sickwilly 37 Report post Posted October 18, 2010 We were playing the final game in a peewee tournament againt a more local team.During scrum, I lost my balance and fell on the puck. As I was trying to get up, one of the opposing players jumped on my back, knocking me back to the ice. I tried to get up again, with this clown on my back. The ref called me for delay of game. Of course they scored on the power play. The whole game was filled with ridiculous calls against our team.
shotty 7 Report post Posted October 18, 2010 two seasons ago, right off the opening face off of a game, this dude on the other team wanted to fight. im shadowing him and he's tapping my shins with his stick, trash talking me. im trash talking back, really thinking about dropping the gloves. then all of a sudden there's a big turn over as their D change, i get up into the play and it turns into a 2 on 1 (we're both D on this 2 on 1) my teammate who has possession throws a beauty pass at the top of the circle and i pick it up and throw it over the goalies glove, i turn around and glide backward into the boards to accept the embrace of my teammates and notice that the ref's arm is up. turns out we both got unsportsmanlike penalties for the trash talking, but he decided not to call it until after the first whistle... which just happened to be after my goal. i scored and got a penalty on the same play. never seen that happen beforelast season i was in a spirited battle in front of the net, i give the forward standing in front of the net a little shove and he goes FLYING. stick and gloves scatter and i get a cross checking penalty. as i get out of the box, one of their players is seagulling so i go to cover him, right before he gets the pass i bump into him and he falls down, totally interference, but no call. i figured io got away with it due to the BS call from earlier. rachael7 1 Report post Posted October 19, 2010 Game 3 of a 4 game weekend tourney, down 3-0 midway through the third, I'm playing D and pinching in on the right side. Puck pops up my way, I step around the forward covering me and fire low and hard. Shot goes through the 5 hole with enough on it to clang the iron at the back of the goal and pop back out. Ref is too out of position to see it and believes the other team when they claim it hit the post and never went in. So much for the beginning of our late game rally

duul 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2010 Last season got 3 extra games for saying "#$%*in right" after my first ever fight hahaha. But I agree with the others, I'm not a dirty player at all, but definitely get away with more stuff than what's called.

So much for the beginning of our late game rally that actually reminds me of one. game 1 of the finals. this team had a 28 game winning streak going into the final round (i think they lost 2 or 3 games all season). we are leading 2-1 with about 2 minutes go to in the 2nd period, dude takes a wide, low shot, it hits the yellow strip at the bottom of the end boards, and slides UNDER the frame of the net and into the goal. the refs count it as a goal, even after we showed them what happened. we ended up losing the game 4-2 and taking a 1-0 deficit in the series. fortunately we came back to win the next two games to take the championship (game 2 won in OT, game 3 we won in shootout), so all was well, but that was a serious turning point as we totally deflated after the refs allowed that goal to stand. i took a nasty knee on knee hit (which went uncalled) shortly after that lame goal, then blocked about 3 shots off my foot in one shift. i literally hobbled home that night, pissed off. taking the championship from a team that finished the season 29-3 (or something crazy) was pretty sweet though. We're on the attack, but our defense doesn't communicate and no one is left back to defend. Guy loses the puck and they have a 3 on 0. I book it to get back and one of their players blatantly "blind sides" me to the ground at center rink (I assume to prevent me from breaking up the play). The worst call part is that I get called for interference and not him. Bullcrap :/We ended up winning 7-4 but still...

nickerjones 8 Report post Posted October 20, 2010 our whole game Sunday was full of horrid calls but some pretty good quotes from the refs..After a opposing player clears the puck from their goal line all the way around our net. We asked about icing . That wasnt Icing , that was just a bad pass that went all the way down? After one of our guys is tripped going around their player . The ref said it looked like a trip but it didnt mean the criteria. We are on a 5-3 a brewers guy falls on the puck and lays there for 22 seconds...Ref is standing there doing nothing..... 22 seconds Not that it mattered we couldnt get a shot on net to save our lives anyway.... Countless times I heard them call our players dumbshits and jackasses ... Pretty funny stuff
scorpionhockey55 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2010 Haha. How would you know that? ;-)From the opposing teams perspective, what did you think of the call?i honestly dont remember the exact call. could be because i was helping on the bench, could be because there were 02394820923840298340 penalties in that game hahaha. im sure there were missed calls from both ends though. reddevils9119 1 Report post Posted October 26, 2010 I got called for a penalty while on the bench and had a shot that hit the back bar of the net get called no goal, but I'd say that the best that I witnessed was one of my teammates in bantams get a penalty for yelling at and pushing a kid, who was on OUR team! Didn't know you could get a penalty against your own team.

The last 2 years at the officiating clinics they showed the incident report just for kicks. And they actually changed the fighting rule for hockey canada (most likely because of this). It now reads "A major and a game misconduct will be assessed any player who fights with an opponent."
JBarrera 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2010 From my minor hockey days. Got a slashing penalty. Problem was, I wasn't on the ice when it happened. My teammate made the offence and came straight to the bench. The ref called for #9 (me) when it should've been #8 (teammate).
Chadd 916 Report post Posted November 5, 2010 A couple weeks ago I got a penalty after a guy jumped me and started throwing punches. He got one for roughing too, but all I did was slash him across th back of the leg. Three times. Damn refs.
Husker 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2010 I got called roughing in a non-contact league with the puck on my stick for skating through someone. I tried to make a move wide but the defenseman on the other team knew he was beat and just stepped into me and got ran over.

empirehockey 1 Report post Posted November 5, 2010 Got a roughing penalty once for following a guy into the corner after he took an extra whack at our goalie, got in his face he gave me the old glove jab to the face 3 times and all I did was get closer to him (borderline head-butting distance, although I didn't touch the guy). After the game the ref (who also happens to be a good friend of mine) told me that I needed a punch in the face

Neal 41 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Had a nice one last night. I'm playing defense and a forward is coming in 1 on 1. He tries to put the puck between my legs and go around me. To do so he has to lift this stick over my head. It gets tangled around my neck and shoulder and when he jumps past he ends up on his ass. I get two for interference. ndlancer95 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Got a horrible call against me today. the puck was skittering around the boards behind my d zone net, and I see my d partner chasing it, so I let up, and the guy chasing me passes me and gets hit by my partner, and the puck pops out so I take it and I get a penalty for slashing because apparently the red sad that I slashed him and that's why he fell, not because my freight train of a d partner ran him over
adam14 182 Report post Posted November 8, 2010 in the OUA over the weekend there was a pretty interesting one. McGill is beating Nipissing 4-3 in the last 5 minutes. One guy from Nipissing gets a breakaway, at the hashmarks he gets hooked down from the chasing defense man, he loses balance from the hook, slides into the net the puck didn't go in, the Nipissing player gets 2 minutes for goalie interference. Grinder 2 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 Go strong around the outside of a guy roughly my size (6', 215) and have a clear lane to the net. He clutches me, with his stick hand in front, gets me in a bear hug, and tries to pull me down. I stay up, with the puck on my stick under control, so he starts heaving to throw me off balance. I'm pretty much trying to skate with him dry humping me from behind (the guys on my bench were killing themselves laughing), and we finally collapse in a heap. Whistle blows, and I'm thinking tripping, hoping penalty shot, and the ref sends us both off - "I know he tackled you, but it looked like you were holding his stick as you tried to keep upright..." I seldom beak at the refs (what's the point) but I burst out laughing and started skating to the box. He made the mistake of asking what was so funny, and I managed to giggle out "I was just wondering if that sounded as stupid inside your head as it did when it came out of your mouth..." literally doubled over and still skating to the box. DIDN'T get an extra two, because the other ref told him he solicited the comment.
Krev 86 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 Interesting call against me yesterday. Battling in the corner with another guy, and he's not happy that I've been shadowing him all game. Gets body position on me, so I work my way around his right side, his top hand. He sees this, and elbows me in the face. I grab my nose, and I'm bleeding. Whistle blows, and I'm thinking "Awesome, he caught the elbow." ...nope, I'm getting two minutes for unsportsmanlike aka embellishment. As we're skating to the box he sees that I'm bleeding, reaches out to take a look at the cut and says: "Oh, oops." I'm trying my best to not scream at him being that I've also made bad calls. I just go "Yeah, 'oops' is right," as I grab his sleeve that is still pretty close to my face, wipe the blood on it, and hop the boards to the box.
