Matt Duchene's pattern?

Recommended Posts

On an "NHL Live" podcast interview, Matt Duchene explained how his personal blade pattern had loft on the heel and a hook on the toe, so that he can pull it in with the toe and rip his shot off the heel.

My question is, are there any blades out there today, at retail or prostock, that closely resemble his pattern specs? Or, for that matter, has anyone seen a Duchene prostock yet?

Well, I found a pic. Not great, but if you look at the angle of his stick you can figure it out. Really does looks like a straight wedge with a mild kink in the toe.

That's a weird one alright. If you're a lefty and want something similar try looking through monkey's pro stock blades.

Just so you know, that's not Matt Duchene. He's a lefty.

kris versteeg pro pattern is similar for rightys

Yeah, that looks very similar to the Toews Pro Stock Dolomite I had. Seems to be the popular curve in the show right now.

I had to laugh at the "heres a pic i found on google." You guys were probably thinking, what an idiot, can't even google to find an answer.

I'm just trying to decide if i want to pull the trigger on a warrior custom w/ ovi clone(which i have now on an 8k 75 flex w/ harrow p10) or a curve more like versteeg (duchene) shown above. Thoughts?

Thanks!

looks like a nice curve.. correct me if i am wrong, but isn't the hejduk pro similar but RH? I saw a bunch of his pro stock blades at my LHS but I didn't have a shaft at the time, so I didn't get em .. damnit.. they were only 30 bucks too...

Hejduk pro doesn't seem to have as deep of a curve at the toe, but same idea. Gradual heel curve, with a slight toe kink. I have a few sitting under my bed somewhere.

Hejduk pro is much shallower than the Duchene. It actually looks fairly close to the pattern I'm using, accept the wedge isn't as pronounced.

I'd try the Versteeg. I had Kremlin curve and it was a bit hard to get used to. The Versteeg seems bit more user friendly.

My friend tried the Versteeg and wound up throwing the stick into the empty bleachers by the end of the drop in. he's a bit of a hot head though.

What was he using before trying the versteeg?

and what stick was the versteeg on?

Duchene uses a pretty wild curve, and his sticks are 120 flex as well...so unless your a gorilla or like super stiff sticks you'd be better off finding someone elses pattern.
