I like how you can get away with blatant interference haha. Hopefully they were playing on not so realistic settings.

That pisses me off more than anything online when guys check you down as the two players are both heading towards a loose puck - it sometimes gets called but not very often and so guys abuse the hell out of it.

They at least fixed it so the slash button calls a penalty almost every time - they need to fix that interference play too.

I never got the point of that in 08. It's basically the penalty button. If they had slash, why not hook/hold?

One of my bigger beefs with 08 is the fact that you can't use your stick and skate at the same time. I know NHL guys cam make a poke check while skating, I can even do it!

when they show demo or gameplay footage the settings are usually cranked down so they can show you 'everything'

The interference pisses me off too. It seems that when I play against the computer, I always get called for it, but the computer doesn't.

the worst for me in nhl 08 is when you send a pass up the middle and the player whom you are passing to gets hip checked WAY before the puck gets to him and it's never called, sometimes they even call me for icing.....lame

if there ends up being a MSH squad for 09 =) id love to play to. I dont have a lot of friends that play nhl games so Its hard to find a squad that will stick together. Ill play anywhere

That's true- it's sort of a stupid button. The only time I think of using it is if a guy might have a breakaway and you want to take a penalty to stop him. Otherwise guys just use it to piss you off at the end of a game if they're losing by a lot.

I don't play online- does each team have to confirm fights? I'd like that updated in 09, having to piss off or get the right opportunity for the computer to agree to a fight, and be able to draw penalties and fights in scrums after a save instead of just having dead time where players glide along.

As-is on 08 you can get 15 fights per game, but the fight sequence feels so arcade like. Triggers to do grabs, more of on ice gameplay transition, fight right off the faceoff in rivalry and playoff games, etc etc.

Yes hook was the A button. Many people also didn't know about the sprint button. It was click the left stick (like sprinting in Call of Duty 4)

i guess it all considers which controller settings you use. LB along with RB on defense is dive iirc. on default settings anyway

'08 was well worth it, even with it's "inconsistencies." '09 will be well worth it too, I'm sure.
