Does anyone here like to collect sticks?

Recommended Posts

I do not consider myself a gear whore, but everytime I go to my LHS, I have

this desire to buy a new stick everytime. I've basically controlled that desire so far, but I don't think I can hold out for ever. Anyone else like to buy lots of sticks?

I always want to buy a new stick when I see what people say about it, even just after I bought a new one, I become mad knowing that the one I 'missed' may have been better. I usually just buy one after my primary stick breaks, but In the future when I actually have a fair amount of money I may buy more at a time just to try, but It seems quite redundant to have a couple sticks and only 1 that you really like, so it's probably not a good Idea.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the people that are on this board like to collect sticks just take a look at the show it off topic. I consider myself a stick whore but I've learned to control myself, because I usually don't have the money.

Last count I was at 13. I'm constantly scouring ebay for sticks and gloves, but rarely do i actually buy. Usually only if it's a good deal.

I look more than I buy too...but I've still got more sticks than I need (And I'm not near 13 yet...)

I had a massive amount, above 13. Although I will have to come clean and say its not from LHS, but ebay.

But I sold almost all of them on here cause I realized I was running my moms credit card down.

Everytime I'm on this site I'm looking at all the sticks for sale, even though I don't need anymore.

When I break a OPS, I flip it and stick a blade in the end and put it in the pond/street hockey pile, unless it was a good one. And then I go and buy another OPS.

Just wait until Buzz and Ponty chime in. I was at a point three or four years ago where I had close to every high end stick on the market. Now I haven't bought a stick in a few years.

Okay...this is where my OCD REALLY comes into play.

When I buy sticks, I usually buy two or three - almost never just one, unless I am replacing one I just broke. I always have to have at least three, usually four, "usable" twigs handy - all of which must be the EXACT same stick cut to the exact same length; and I don't typically use any model stick for too long. I've just started working on the Mission Pulse Grip. Let's see how long before I switch again...

Yeah, I buy a lot of sticks, but I don't really have too many lying around.

When a stick is deemed to be unusable (I'm very, very picky when it comes to this), I get rid of it - either by throwing/giving it away or selling it to a buddy for a couple bucks. I don't turn my OPS into shafts if the blade gets broken or goes soft...the whole thing gets chucked. With the exception of a couple that are now put to use in the street, I don't keep any of my "unusable" sticks around the house.

So, yeah, I'm definitely a stick whore. However, if you were to come over to my house and do some snooping, you probably wouldn't find too much evidence against me...

I'm a stick whore, but hate haveing more than 3 sticks.

Atm I have 6 shafts/OPS and it buggs me everytime I'm down in the basement and see that 4 of them I only use once in a while for pratices or pondhockey, while the 2 last ones are my primary sticks.

But I like trying the newest top-end shafts on the market, so now I've come to a comprimise.

Will play with these 6 sticks untill all of them break, then I'll keep buying top-end shafts in bundles of 2, and when they break it usually fits with a new model hitting the market.

Was on 8 sticks 2 months ago so I'm going in the right direction. lol

I was going to list mine out like Ponty then realised that it's sickening how much I need to get rid of sticks.

I don't like my pile of sticks that's racking up, but they're all pretty much woodies or cheapies so it's cool.

I bought a lot of wood sticks trying out different curves and lies until I found something I liked. Now I've got a bunch of sticks I never use...so I can't justify a nice bakckup for my OPS :D

Now I'm waiting for the ponds to freeze so I can go wreck them practicing my slap shot.

I was bad... I was up to 8 OPS', until I got rid of a few I didn't like or use anymore. A few guys in my pickup hour wanted to look into an OPS, but were reluctant on paying the big bucks... so I sold a few, maybe I'll get them addicted. haha. For the sake of my engagement/marriage- I'm down to 4.

ponty: Do you still have the pics of your stick room? That was damn impressive. I think it doubled as a garage didn't it *L*

I do and it was / is a my garage. Still have the same setup with not quite as many sticks.

Maybe I can take updated pics later ...
