KOR Shift 1 and 2

Recommended Posts

just got my 11's in. according to the foot chart i was in between a 10.5 and 11 for both feet. they seem a little big for me, but i dont know that it is enough for me to return them, especially being as i think a 10.5 might be too small. they are wide, and being as i have a wide foot i like it. i do feel pain in the inner ankle area, but i would think baking would take care of this.

Hey this question is for SRI,

I want to order the KOR's from HG, but I would prefer the Pitch 3 Holder over the Custom +

Can you help me with that in size 8.5

Thanks

jgiovanni,

You could just call them and do the order and tell them that you specifically want the Pitch. I think other people posted in here somewhere that they did that with no problems.

I ordered them online and wrote in the note section that I wanted the Pitch 3 holders. HG gave me a call and said that they can't guarantee that. The order is now on hold. I have sent a PM to SRI. Hopefully he can work his magic.

First post, lurker since 2005!

I have also sent a PM to SRI, that is why I was questioning. I do not want to order skates only to have to try to switch them to the pitch holder.

Thanks Everyone

Has anybody had any issues with the toe box liner part of the skate? On one of my Shift 1 skates, the seam/stitching where grey lower is attached to the black upper part that makes the toe box liner is about 1/2 of an inch too short and falls almost in the middle of my toes. The upper probably stretches as I can feel the plastic of the toe box the same way without issues. Also, how far is footbed part of the lines unglued on other Kors? Mine goes back almost 2 inches. Is it about right or will it continue to peeel back with use?

Just to confirm, all toe box liners on Shift 1 are loose fitting, they are glued to the box only on Shift 2 model, right?

Many thanks.

Kor Shift 1 is the s#%t! Just skated on them tonite and they felt awesome! Best skates I ever skated on. I did have to bake them twice to my narrow heel and wide forefoot. I've had Graf G5 8W and Easton S15 8W and the Kor 9D has fit the best. Pitch 3 holder is stiff and radius is spot on with a 1/2" hollow. I feel alot more confident in my skating. Highly recommended skate. I also highly recommend fitting the skate by molding the outside to your foot right after after baking as it cools down. Miss the lightness of the S15 though.

Hey just ordered a pair via Hockey Giant. Just a quick question, do any of you guys skate with the Tuuk Holder.

Can you please give me what the main difference between the Tuuk and Pitch 3 is.

Thanks

I kind of prefer the Pitch holder so I am hopingf SRI can make that happen with my order.

Custom+ is softer and has a more heels down profile. PITCH is stiffer and has an adjustable PITCH. The steel on PITCH is also much better.

i baked mine twice. they are a bit bigger in the toes, but i had a feeling if i exchanged them for a .5 size smaller they would be too small. i used the easton sbx's previously and they are tight toward the toes, these are not, great feel. only problem is the ankly area. my foot is apparently taller than Kor guessed it would be, so my ankle is a little above their ankle padding. this means that where the composite boot curls back in, is right up against my ankle with very little padding.

skated on them and my balance was way off, turns out the way i normally tape my shins was interfering with the mobility of the skates, after i removed the tape, the skates were great. they felt different but i had a great game with them.

If the ankles bother you, you can rebake the skates... tape (or stick under your sock) the blue wafers on your foot where you have pressure points before refitting the skates. This will push the composite away from your ankle bones and relieve the pressure.

I have pair of Shift 1 Kor skates on the way to me. I have a leg discrepancy and want to place risers under the holder of the right skate to fix the problem, is this possible with this skate? From what I understand the skate has something similar to the Graf RMS screws, is it going to be a problem to take them out? Will I have to get longer screws? Any help would be greatly appreciated?

very easy to remove the holder (requires hex wrench) - but you'd probably need to get longer screws before re-mounting holder.

"These skates will have either a TUUK Custom+ or a Pitch 3 holder. We unfortunately cannot determine which holder you will receive with your order or take requests for a specific model. If this is an issue please do not order these skates" --- HG

What stupid customer service!

Yeah, it does suck as far as the holders go. The first pair I ordered was to small, and came with the pitch holders. I should get the new pair tomorrow, so we'll see. I normally skate on custom+ anyway, so it's not really a big deal to me. Worse comes to worst, I'll see about putting heel lifts in.

it does seem like it would be easy to check before shipping, but keep in mind that these are clearance skates at an amazing price. spending $50 on holders and swapping them yourself at a total cost of $250 (and 15 minutes of work max) is still an awesome deal, plus you have an extra set of holders.

also, the fact that custom+ vs pitch3 to the vast majority of people would be more of a preference than a dealbreaker probably makes this a no-brainer for HG. besides, they're not known for their customer service in the first place :]

Ok guys, I got my Kor today and am wondering what you think. I got a size 8, but they sent me 8.5D. Do they look about the right size? Id rather not send them back, I need them for this weekend. If they look too big though, I will send em back and borrow a friends pair of skates for the weekend. (This is with my weight on the foot)

From everything I've read about proper fitting on this site and in other places the foot should go right to the end of the insole with nothing showing so yes, that looks too big. Not waaaay too big, but somewhere between 1/2 and 1 size too big. Could you skate with them that size? Sure, I've used skates that have had about that much space at the end of the footbed (like the 8D Nike VForce skates I used a while ago and stil have kicking around at home when I should've been a 7.5D in those), but they won't give you the maximum performance and with a skate like that the concept is zero negative space so you'll want to get the perfect size to get the most out of the skates.

I'd borrow your buddies skate over the weekend and send those back for an 8 if you can. I saw in a previous post you mentioned you're a 7D Nike and 7.5 Vapor, well I believe my correct size in Nike would be 7.5D, I tried on 8EE Vapors once that seemed to be my size and currently wear 8.5D Kor Shift 1 that fit better than any skates I've ever worn so based on that I'd say you're likely a size 8 (but I've never tried on a Shift 2 so can't be positive)...so I think you did order the right size is you ordered an 8 in the first place. If you were sent an 8.5 when you ordered an 8 you should call the company that sent them and let them know. Since it's their mistake you may be able to convince them to pay for your return shipping at to express ship out the new ones.

Judging by that picture, youre going way off the side...might be a problem for width, but I dont know how the skates take when they bake, I know they are supposed to form to your foot, so who knows.

On the length issue, you can try and order another pair half size smaller, but those looks close, almost like 1/4 sizing. Still, I would order up the smaller pair and just check see.

Why not lace them up and kick your foot all the way forward? Then from the back, you can see how much room would be in the front if your heel were kicked back?

Don't go by insoles.

Why would you need lifts? Tuuk and PITCH are the same height
