Pro Equipment Sales

Recommended Posts

Was there a week ago. They were pretty much cleaned out. If you don't get there the day of or a couple days later, they have very little.

Oh, and I just looked up the local Craigslist. By 11AM, someone already listed a bunch of stuff they bought at the sale for re-sale. Asking close to $180 for a used stick.....description said they were used "twice", yeah right, who the hell can tell how many times they were used......

I had a Salo Stealth in my hands along with the other three that I bought, just trying to decide whether to keep both Miller Ti Pro or not, and this guy came up to me and asked if I was going to keep it. I made my mind up and gave him the Stealth.... lo and behold, that's the Stealth that is being sold on CL.....

Bastard! it is a free country and there are no rules against re-selling, but I live in a fantasy world where the stuff goes to does who will cherish the item (sports memoribilia) or use it for hockey play.

I'd still be very interested in picking up a bucket with a visor. If anyone is going to a sale and would be willing to pick one up, PM me please.

Also just a visor, since a lot of teams don't sell helmets and I need one. I think they go for $10 at some sales, right?

Long time reader, first time poster.

I was just wondering for the guys that hit up the Canucks equipment sale last weekend or if anyone else on this board would know who would have the nickname "Mr. Potatoe head" on their stick since a friend of mine picked up a Stealth CNT for me. Thanks.

Maybe Alex Burrows got the nick after this story about him and Downey.

http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2008/02/al...d_mr_potat.html

What hand is the stick? The only person who I think used CNT's was Raymond if it was LH and Salo if it was RH but who knows there were lots of sticks there that people would never use in games.

It's a left handed stick. Not to be picky or anything, but when i was browsing through Getty Images for pictures of Mason Raymond, all the pictures showed that he taped the blade of his stick with white tape, but the stick that i got had black tape. I guess "Mr. Potatoe Head" will just remain a mystery to us.

Went to the sharks sale today at Logitech Ice (special early opening for season ticket holders). After going to the Pens sales the last 3 years, I was really impressed with how the sharks ran this. Much more organized and buyer friendly.

They gave a little speech to everyone before we went in and explained that they were going to be policing to make sure people weren't grabbing 10-15 sets on something and then sitting on it while they call friends and decide what they're going to keep. They also said that there was a 3 or 5 limit on jerseys per person... They also explained how they were going to be checking on ebay to see if people were selling the stuff off that they bought. I can also post the email they sent to everyone ahead of time on that if people want to see it. There was also a lot more room to walk around and try stuff on. The last few sales at the Marriot for the Pens were out of control with a mad rush and then no room to breathe or move once inside... I was lucky to get anything at those..

There was an amazing selection of almost everything... Tons of great OPS's (Almost all leftys so I just looked from a distance) and a huge selection of great skates and gloves... probably 60+ pairs of skates and close to 100 pairs of gloves... Tons of great helmets too.. If I was a wealthy man I would have bought a lot more.. but I just got what I could afford and use... amazing how many people I saw checking out with $3-5,000+ ahead of me... most game jerseys sold for $500 and up.

Bad news for non season ticket holders is that most everything was cleaned out and the only thing thats going to be slightly restocked are the jerseys. I think theres going to be another season ticket holder opening tomorrow for a few hours...

I bought home and away rbk edge socks (interested to see how they feel), CCM 5 roll gloves (no player name and I'm not a big sharks fan so I couldn't tell you who wore them but there barely used), and a bunch of underarmour/performance wear, tape and laces... everything came to $90

My buddy who I went with (the season ticket holder) got all the same type of stuff, plus Davison's NB 5000 helmet.. I'll try to get some pictures of it later.

Some nice pickups you got there. It's definately a steal at $90, I paid almost that much for just one pair of used gloves at the Canucks sale.

How much were the Edge socks going for?

How much were the Edge socks going for?

$10 for used, $15 for new in the package.

The guy at the cash register told me that a game-used Roenick jersey sold for $2K. Nabokov's was going for $1K. All I bought were some black knit practice socks, and a new garter belt. :D

They had a lot of gloves going for $90, but many also for $50 and even $20... the $20 ones were really beat but many of the $90 and $50 pairs were very close in wear... I think they made some mistakes on some...

Overall some great deals though.

Would there be any point in making it out the Sharks sale tomorrow (June 7) or is everything pretty much gone?

You might find something, but the Sharks sale has been open to special groups since Wednesday. I could have gone on Wednesday, but went on Thursday instead after my pick-up game, and there wasn't that much left. They had nothing but left-handed sticks, new and used gloves, old and new game-worn jerseys (most are players still in the minors), used old-logo practice jerseys, lots of RBK Edge socks in home and away, used knit practice socks in grey, green, white, and orange, about 5 pairs of fucked-up skates, a few signed sticks and glove pairs, new garters, new laces, some used white old-style CCM and Bauer helmets, etc.
