AnthonyJTa 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 I usually listen to upbeat stuff on the iPod before I skate.... preferably Tegan & Sara "The Con", sometimes I just sing the song, and sometimes and I ad-lib my own lyrics to the tune of the songs.. this weeks was "Back In Your Head"... so I was singing "I just fell down on my asssss" to the tune of the chorus. I guess you gotta hear/know the melody to get what I'm talking about.

jarret_g 5 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 I mostly just referee now but i always have songs stuck in my head. Especially the ones they just play a few seconds of between stoppages. Sometimes i get caught singing out loud and that's sort of embarrasing. One time during a stoppage they were playing pokerface and i got caught singing it. One of the centres looked at me before a faceoff and was like "are you singing pokerface?" and i was like "yeah, you can do backup vocals if you want." He started singing too and then the other centre joined in. As linesman we're taught to coach players during faceoffs rather than just tossing them, so after the game i got supervised and the super was like "good job coaching them on the faceoff at X:XX of the 2nd period." I was trying to think of when i did that, but couldn't. Then afterward realized he was talking about the time we all shared the tune. It was pretty funny. crazylegs_9 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 We have our low-level mens league late on Sunday evenings, and I normally spend my sundays at home with my parents. They like to watch WKRP and Bob Newhart back to back cause there isn't anything on, so I usually head out on to the ice humming the theme from Newhart week after week, I find this pretty sad. Jarick 5 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 That happens every single game, and I've become conscious of it on the drive over. I try and listen to something a bit more heavy and energetic so when it pops up in my head and keeps me pumped.
chippa13 1844 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 I find that in the skates this happens to me, I am usually a little on autopilot and not really "into" the game enough.
furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted April 20, 2009 Almost every single game I've played in recent memory I'll have about a four to five word string of lyrics pop into my head and usually stay there the entire game.+1. Drives me crazy sometimes because it will be song I haven't heard for like a week.

brettlynch11 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2009 I think it was Sportscenter who did a piece on a NHL player who said he plays classical music in his head when he is on the ice. I can't remember who it was though. I personally don't usually have this happen to me, but if I do its always some annoying song that is currently popular. Single Ladies comes to mind. DCott 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2009 Yesterday I was doing some work in the house, and I had the radio on. For some (excellent) reason, they recently started playing those Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" commercials again all the time.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVKYmMgGCCsLast night, "Can I use your toaster" kept repeating in my head. Oddly enough I played great.
