Ryan 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Yes, as pictured those skates would be a problem.
Kyle_M 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 It's like putting holders on a foot cast and saying they're skates... ;)
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Mission uses carbon fibre in their skates, but just around the foot area - leaving the ankles supple enough. I've heard that Easton has done quite a few revisions to their SyNergy skate and found a happy medium between too stiff and too flexible.
PH_Hockey2 4 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Those skates look horrable(not that look matters)I would never buy that skate, especally if I havent herd of the company before. I think I will stick to my graf's
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Tendon guard looks very vapor-ish.
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 As does the pics with Tuuks on them...I smell another lawsuit...
Guest SiCkMoVes Report post Posted May 12, 2004 The snow boots..I mean skates look gangsta
asdfa 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 if the boot is made out of composite, wouldn't it crack/break eventually?
bulletproof_funk 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Probably not from flexing the boot from skating. However much it flexes remains to be seen. I can see it cracking from taking a slap shot or going into the boards.
kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 guess we wont know how they are until someone trys a pair :)
bulletproof_funk 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Here's a link to the DC clip I saw the other day:http://www.exn.ca/video/?video=exn20040510-skate.asx
Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Wow, thats really neat. I like the idea, it makes sense to me. I wish they weren't so expensive, or I'd try a pair.
Gongshow11 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 the skates on the DC clip have tuuks, razor blades, and t blades. The idea of the skate makes sense to me, the turns were nice
Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 They probably covered their a**. I doubt they would be that stupid.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Nobody in the video had very much forward flex in their strides. I also liked them trying to put a positive spin on being "more upright" in your posture.
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 LOL just saw it too...Exactly what Chadd said...As far as the different holders, that doesn't mean anything...it's when the final product comes out...what holder are they going to use?
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 They can probably get Crows, Cobras or T'Blades for retail products. I can't imagine Easton licensing a holder to a competitor in the top end skate market and Bauer hasn't been willing to license to anyone.
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Can't get the Crows. However, the Cobras or t'blades make sense.
Jim A 4 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Everything will be speculative until they hit the market and/or more people get to use them. When these guys start the push to come to the market, I'm sure they will be visible and it will be interesting to see who's wearing them @ the NHL level if there is in fact a season next yearThe different holders probably represented what Otto, Berzean, etc were skating on before they mounted them over, although a Kor with a T-Blade would be pretty light...maybe they will offer it as a boot only as well for the adults? Buzz_LightBeer 974 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 I think their horrible lookin', but i do agree with what JR said about wide turns, etc
Chadd 916 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 Can't get the Crows. However, the Cobras or t'blades make sense. Who owns Crow holders? I haven't seen them lately
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 The design was too much like Tuuk (guy who designed them also designed the Tuuk), and Bauer sued (and won)
