When you connect to a wi-fi server, check out to see if it has a dns IP address listed. If it doesn't you are connected to their network but not the internet.

Oh, so it could be as simple as the network I'm on is 'Intranet'....with no outside access. Makes sence.

I recently bought an ipod nano. It's 8gigs but i have more than 8gigs in my itunes. I don't want all of the music in my itunes to be on my ipod so i made a playlist where i put all of the songs that i want on my nano in. Then i set the nano to "manually manage" and go from there. I was wondering if there is a way to make the ipod automatically sync from that playlist instead of always having to delete all of the songs from my ipod then readd them if i cant remember what i changed since last plugging it in.

Connect your iPod and Click on it in Devices. Click the Music Tab and check "Sync Music" then "Selected Playlists" and click the playlist you want to sync. That's the way I have mine setup. Any changes you make to that playlist will automatically sync/transfer when you connect it.

If anyone else had a better/easier way, let me/us know.

oh ok, i never tried that because i was under the impression that it would sync the whole library and then only that playlist. in case maybe you had playlists that you only used at home and didn't want them on your ipod

You may have to downl something from the App Store to get the icon or something.

I drove 45min to go to Grand-Falls because of some reason there are no Rogers Mobility Center in Edmundston (even if it's twice the size of Grand-Falls). I called them at the store before I left and they put a 16gb Black iPhone for me in the safe (I didn't want to get there and be told there were sold out) got there around 12h45. He started working on the activation and the system was total crap, I stayed there untill 15h and then I keft to get something to eat cause the system was going nowhere. When I got back there around 15h30 he started back the activation, the guy openned the box but instead of putting the iPhone picture in top he put the box on the side when he openned it and the phone fell right on the concrete floor, he and i cheked the phone and on the exterior the phone was fine but I wasn't sure about the inside. Around 16h00 and going thru the system slowly, he informed me the system had jammed again and he had to close all the computers and I could not get the phone today. He told me he was going to get another shipment of phones next week, so I told him he could sell the phone he had saved for me and I gave him my home phone number so he could call me on the next shipment (next week). So I drove back home 45min phoneless. Got here around 17h00.

sorry to hear that man. hopefully they wont drop the next one! good luck hope ya get one soon cause they are sweet! luckily, i was in and out of the at&t store here in 10 minutes with mine (8gb), but waited in line for 12 hours with a couple buddies (we were first 5 in line). The new applications are awesome.

Got my Iphone this morning at 8:15. Camped out 2:30AM this morning. It was a lot of fun. I got my phone activated (I was #6 in line out of about 100) and havent had any problems. Sucks for all you guys having problems. Hope they get resolved.

Well they had one on display so I had the chance to play a little with it, I had second guesses before going there, I thought of maybe buying the 32gb touch instead but that thing is too sweet to pass out. It's worth the wait. My eyes were big like loonies when he dropped it on the floor, but he will sell that one to someone else, so I'll get a non-dropped one probably next week :P. What do you guys plan on getting for a case? I'm thinking about buying some Apple Socks for now and getting a Iskin Fuze when they come out for the 3G.

best protection EVER. Had it on my BB and its amazing. Thin and extremely durable. They use it for military rotar blades. I personally HATE cases, so I use this. If I have to use a case, I use the clear plastic one.

i got some little gelskin case for now, but ive read about this military grade material called apache or something that they are making covers or something out of. they covered an iphone in it (overkill wrapped, so more than the retail would be but still) and put it in a blender and the iphone survived, and the case suffered only minor damage. But thats what ive heard from a friend, havent seen it personally, but im interested.

edit: just found the link from a friend its a high grade scratch guard, but not a case, and hard to apply or get off, but effective. Also see: Invisible Shield as another great one. Yeah i didnt get a chance to get to the apple store to see their cases yet but thanks kovalchuk71 for that link, definitely will look into those!

Word. The apps are great...the Remote app is freakin' awesome. Cant wait to see what else they are gonna release.

I got mine (Black 16gb) around 9am after waiting in line since 6am. Unfortunately the servers were down and i couldnt get it activated till like 5pm at home.

Damn... that's crazy. On launch day, I walked by the Boylston Street, Boston store and it was complete madness. I got a little worried, because I was going to attempt to get one until after work, when I picked the wife up at the mall she works in (also with an Apple Store). I got to the mall around 5pm, and there were about 10 people in line. I got an 8gb in about 45 minutes. I guess a lot of people in line left when iTunes shit the bed.

I was playing with my 1st gen iPhone with 2.0 all day at work though... I love the apps. I was using Pianist to play a little at work... it was a slow day. haha. The good thing about the entire day, was my 1st gen iPhone sold for $230 on eBay with a Buy It Now price in 25 minutes... so I broke even. I could have probably gotten more, but I just wanted to recoup the money spent, and sell it as fast as possible.
