iPhone Controversy

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this should have been in the iPhone thread itself, or if it deserved it's own thread. If not, the Mods can merge this with the iPhone thread. Has anyone heard about the controversy with the Mayor of Philadelphia waiting in line to recieve his iPhone? Here's a story.

What do you guys think? I personally think he has every right to be there, as long as he is still handling his duties as the Mayor of Philadelphia

They honestly must be so absurd to believe that he is not alowed to spend anytime not at work. Like really he is a nomal person working regardless of his proffession he is allowed to have time of like every other working person.

Agree with whats been said but still, I would of thought he could have dragged someone elses sorry ass down there to do it for him...

I think the fact that he didn't warrants a bit more respect.

He cant have personal time? This is ridiculous...

I agree completely, he can do what he wants, he shouldn't be restrained because of his job.

And what better way to do that then with the new iPhone? He know what's up.

Street left the line at about 11:30 a.m. to attend a speaking engagement at a teen anti-violence luncheon where he admitted he wasn't dressed properly for the occasion.

"I knew I was going to be come here today, and I got this call saying, 'Are you coming, we need you now,' so I didn't go back to city hall to change," Street said.

He left a member of his security detail holding his spot in line while he was gone. I'm willing to bet that person was being paid by the city at the time.

Showing up at an anti-violence affair dressed in rain gear also shows a problem with his priorities. Not that we should be surprised, this guy is just as crooked as Rendell was when he was Mayor.

it is very unprofessional, especially for a man in his position. It's like the president coming in from playing in a sandbox with sand all over his face to deliver a speech.

Sorry if I don't understand, but Chadd. How is dressing in rain gear crooked?

That comment was in reference to his priorities, not his choice of dress. In PA we pay a lot of taxes and a big chunk of it seems to go to bailing out Philly's financial problems.

I love seeing stupid people being humiliated on prime time TV like that. Serves her right for tying to scam people (i.e. Scambay)...

I almost wish they did let her spend 100k on iPhones and then see how badly she loses her ass on eBay.

Brilliant move by Apple to not let anyone know how many would be available. They created fear in people they had to get one early or they'll be sold out. The two stores in Austin are sold out now but they're getting another shipment very soon. (that's just Apple stores, no idea on AT&T stores)
