Lemieux trying to pull a comeback

Recommended Posts

Heard this on RDS last night, Claude Lemieux, 43 years old, is trying to make a return as a player in the NHL. Apparently, he has been working out very hard for 10 weeks now.

good for him if he actually can pull it off - i mean if chelios can play why not him?

i thought this was about mario at first - but i figured that would be pretty much impossible unless he got a heart transplant

Maybe he wants another crack at Draper...
nobody has his rights do they? maybe he will be picked up by detroit! thatd be incredible to see him in the NHL again, 43? wow

Are you sure that would be a good idea? I guess it would make it easier to get to him though. :o

Wasn't this guy pretty much useless when he retired? I want him back in the NHL like I want scrotal cancer.

Yeah, Chelios is still kicking at 44-45, but he's also nowhere near where he was 5 or 10 years ago, he plays with his head a lot more than his body now... And Claude TheTurtle didn't have too many brains IIRC.

Apparently, the stint on Pros vs Joes where he pulled his crap on average guys got his fire going again. The guy is and always will be a puke. I hope he comes back just so someone can tune him up.

Detroit would NEVER sign him. No way in hell.

I was thinking the exact same thing wehn they said that. There is no way in hell that the wings would ever sign him, rds was saying that the wings were looking to bring him in for some veteran leadership. lol

Agree 100%. Why even think about screwing up a championship formula with this old, over the hill, douche bag.

I bet Ken Holland got a good laugh when he heard that rumor.

As if they don't have enough veterans?

If anything they sign him and let him rot on the healthy scrath list just to kill his comeback.

And wildebeest- I guarentee Draper remembers, especially after all of the reconstructive surgery.

Maybe after he heard McCarty came back he thought he'd give it another go. I wouldn't mind seeing him sign with Colorado and just seeing McCarty rip him apart. Again. ^_^

Claude Lemieux has about as much chance of playing in the NHL as I do. This is just embarassing that he thinks he can do this. Working out for a few weeks, and playing NHL hockey are quite different, and I think he'd realize that the first time he got creamed into the boards by a defenceman, and it didn't quite feel the same as it did when he was 25.
