I've been waiting for this to happen for so long. I had a huge smile as soon as I saw him throw that crosscheck to get it started.

Not to often do you see the fancy playmaker in a fight. I would think they steer clear of all that and just stick to their game. Looks like he wants to be the all around idolized player.

Not a bod showing for AO. Nice to see a skilled guy get fired up like that.

BTW, anyone see his hit on Gonchar during the lockout? Nasty hit.

It looked to me like Richards isnt even the man that Ovechkin wanted to fight originally. I thought that Richards jumped in to defend his teammate.

Go figure, Gauthier wouldn't even fight Ovechkin.

Richards is who ovey wanted to fight, he went in and pushed gauthier, but after what richards said at the 2004 world jrs. ovey has been looking for a chance to get even

Guys you should know,

I guess its the same with crosby, although i have seen no evidence, but isnt that the reason why they brought Cairns in?

What was it that he said? That he rolled over and died in the Gold Medal game because he was scared?

When Mike Richards was a Philadelphia rookie, he publicly questioned the ability of Washington counterpart Alex Ovechkin to take the physical punishment that goes with the NHL. He based his assessment on Ovechkin injuring a shoulder in the World Junior championships in 2004.

The Caps rookie never responded. Last night he let actions do the talking as he took on Richards. The Flyer won the fight but Ovechkin answered a lot of questions around the NHL about his physical makeup and whether he would stand up when needed.
