That curve is impressive in person. I dont know how he doesn't hit the netting above the glass with every shot. I heard he curves his own stick sometimes before games and if he does not like what he did he donates his sticks to charity or gives it to a young fan.

ovechkin curves all his sticks by himself, thats the bigggest curve of his i ve seen. im sure that usually there a bit smaller then that, and his un-toe-curved curve is sick as hell.

I'm not to sure that he curves his stick by himself as they are made of composite and they more than likely come from the factory with whatever curve he wants already on them. CCM could easily just make his pattern for him and for a fact they had a video on their site last year where they give him a batch of his sticks and he checked out the curve and liked it.

there have been numerous videos posted of players curving their sticks.. its not out of the realm of possiblites that oveckin heats the blades and curves it himself.. i mean if he wants to try a new curve, do you think he wants to wait the week or how ever long it takes to get the sticks made?

If everyteam does that shirt off your back thing, where are all the pics. I've been to a few of the other teams sites to see if there are pics but I couldn't find any. If you have of pics other teams shirt off your back nights post it up.

I don't see him doing that as the blade will just break, and I'm certain that CCM has many patterns in stock for him, it's not like he adds another variation to his curve every game. They just ship him a stick with a different curve if he wants it but he likely just uses the same curve for a while.

CCM gives him "his" pattern, but sometimes they aren't exactly as he likes them. As each stick is not perfect, there are deviations in every stick. He may heat it to fit his own specs.

You can heat a comp blade and still keep most of the integrity. If he knows what he's doing he wouldn't worry about it breaking.

It will break, I've done it before and so have other people:bottom post pictures

I know each stick isn't perfect but they just make him another and another until they get it righ and they make a bunch. And with the strength of his shot and the amount of stress he puts on his shot it would break for sure.

Check out his sophmore sensations vid on youtube. It shows him curving one of them.

You're really not getting this. First "getting it right" is relative as EACH SINGLE stick is different. To get an entire dozen exactly the same is extremely rare. While they might be close enough for many players, it might be a fraction of a percent of an inch too straight for their liking.

Also, Ovechkin seems like a very impulsive guy. He might decide to change things up an hour before the game, a little late for CCM to ship him a stick.

Also, there's video of him torching his blade, so unless there's smoke and mirrors, there's have evidence.

Him breaking it also could have been putting too much pressure the blade while using the vice as he didn't even use the stick before he broke it.

Your stick may have broken because you did it wrong. I don't know.

As a Ranger fan I've noticed Gomez switching between Dolomites and S17s recently after using an XN10 for as long as I can remember. I assumed that he had run out of them but it looks as though he must have been saving the rest of them for the playoffs. Tonight he's back to his yellow sticks; looking back it makes a lot of sense. I thought some of you would find this interesting.

Adrian Aucoin's gloves tonight - Warriors with what appeared to be red palms. What's the story (aside from the obvious "the palms are red")?

Also, Team USA jerseys at the women's world hockey championships - are these going to be the new Team USA Swift jerseys (and therefore, the exact same jerseys we can expect every other team to be wearing)?

usa_11984.jpg

Not a great picture, but they do sort of resemble hockey jerseys more than the previous ones, but on the minus side, they sort of look exactly like the Washington Capitals' Edge jerseys.

EDIT: You can just BARELY see Aucoin's palm here. You could distinctly see them on TV, though.

I saw one of the US Women in that US/Can game using a Blue Easton Typhoon shaft/blade combo? Those are really low end aren't they? Canadian Tire carries them up here.

He's been a UL guy for a long time.

I love UL's, but I want to try one of the older ones. My paint always chips off near the blade so I have to paint it. Are they really the same thing 4 years ago as opposed to the white paint scheme minus a clear coat?

Sorry to throw the thread off, I was always curious because I remember mack saying something about it a while ago.

The brown ULs were much better than the piss green and white ones. Yeah, graphics chip off on the later versions but it also didn't have the same snap and kick that the brown ones did IMO. I also just don't like the feel of having the paint over them, though that can be remedied in a couple ways.
