maybe they're playing bad on purpose to try and get GMGM to work even harder to move Nylander.... <_<

No it just proves that you better come out to play every game. Caps have been lucky for a good stretch of games this year where we didn't show up early and got lucky and came back.

Now its time to put in the dirty work and play harder. Yes, we've gotten bad calls ... so has every other team.

Caps have been playing with a sense of entitlement which I believe they haven't earned yet.

I'd rather them dig deep now and figure this out then in late march.

Judging by the highlights from tonight, who thinks that Green is an absolute joke of a DEFENSEman? I mean I love the guy as much as anyone for his offensive ability, but come on, what was he a -4 tonight? It cracks me up watching him in the defensive end. He's one of my favorite players but how can this guy ever reach his potential playing like that...

Sorry for being a little off topic. Just venting <_<

Wow, feels like some of their energy just vanished, but this is March, they need to get their shit together.....I mean, if these two games had come in November or December, no big deal, but this is a year when they're looking to do some serious damage in the playoffs. The momentum should be building now, not deflating.

And after just defending Ovie in the Cherry debate, this is what we get (Fedorov's goal)???? Down 5-2 with like 1 min. left in the 3rd??

Hopefully nothing serious....oye vey I hope not...

Ovechkin injured at practice Wednesday, 03.04.2009 / 12:44 PM / News By NHL.com Staff

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin limped off the ice during practice on Wednesday morning when he was hit in the right foot by a teammate's shot during a drill.

The Toronto Sun reported that the reigning Hart Trophy winner immediately staggered over to the bench and that his face was clenched in pain as he hobbled off the ice, wearing a skate on his left foot and just a sock on his right.

The extent of the injury isn't known, but Caps spokesman Nate Ewell told NHL.com it's "nothing serious -- nothing we're worried about."

The Capitals, who've lost two in a row, host Toronto on Thursday night.

Capitals Insider -Tarik said he walked off just fine no limping. So whatever that means.

Don't know what GMGM is planning today if anything. I didn't want Guerin but I didn't want him to go to the Pens more.

GMGM did nothing.... not gonna lie, i dont like our chances with the D we have right now.

Buy out nylander in the summer and sign someone who can actually play some D? that'd be sweet.

Well there still could be backlog of transactions but I tend to think your are right that GMGM tried to wait until the last minute then did nothing.

Of all the players that went I cannot say there are any I would've traded a lot for ... but wish a deal could've been swung for some D.

I guess the worst part was watching other playoff teams strengthen positions and add to it our crap play the last few games just leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

ok now official no moves:

Caps stand pat

The Caps did not make any trades today, according to a team spokesman. GM George McPhee will address the media within the hour. So check back for the latest.

-Tarik

Puck mover. Solid PP partner for whoever (Green/OV/Sem) finds themselves on the point. Defensively SOLID. A cross between Poti and Alznerish. It will definitely up our defence core though.

I don't know who you are thinking of but that isn't Pothier. He was the original whipping boy before Schultz.

Never. I still don't see Shultz as a whipping boy FTR. Pothier can move the puck like Poti (maybe not quite so well), and has no qualms about just getting it out of the zone. He is going to be one of our four solid top defencemen come April.

I dont care if he cant move a puck. I dont care if he has no use on the PP. All i want him to do is to be physical (i doubt it) and shut down some top scorers.

You won't get much physical play from Brian. I will say, I saw Jurcina finally using his big frame rather nicely against the Hurricanes. Erskine too in front of the net. Not sure if BB was preaching it, but I hope it stays.

He's a number four defenseman, at best, on most teams. I like him, and he will help, but I don't see him as the answer to their blue line.

Pothier was brought in as offensive defenseman that never quite showed the offensive side. His outlet passes were bad. Maybe that was a product of us being a bad team back then.

But the guy hasnt played a game in 2 years.

Let's not forget that after a year and a half of no playing...there are no guarantees of course...

But he is still a step up front Schultz, who I assume will move to make room for him.

I went to a stick and shoot at kettler today. Ran into OV on the way to my car. He was walking without a limp.

As details from GMGMs war room come out to the public, it looks like we were most interested in Pronger. Unfortunately we were asked to give up Alzner, Varlamov, and Carlson. Too steep a price IMO.

Well if that was the deal Anaheim wanted they can keep Pronger for 1 more year. I doubt GMGM given his character is giving out too much of the real details.

I really wish in hindsight we did make a decent offer for Klee or O'Donnell. Maybe Flash or Schultz +pick.

Oh well. I'm going to the game tonight and I hope they at least come out to play tonight.

Nyles is in btw but we don't know who is sitting.

In my opinion nyles should be thanking this organization for staying here and play his ass off ... but we will see.
