Help out Mike Green?!?!

Recommended Posts

wasn't there some talk earlier in the year of easton and other companies bringing back older models such as the original stealth or the cnt if there was enough pressure from the public as well as the pros?

If thats the case, I'd be happy. CNT was the shit.

Fixed it for you. Now the '05 Stealth Grip, that was something.

Those were GARBAGE.

CNT's were a much better twig...

The CNT blade durability was suspect but the feel was actually pretty good compared to a lot of the new stuff.

More on Green's Lucky Stick

As you read last night, Mike Green's record-breaking stick, the one that was earmarked for the Hockey Hall of Fame, made it to Pittsburgh in time for the opening faceoff. But Green didn't use the Stealth because he said he had already decided to go with S17.

"I couldn't use it" in Game 6, Green said. "I just got used to the other one. To go back right before the game ..."

Apparently, the hall-of-fame stick wasn't the last Mike Green edition Stealth in the world, as I claimed yesterday. Green said at least a half dozen are supposed to arrive sometime today or tomorrow -- from fans and friends of friends.

"Somebody wrote something yesterday," Green said, referring to my blog post yesterday. "So [stealths] are coming in like no tomorrow. They're coming out of everywhere. Fans and one of the reporters even had one.

"I'll use [a Stealth] in the morning and see how it feels," he added.

Easton is getting a lot of ink out of this. They have to be thinking about an SMU or special edition at this point. This has been a publicity goldmine and without offering the old stick, it's essentially all negative about the new product.

So much better. Better feel, way more durable, more balanced .. right down to the paint jobs they were and still the best stick ive ever used. I have an se now its okay, but nothing will ever match the cnt.

I'm using a Drury 85 CNT right now I've had it for a while and it is by far my favorite stick I've used. I agree, awesome feel. I would definitly love it if they brought it back.

I lucked out and found another one last spring on sale and grabed it. When my current one goes I have a fresh one waiting in the wings.........

My local Dicks Sporting Goods had tons of these in stock just over a month ago just because nobody goes there for hockey equipment.. A kid on my team ended up picking up two and he's still using 'em.

Okay...who's the MSHer that gave him a stick??? *L*

CBC was just talking about his stick whoas. They said he went through 16...and has found 2 more...the HOF stick (that the trainer still had....) and one a fan gave him.

Assuming it ones of his pro stock sticks, it was one that he rejected for some reason once before.

At this point, he can use the HOF stick.... It just has to last 20 more minutes.

And watch it still break.

I believe Green uses a Sakic, so he may have had a retail back-up but I don't know for sure or if he would even like that. Just a thought.

Green switched to white tape on his S17 and has rotated between Easton gloves and Reebok gloves most of the year. It seemed like the Easton gloves first appeared after his record breaking 8 game goal streak. Interesting move...

This is pure speculation but the glove switch may have had something to do with Easton asking him to wear them in exchange for more sticks. The record stick was his last (or at least close to) CNT so Easton may have said they would make him more sticks to his specs if he would wear their gloves.

When Green broke the record and they asked for that stick, he still had about eight or ten in storage. I assume it was a marketing move by Easton as well (ah duh) but I'm not sure if anyone here knows what he got in return. Must not have been much considering he went back and forth with the Reeboks for the rest of the year.
