Your Favorite Tapered Blade

Recommended Posts

If i got free blades, i would say the Synergy II blade. Great overall feel in my opinion, but i broke 3 of them crazy fast. The dolomite blades however have been harder to break than a nicotine habit.

Synergy II, although I never had it for long enough to really test the durability, but it was WELL used by the time I had it and plenty stiff. Great feel and weight.

I have been using the Sherwood 950 , performance and durability both seem good. I am going to pick up a couple more.

Mission Pro-stock. Light, great feel, stiffest blade Ive ever picked up. They lasted me 3 months of 6 days a week playing before I finally pulled each one because they were so chipped up and cracking all over. But they were still stiff....believe it or not.

Any one know where you can find a pro-stock righty? Tons of clearance lefties....

Wood would get torn up... so I need something thats cheap.... or lasts forever... the Mission would fit that bill.

Thanks in advance.

Mission pro stock... btw do we know what blade that is modeled after or is close to? Almost all the blades I got are the same construction, one was laminated but was still the same style... although it was heavier.

I've used both the Synergy II blade and the Dolomite II blade, and I have to go with the Warrior. For some reason the puck just feels better on it.

I would say the old Innos have been my best all around blades. Now that their gone I would say the Easton ST. I have yet to try a TPS.

Im a strong believer in my sherwood RM9 blades. they make a tapered and a standard hosel version, which is sweet. The spezza curve cant be beat, im not sure anyone else out there makes a curve like it. Very mild, open-toe heel curve. Almost like a modified forsberg.

Hey Zales 17, does the RM9 have the long hosel like the Sherwood 950s? I love the 950s with the long hosel--wondering if the RM9 is worth a shot. Also, how's the durability? I stopped buying composite blades (mostly Eastons) because they were getting destroyed in a handfull of skates.

I've used Spezza woody 950s and was digging them alot. Could you take a pic? I want to see a composite version.

psh - no, the standard RM9's and the tapered RM9's both have a shortened hosel (which i had never seen before on a standard blade, but actually have come to really like this feature)

daca - im at work right now, and ill have to figure out how to get my phone to get a pic on the web (im a newb with the camera phone thing). but once I do ill post a couple for ya. I came from the 950 spezzas to this, and this curve is pretty different from the woodie 950s. its a more gradual opening up rather than the sharper "wedge" type of curve on the 950s. I suppose the angle and curve depth are the same, which makes the transition possible however.

Would love to see these. Sounds sick.

I love the Christian composite tapers. They are super light, and have the shortest hosel that I've seen. I love the feel as well. The #3 pattern(Drury clone) is just about a perfect clone.

The only issue is durability, and it has nothing to do with losing stiffness. They tend to get chips around the toe, which after repeated use get bigger until they crack. But, I'm not sure they're any worse in this area than any othe comp. blade.
