever is the newest Bauer boot plus the Kryptonium hi-lo chassis? Maybe a different manufacturer wheel, but pretty much the same as previous years offerings I would think.

hey @caveman27Good to hear you're progressing and getting better! I know with my issue it was across the board with what surgeons have you do in terms of recovery and rehab so maybe your surgeon didn't think you needed PT. As long as you are listening to your body and progressing I think you're fine. Good luck with the next appointment and keep us posted!

I’m still using the superfeet I had vacuum fitted years ago, love them. and I’m getting old @JR Boucicaut my gear recollection isn’t what it once was.

Someone has to have the old CCM Machine (FIT?) laying around that they used on the VAKU Tacks back in 93 or 94. Now if it works or would work is another story but would be cool to try I guess.

Sawwwwwwft! I walked to school up hill, both ways, in 6 feet of snow...ok it wasn’t uphill but we never had school cancelled because it was cold or because there was a dusting of snow.

Ha, I am pretty sure my buddy played in this league when he was living out in Cali, he said it was one of the main reasons he wanted to move back east. That's just too bad, whats the point if you know that team is going to smoke you, not fun. Sorry dude.

As an older gent like yourself but many many moons removed from weighing 150 lbs I can suggest we used Windex way back in my day to 'add grip'. I'll be honest its been a while and I don't remember if it actually worked or not but maybe give it a shot over a replacement set of wheels for $90? Would also have to ask what wheels do you use, brand wise? What type of surface, etc.? Its been a while since I was on wheels but when I used to play I would try every wheel there was and I would always end up back with Labeda Addictions.

I think that color tab thing is dumb and distracting, but otherwise looks like your typical Mission inline skate. If anything I wish they paid more attention to gloves and came up with something that wasn't a 'stock' vapor glove with an embroidered logo. For my money, even in their failures, Mission before the Bauer acquisition was always pushing the glove design and for the most part came up with some neat gloves that fit well and looked great. There were some duds for sure, but at least they were trying. I'd really like to see Bauer let Mission go back to designing gloves but I get the whole cannibalizing their own product line and realize it won't happen.

I’m gonna go with yes there are a good number of these cases. I know of probably a dozen or so people who have gotten lucky because someone ponied up the cash for true/VH skates only to end up selling them for whatever reasons and most times at a pretty big loss. And I’ll add as someone who has gotten a pair secondhand that they fit and perform amazingly even if not made specifically for you. No issues, bake em, lace em up and go skate never had any problems. Call it luck I guess or perhaps there’s a chance the product is that good and you can dial in a fit even if its in the ballpark of your foot. -
Congrats! Recovery road can be tough, beat advice I can give is listen to your docs/surgeons, don’t push it, listen to your body, and do not ready anything on the internet about your surgery ha! if PT is in the cards try to find a good one who understands what your goals are post recovery and work your ass off getting as close to 100% as possible.

Best area for hockey vacation?
the_game replied to Amazinmets73's topic in General Hockey Discussions
If you can afford to go on a 2 month vacation I am curious as to why any location would be cost prohibitive ha. -
I'm almost 2 years removed from having Cervical Spine surgery. Had ACDF, Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion on my C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6, 3 levels of having my discs removed, spacers put in and a titanium plate put in place to solidify everything up. Now I call "recovery" the time it took from surgery until I could start getting again which was about 6'ish months and now I'm back skating 2-3 times a week. For real life recovery, I was back to work in a little under a week (office job but I was able to work from home), couldn't lift anything more than 15 lbs for a while and had driving restrictions as well for about 2 months'ish and then did about 3 months of PT 2 times a week. The worst part about any of this was the catheter getting taken out after surgery. Also I lost some movement in my neck in how far I can turn my head which I am totally fine with because I have an excuse when I don't pass on the ice. I was scared out of my mind going into surgery but at the same time I had spinal cord compression from a calcified disc that if I got in an accident or fell wrong, well lets just say it would not have ended well, so I didn't have a choice really. I woke up from surgery and all the symptoms and pain were all gone, except for the catheter that's awful, I was up walking the next day I just had a nice scar on my neck. I know its not the same surgery but its fairly close and I'll bet it will probably be the best decision you make and I don't doubt given some time and recovery you'll be back on skates. Another side note with this, I have a partially torn labrum and my hip would kill every know and then, saw an ortho who said surgery but I said it wasn't that bad yet. This was before the ACDF neck surgery, but yea I get that surgery wake up and I can feel a difference in my gait when I'm walking and even skating and my hip hasn't bothered me since. Feel free to PM me with any questions if you'd like @caveman27

I guess I'm old enough now to play the 'back in my day' card and explain to these whippersnappers what a heavy skate really is. Not to mention if my dad spent a grand on skates and I whined to him that they were too heavy, he would've duct taped 20lbs weight to my ankles everyday and told me to get stronger to get used to the weight. I've been around this game long enough and worn enough pairs of skates that given a choice I'm taking a pair of True/VH over every pair I've ever worn. Not only for the comfort/fit factor but because I actually think the fit of the skate will put you in the proper position and make you a better skater. OK maybe not a better skater, you're not gonna go from beer leaguer to McDavid, but maybe a better way to describe it is skating will feel more natural. Count me in and call me a Kool-Aid drinker but as far as I'm concerned I won't use another skate.
