Getting blades snapped off when they get wedged in the boards. It's happened a couple of times and always on a brand new blade. Just crap ABS blades, though.

Nike Ignite 1 Shaft - I hardly take slap shots - mostly wristers and snap shots and I'm generally not too hard on blades and shafts so most last me quite a while. This shat only lasted about 6 months and then basically folded in the middle while I was taking a wrist shot. I liked the shaft when I had it, but expected it to last longer than that. I now have a Nike Apollo shaft that I like and that's held up fine for 4 months...hopefully it lasts longer than the Ignite shaft.

my picks would be inno 1100 shaft...broke 24th day i had it, but it was because a puck hit the kick point when blocking a shot. sherwood 5030 woodies never lasted me long...04' easton ultralite pro gloves gone in 3 months...and then easton wood blades are hit or miss.

I think it was a ccm cage, I was filling in for our goalie and I took a shot to the cage and it just caved in, granted had I not been playing goalie I'm sure the cage would have lasted a long time.

You can't judge sticks soley on how long they last, you have to remember, many a$$whipes, over-flex the sticks too much in the LHS's, weakening them. Then you, unsuspecting buyer, pick one up and it breaks first time you use it.

Morale of the story, don't flex sticks in the stores, it proves nothing!

It's one thing to give it a quick flex to get the feel, it's another to flex and hold it. It's when people try to maintain a flexed stick for more than an instant where problems are created.

hahahaha...I learned that the hard way...bye bye NIke Quest Apollo. That shaft just exploded on me right near my bottom hand when I was "testing" the flex

I remember when Jofa came out with their composite shaft (mid-90's) I got one while I was at a roller hockey tournament. The stick was in the car, in the sun and I took it out to get ready for a game.

I pulled it out, and was showing it to a friend. I flexed it and the whole bottom of the shaft caved....dammit!

Now when I heat a shaft up to put a blade in, I don't touch it for an hour or so afterward...lol.

I really liked the Jofa 9800 shafts. Leaving any shaft in a hot car in the sun will do damage to it.

Yeah, I had no idea of that back then ;)....that was when composite shafts were just starting to come out.

The first few Easton Z-Carbons I had were horrible. One broke after one practice and two periods of a game. The second lasted me a whole week. <_< Now they seem to last longer though.

One of my '04 Si-Core grips cracked during my first practice with it after I re-directed a shot.

Louisville Response(the very first ones). The blade cracked on a clearing attempt in the 2nd period of my first game with it. This was my very first OPS and haven't touched one since. Turned out to be an incredible Tapered shaft though.

A wood Nike I bought...

Chopped it, taped it, flexed it, friggin' hand went straight through it..

Was supposed to be stiff flex too... like a bloody match stick it was.

Also did something similar with a blue z bubble. Think I must have over heated it cos soon as it cooled I flexed it and cracked the tapered bit. £100 down th drain in five minutes

Inno graphite shaft circa 1995 (black with blue graphics and shark-grip)

it had a really small handle and flared out a little towards the bottom to accept standard blades. Broke on me when I tried to fit a blade in it. I prob overheated, though.

Z-Bubble Grip 02 or 03 model broke straight through the taper on my first slapper.

The friggin' PF1000. Bought one, first shift out it exploded on a little slash I took. Took Inno a while to get their crap together.

Yeah,...that´s the one. It has never even seen the ice for me as it was the very first blade I tried to put in.

I do remember having a problem getting a blade in there, but I just filed it down some before I put in there. I just remember going around the net, someone one-hands me and my stick's sliding out into the slot.

I did. There was just a slight bit missing for the blade to fit in completely so I grabbed the blade and knocked the butt end on the ground. Not really hard even...just like you do when a blade doesnt pop in completely. It totally ripped the shaft apart I held the blade plus maybe 10" of the shaft in my hand.

Edit: I was probably lucky I didn´t end up with the rest of the shaft stuck in my forearm as the fibre looked pretty nasty...it didn´t break evenly. I looked like a harpoon :P

Had a pair of Mission M3's that the backroll exploded off the glove after going into the corner. Got whacked on the back of the hand and the whole thing popped off.
