Lemieux trying to pull a comeback

Recommended Posts

Thruth about Lemieux's attempt:

Claude Lemieux has about as much chance of playing in the NHL as I do. This is just embarassing that he thinks he can do this. Working out for a few weeks, and playing NHL hockey are quite different, and I think he'd realize that the first time he got creamed into the boards by a defenceman, and it didn't quite feel the same as it did when he was 25.

Every person on the Earth can call him a douche bag, but to attempt a comeback at 43 is pretty amazing!

Making a comeback at 43 may be amazing but attempting one predestined to an embarrassing failure is far from smart.

instead of worrying about his hockey career he should worry about his family life... i went to school with his kid and the kid is a mess because his dad (claude) cannot keep his head out of his ass long enough to do anythning productive with life. he has a more than enough wives with plenty of kids to keep him busy. rather than trying to comeback to the NHL in an era that has clearly left his style of game behind

Its a tryout for their AHL team. It is highly unlikely that San Jose would decide to dress him in place of someone else on the roster, or call him up over somebody young.

Maybe as an extra body for the playoffs, but that's about all.

That's my guess--this is all about the playoffs. The Sharks have been a fantastic team for a long time, but continually melt down in the playoffs. No matter what you think of Lemieux, he has a history of playing a big role in the playoffs, and his teams win Cups. The guy is in the top 10 for playoffs goals all time, has won the Conn Smythe, and has won the Cup with 3 different teams. That record of success can't be just a coincidence. So, I suspect the Sharks are taking a real low risk gamble at improving leadership and grit for the playoffs. I'm curious to see what happens, but don't expect much.

You actually like Steve Downie? I'm not a religious guy, but if there is a "supreme being" somewhere, I hope he/she/it helps you.

...next you'll be telling us that you have an affinity for Sean Avery, eh?

Yeah, Downie goes several steps beyond being an agitator.
