Tape

Recommended Posts

There have been a few topics on this but none of them were really that helpful, anyways.. I want to buy tape in bulk online (clear and white) and I've found a few sites were you can do it but not very many list the brand of tape, and if they do its Renfrew which I know that I do not want. So does anybody know of any online retailers that I can buy tape that I know for sure isnt bad tape, because if Im going to buy 100 rolls of tape I dont want it to be bad tape. I normally use Andover brand and I couldnt order it off of their website, so any comments on where to buy it and what kind I would be getting?

For clear definitely go Renfrew...but I'm not impressed with Renfrew cloth tape. I would try Jaybird for cloth, theirs is pretty good

IMO the best cloth tape is Andover but their sock tape blows, Renfew has good sock tape but their cloth tape is horrible, leaves sticky stuff all over your blade when you take if off. Have you talked to your lhs about getting a bulk order through them?

Can't beat Jaybird. Call them up and order a case, it's like a dollar a roll or less depending on the size. I don't know about their poly tape though, you prolly should stick with Renfrew for the poly shin tape.

We had some major issues with our Jaybird, that's why we dumped them. It usually worked well enough for me but some of the rolls were just falling apart right out of the box. We have had very good luck with Andover so far.

Exactly...even at this moment as I am trying to tape my sticks, I'm getting residue off of my stick, and i just taped it tonight...I hate this tape but it's the only kind my LHS orders

Hi i'm from argentina, and the only tape i can get here (and i have a roll that i bought in USA) is the renfrew.

Why do you say that this tape is bad?? I use it in the but end, and i put in the blade (i play roller hockey).

Can you tell me why this tape is bad, and if i don't should use it for the but end (recently i bought a pair of eagle X70, and i'm very paranoid about how to take care the palm of the gloves).

Thanks

If I used renfrew for ice it falls off after 1 period, so I have to tape my stick inbetween period, even with wax I only get 2 periods. Is there anywhere online I can order it and not get killed on shipping? So I guess it sounds like renfrew or andover shin (I've used the new andover and its nice) and andover cloth... Anybody know of any websites?

Has anyone heard of "e-hockey" tape? Any good? There's a good deal for some on ebay, and I'm looking to get a dozen or so white, and a dozen or so black and don't want to end up with schitte.

I use a brand called Lowry. With Renfrew i have to retape every game, Lowry tape lasts me 4-5 games. It's very durable and doesn't fray up like Renfrew. I've purchased several rolls of different colour and they're all consistent. I suggest giving those a try. I got mine at the hockeyshop. Their sock tape is also pretty good. It costs a bit more than renfrew (50cents canadian maybe) but it's worth it.

here's their site.

What's TheTapeGuy's website? Can't you order bulk from him?

www.northamericantapes.com Comp-o-stik is the hockey tape, I used the clear and white and love both of them respectively

We sell jaybird in the shop. I think their black cloth is great. Never had a problem with any of their cloth tape. Their clear poly tape seems ok, too.

All the hockey stores are going out of business here so i get andover at scheels. Seems to be ok. Few unraveling problems. The one think i wasnt pleased about is one time they stiched to 1/2 rolls together to make a full one.

I bought some of Howie's Hockey tape. Definitely the highest quality tape that I have used, but it comes at a price.

The guys at Howie's were also good at making a mixed case with me.

FYI- that is from the tension when being wound. not to do with the cloth or the adhesive. if the roll is would just a bit too loose, it will peel from the end of the roll, giving it the appearance that the adhesive is bad, which is not the case.

Renfrew has 2 types of black and white, the regular stuff with the blue core sucks, it falls off in no time, but now we carry there CMP and it work as well if not better than Andover I think, the CMP has a black core.

I agree with the Renfrew comp gold tape. Hard to find though. I did use regular Renfrew without problem until lately...but just bought some Tape-O tap, hopeuflly that's better.
