B19Kress 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 So last night I was skating after a puck in the corner, and position on the guy and was closer to the puck. He ends up taking me down into the corner and we were both down on the ice. He starts yelling "WTF man" and proceeds to kick me in the back a few times with the bottom of the blade. I thought real hard about feeding him but I woulda got suspended for a while if you throw a punch. So I just got up and skated away. Any ideas what I should have done? Because kicking someone is BS!! #44wannabe 4 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 Fed him, why didnt the ref see the kicks?
reyno2ac 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 I've been kicked EXACTLY like that before, and I'm a goalie! Luckily for me the defense took care of it. In your position I think I would have waited till later in the game and given him a nice hard check!
Kevin 5 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 There is nothing worse than kicking--a two hander to the head is a justified response. I have a 6" scar from an unintentional kick. I was very, very lucky that no nerves or major blood vessels were sliced by the skate. The skate sliced into my calf muscle--putting me on crutches for weeks and then weeks of PT.Kickers should be ejected and suspended. Skate blades can be used as very dangerous and potentially lethal weapons.
#44wannabe 4 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 IMO anyone that kicks omeone else should be suspended for life from that league.

B19Kress 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 Fed him, why didnt the ref see the kicks? He got 2 for roughing... thats it, while I had a teammate check if I was bleedingWe play them again Wednesday in the first round of the playoffsGame got very chippy at the end last night anyways
tro 4 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 I'd have a hard time not attacking a guy who is kicking me, good restraint by you I guess with playoffs right away. But I would give him something at some point. Not overly dirty don't two hand him across the head, but if he has the puck, I'd just lay him out. Kicking somebody with skates is criminal.I play on a team with a guy who took a huge tomahawk slash that broke his wrist, requiring multiple surgeries. He is not a dirty player so he didn't slash back, but he waited 4 yrs for this punk to skate up the middle with his head down and he smoked the crap out of him and then reminded him why as he was skating to the box. I know nailing a guy in a non contact league ain't a nice thing to do and can lead to concussions which can be very serious, but at some point you remind a guy that if he is going to injure you, he better be prepared for the payback. Xyphereos 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 I got 2 minutes for roughing for "kicking" someone. Some kid gave me a late hit and fell on top of me and wouldn't get up, so I was trying to push him off of me and stand up at the same time and the ref (who happens to be the worst ref in the whole league and decided to follow me to high school) called me. Anyway that totally sucks that he didnt get kicked (PUN!!) out for doing that, at least you have the self control not to beat his ass.
dcdot377 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2008 i would be pissed and probably would not have thought about kicking the shit out of him. as a goalie i usiuall cant get into many fights but this would be worth the suspension or whatever. that kid is just a prick. if i were u, i would make sure that i am on the ice every time he is. then hit him hard

phunky_monkey 6 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 2 mins is light for kicking in my opinion. From memory kneeing over here is a suspension, or at least a game misconduct and what happened to you should be the same.
#44wannabe 4 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 Kicking is an automatic match penalty over here
KryptOng 9 Report post Posted December 9, 2008 I'm shocked that the ref ONLY gave him a 2 minute. Anytime a skate is used as a weapon, it's an automatic match penalty as #44wannabe stated. Glad to hear nothing serious and cuts happened to you. Did you have a good chat with the ref or convenor about it?
