Beflar

Does anyone else buy for hockey gear when they don't even need it?

Recommended Posts

I need to stay away from this forum!

I have 4 pairs of gloves, 2 helmets then one of everything else plus a couple wood sticks 2 shaft combos.

Nothing outrageous right? But every time I come I start to justify buying something new. I was unemployed (by choice) for 5 months, that zapped my savings. Right now I am not even on a team (yet, I hope) in Milwaukee.

It's like a virus in here! I read enough about equipment and I want to buy and try something new out.

Sold a pair of mission NME skates today and already almost bought another pair of skates. Still may but I am trying hard to fight it. I dont know why I have such a hard on for skates. So down to 6 pairs now

Decided today that I needed a new pair of inline pants even tho we only have 4 games left this season. Decided to go with the new Tour Lionheart pants but couldnt decide weather to get them in white or black... so I bought both!

I need help

I know its not gear as such but my fad at the moment is buying Hockey Jerseys, i have a:

Dundee Stars (MY LOCAL TEAM).

Colorado Avalanche (HOME).

Colorado Avalanche (AWAY).

Anaheim Ducks (HOME) Old Style.

New York Islanders (HOME).

Atlanta Thrashers (HOME) 2001-2002 Season.

Boston Bruins (AWAY).

2 Black practice Jerseys.

Im sure i saw a thread about what jerseys we all own a while back but cant find it at the moment, feel free to move MODS if you want to correct thread.

Also just bought a Clear Red CCM 592 Helmet with Cage and about to buy a new Stick and Gloves next week

I am like a window shoper but on online stores. The same day that I got may warrior gloves two weeks ago I knew what was going to be my next pair of gloves after I had been playing around on the internet.

I would probably have a gianat problem with this "buying without needing" if I wouldn't have my dad he almost flips one me everytime I go one store site if I have bought something before.

I seem to be a glove, stick, and skate whore. I also have a soft spot for older gear, so it makes it a bit cheaper than always wanting the new.

yup i got it, esp. w/sticks. my problem is that i not only buy high end sticks for play but lower end sticks because i like the graphics or they're a special edition or something. i also started (weening away from it slowly...) of buying sticks in pairs (1 for the ice / 1 for the collection). It's hard tho, i have a list of at least 10 sticks i want to get and it's not getting shorter. i also have a dumpload of jerseys (and that want list's even longer) but i just can't part with any of it...

current numbers: 4 shafts+blade / 8 blades (not in use) / 7 wood / 19 composite (hi & lo end) / 13 jerseys / 3 equipment bags (MSH one is the best)

damn you professional marketers!!! lol the less i play, the more i'm here on MSH and the more i want... helping the economy buy doing my part

Im pretty bad, I find myself buying "spare" equipment for stuff I really like in anticipation that I wont be able to get it anymore after it is out of production. I have a spare pair of Vector ZG130 ice skates and Tour Code 1 inlines just sitting brand new in the box in my room (because I happened to like both of those skates very much).

I also buy up every pair of size 8D Bauer RH 4000 roller hockey skates I find because I love (and still use) them for inline.

I have a pair of vector pro and vector zg4.0 ice skates (that i bought for parts) laying around so I have 4 total pairs of ice skates at the moment....

I really have a problem...

At least Im not as bad as some people on here, I dont have a stick or glove fetish, mostly just skates.

Yes, I bought two blades this past week because they were on clearance. And now I'm thinking about a pair of R8 Lites.

I got lucky...for the fourth time I went to the shop to buy R8's, tried them on, and realized I like my gloves better. Stupid tiny hands that don't feel comfortable in any retail gloves...

(In my opinion)Everything after the original R8 glove from TPS feels horrible, including the R10. I'm surprised you didn't like the fit though, the fingers are short. Too much volume in the hand?

Speaking of buying stuff when I didn't need it. I just had 4 pairs of gloves delivered in under a week and a replacement blade for roller... when I haven't played roller in over a year and have at very least 5 uses left in the two used roller blades I have.

It wasn't my fault. One pair was only $30 shipped, another was for a friend(even though he didn't ok it and I might have been stuck with them). Come on, you can't pass up a brand new pair of Fuel 130s for $60 plus shipping. haha

True enough, you can never pass up a good deal. I always tell people theres worse things I could be spending my money on if they say I buy too many sticks.

I really wanted to try out the R8 Lites (from what I understand, R8's with 50/50 nylon outer), but they only had R8 Pro Lites (full nylon with a cheaper palm) and R8's.

The R8's have a wonderful feeling palm, the R8 Pro Lites are very light, but both felt a bit big and bulky on my hand. I'm using some 06 Vector Pro's right now, which are like a smaller, slimmer version of the R8's, and of course are really nicely broken in.

I keep getting tempted with new gloves because these things smell so godawful, but nothing comes close to the fit. I will probably just spring $50 to get them re-palmed after playoffs in a few weeks here and ask if they can make them fit a bit tighter (the last re-palm made them a bit looser).

Oh yeah, and it's probably a good thing as I've got to buy a gift for my GF's b-day, plus our baby is due in the next month, and then apparently I'm supposed to buy something for her when she has the baby...
