Jordan 13 Report post Posted October 22, 2007 The sticks are sent to Canada by US corps..that is why they are subject NAFTAFurther, if a Canadian company wanted to have a batch made in China they would not be subject to duty. (Other than GST which they get back in the form of a credit)If a Chinese company wanted to sell sticks here, they also would only be subject to GST. The only goods from China that are subject to import duties are those that are subject to anti-dumping legislation...hockey sticks are not on that list. The list only includes a few items currently: waterproof rubber footwear; women's leather and non-leather boots; bicycles; garlic; hot-rolled carbon steel plate and sheet; waterproof footwear and bottoms; leather footwear (metal toecaps); xanthates and steel pipe nipples, couplings and fittings.Sticks are more expensive in Canada because there have not been the proper adjustment for the massive change in exchange rates that have taken place over the past year.Cars, even those manufactured in Canada, and sold in the U.S. currently sell for about 20% less in the U.S. My business partner just bought a new Honda Pilot for $14,000 less in Buffalo than he could get it for here. Oh and that included "the duties" which are only GST and PST which he would have had to pay here (although on a higher price) anyhow.
MLSman 22 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 I used mine for the first time tonight.I would agree that the balance of the stick is the best I ever felt. Even thought it is a little heavier than the XXX Lite, when you hold it in both hands it feels very light....it's hard to describe, but it is very different than any other twig I have used. Other sticks feel "blade heavy", but the XXXX feels even.I also have to agree that I need to get used to it, because it responds different than the One90. It is certainly whippier, and will take some adjustment for passing. I will say though that my snaps and wristers were lots of fun. Tons of velocity.
budro727 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 yea you are right it is whippier than the one90 i do have to still get used to it but its the best stick i've ever used
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 Considerably "more fun" than the One90? I'm trying to find something that doesn't torque as much.
Jason 65 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 perhaps the Stealth S17 with Torx technology is the right stick for you Cavs. Weren't you pretty big on the CNT's?
MLSman 22 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 Considerably "more fun" than the One90? I'm trying to find something that doesn't torque as much.Actually I use both. The One90 is "more fun" for slap shots...I can crank the hell out of a shot with very little effort. The XXXX on slap shots doesn't have the same ease...I find I have to really whip the stick around and put a lot more effort into a slapper. It is almost the opposite for wristers and snappers. At jungle hockey today with the Malkin curve in close to the net I was able to toe drag from right to left and roof the puck far side countless times. It felt easy to control the puck. The One90 takes more work to roof the puck in close for me. I also noticed something I have not felt in a while...minor vibration...but more a dampened vibration...when cradling a hard pass. With my One90, when I catch a hard pass...it is pretty stiff, so if I am not careful and make sure I pull the blade back to cradle the puck, it frequently will lead to me having to stick handle or just chase the puck as it pops off the blade. With the XXXX, I took a super hard pass and had no time to react because it was coming between my legs...I just put the blade down stiff and waited...wondering what the hell was going to happen. What I felt was a minor vibration in the shaft, but to my surprise the puck just stopped right there. The blade absorbed the hard pass and you could feel it work its way up the shaft. It was really cool...kinda smiled when it happened. Not a :) but more like a B) One of those "can't wait to pull one of those off in a game" type moments.Anyway I digress for my moment of joy, but I can say I am impressed so far. I will keep both the One90 and the XXXX in the arsenal.
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 So basically if you have good hands the stick doesn't matter.
islesfan170 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 I got on the ice for the second time with my xxxx.It was alot better feeling the 2nd time as it almost is with every new stick. Snappers seem to fly off this stick. The 102 flex is very stiff which I like alot. It still has a little bit of a heavier feel but I like that. Just need to get used to it with the stickhandling and the NO grip that is there and i'll love it
MLSman 22 Report post Posted October 24, 2007 So basically if you have good hands the stick doesn't matter. Some might say that...but I can feel confident in the fact that I have pretty good hands. What I noticed is that in situations where you might not have time to react the XXXX so far has made control easier.

adam14 182 Report post Posted October 24, 2007 Has anybody tried the xxxx with the 87 flex, and if yes can you compare it to the 87 flex on the one90? Anybody who has a 87 flex one90 will kno that it is a very whippy stick, which i love, and have been thinking about buying a vapor xxxx 87 flex, although i am worried about the stiffness... EBondo 233 Report post Posted October 24, 2007 So it seems like the consensus is leaning towards the very good side. I'm hoping to pick one up in a couple of weeks, but am trying to decide between the 67 and 77 flex...

Anybody who has a 87 flex one90 will kno that it is a very whippy stick, which i love, and have been thinking about buying a vapor xxxx 87 flex, although i am worried about the stiffness...The XXXX will likely feel a bit softer due to the differences in the taper of the two sticks.
