pantherfan 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Is this actual footage from the film "The Chiefs" or is it something someones made after? Was looking into getting the DVD but the last 4mins of the video above ^^ is some of the most depressing stuff I've ever seen, like Forrest Gump meets Sophie's Choice... Well maybe not that bad but still.

moose77 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2008 Anybody remeber a movie from the 70's that had Robbie Bensen as a hockey player-I think he got hurt and switched (in more ways than one?) to figure skating?First of all, it pains me that I actually know the answer to this question. You're actually confusing two movies. The one with Robbie Benson was "Ice Castles". That's the one with the figure skater(Lynn-Holly Johnson) who has an accident and goes blind. He plays her boyfriend Nick and he does play some hockey. At one point he's at a tryout for the Minnesota North Stars. I remember he got sent "to Lincoln" ("Where's Lincoln?")The one where the hockey player got hurt and took up pairs skating was of course "The Cutting Edge" with D.B. Sweeney as the hockey player and Moira Kelly as the ice princess. He messed up his vision in an eye while playing in the Olympics vs. Germany. I also remember he was like the only one on the ice wearing the Jofa Gretzky bucket. What can I say? I've been married for 15 years and occasionally I have to watch a chick flick with the wife to keep the peace!

chippa13 1844 Report post Posted May 10, 2008 in one of the lethal weapons, isn't there a scene where they go to a Kings vs Leafs game?Yes and no. The unies resembled the Kings/Leafs but apparently they didn't get permission to use logos and such."Terror goes into overtime." Van Damme and Powers Boothe? Unbeatable.I don't know what was worse about that movie, the 10 seconds to get into goalie gear or the colored stripe around the helmet of the Ulf Samuelsson-like player. interpathway 9 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 anybody else love how in youngblood when dean puts the puck through his legs and topshelf at the end of the movie on the goalie, the lights and sirens dont react until the puck comes to a COMPELTE stop 100% over the goaline even though us hockey nerds know that it was a goal a good ten seconds ago? sabby47 2 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 "The Deaths of Ian Stone" had some hockey in it and actually wasn't a bad horror flick. Anyone seen "No Sleep Til Madison"? I made the mistake of purchasing that one. I watched it with a few teammates and we ended up having to shut it off.. oy

Shark#81 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2008 The Guru is definitely worth seeing, are u kiddin' me. read the specs: top comedy master and die-hard leafs fan makes a movie about his hometown hockey team!! & they win the cup.the on-ice sequences are pretty funny and crazy slick-impossible to do. how did they shoot it? the media has not given this flick a break from day one, in part i think to the main character's origins (foreign) and the don't go there over the top jokes.destined to be a hockey classic, at least in to. for our game blog this year i am assuming a new alias ....the guru jagu-bar. Ice Pirate 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 Youngblood is the best hockey flick. To this day I watch it and do not see anything horrible about it like some people say. Ok...maybe the stick fight is corny...but that was still pretty cool, lol.
HattrickSwayze 3 Report post Posted October 15, 2008 We all know Slap Shot is a classic, but The Rocket was actually pretty good too. A bit dramatic, but a good movie biography of Maurice Richard. I wanna see Les Chiefs, and that movie I saw a preview of a while ago about rec league players in Dallas I think it was. It looked pretty entertaining. I think it was an independent movie, I saw the preview on a website.
