What other sports do you play?

Recommended Posts

Hockey isn't my only sport.. in fact, its not even my best sport.

I have played soccer my entire life (gradeschool through college, now competitively for a travel league.) Its my true passion. I will post up pics from newspapers I have been in and articles about teams I have been on later tonight or tomorrow morning.

I also play a lot of volleyball. I won the 2v2 annual tourney every year with my friend Stephan in highschool and have come pretty damn close to doing it in the college leagues/ intramurals.

I play rec raquetball (mostly to keep in shape.. not really great at it, but I hold my own against the old farts at the rec.)

and I play city sponsored company softball (left field) for work.

Back at home, I played football (soccer) from I was 3 through I was 21. I coached youths (under 15) until I was about 21 also. I played for Ballyraine, and have local and county titles.

I also surfed back home, living about a 25-45 minute (depending on the break I was going to) it was great.

And I played rugby in school, as well as gaelic football and hurling, but being from donegal sucked out loud at hurley, but gaa I was ok at, but didn't make the top teams, made the top teams in rugby and football.

Also hold the Donegal county record for quickest red card ever. My friend stevie was fouled hard, and had to come off and was hurt bad. I have a bit of a temper and was wearing 3/4 steel studs (was raining, so long steels were allowed at this stage).

And as soon as the ball was dropped (bounce ball, no foul called, thats what pissed me off the most) I waited until the guy got the ball again, and met him stud high to the thigh. It was a cheap move, but I felt it was justified as he was laughing as stevie was carted off the pitch.

Red card 2 minutes and 14 seconds into the game, and a 5 game suspension for intentional foul

I played tennis from age five through four years of college and then quit at about age 21/22. I played soccer until I blew my knee during my junior year of high school. It made the decision to concentrate on tennis quite a bit easier. Now I enjoy weight lifting and would like to get into highland games or strongman type competitions but don't have the sack for it. I also throw the javelin in my spare time. My dad is the national champion javelin thrower in his age division (read: OLD FARTS). I just throw to keep up with him. I also like MMA, and am getting into some yoga, although that may be considered a sideline to support all my other interests. I did triathlons for a few years as well as competitive road cycling (I suck at moutain biking).

Hockey is main sport by far. I also play varsity HS tennis and i'm pretty good at that. I used to play paintball on a tourny team but quit that because it was too expensive :( Just mess around with a little lax too.

Indoor volleyball is my true number one passion. I think I'm better at it than I am at hockey.

Golfing is the summer is pretty key as well.

As a teenager I played hardball, as a kid I played a bit of organized soccer as well, rollerhockey, ran track and also played pickup basketball, football, volleyball, and hacked around playing tennis with friends/family. Now I play coed softball, rollerhockey, and icehockey. While hockey is my favourite sport I'd have to say, when it came to pickup at least, my best sport was probably football - I haven't played a minute of organized football, but when I played with or against friends who were on the highschool ore even university teams I did pretty well - I don't have a very good arm, but I can run like hell, have decent size, can tackle well and can catch a ball. I just never had a passion for football (or any other sport really) like I do for hockey.

Inline hockey and ice hockey are my major sports in that order.

I also play golf (professional driving range person - i've haven't hit the courses in years), paintball (I got into it for a month but stopped due to the costs), and Flag Football (but my team doesn't do very well so I stopped after 2 tourneys).

Weightlifting is my other passion.
