Currently on a stick buying spree

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I'm on a hockey stick buying spree and I'm looking to add another one to my collection.

Which would be the best stick for the price?

Dolomite 08 $130

Mission Titanium pro stock Tremblay $100

NB One95 $190

NB Vapor XXV $80

Feel free to suggest something else

1.wrist/snap shots

2.durability

3.puck feel

I tried looking at some reviews but I still couldn't make up my mind. I sort of leaning towards the one95 right now but I need to make sure it's $60+ better than these other sticks. Oh, and I don't care about low/mid/high kick points. They never really affected my shot too much.

Thanks

I've heard good things about the XXV for it's price, but i would go with the one95. Where puck feel is a priority, this should not disappoint.

Sums it up.

I love the one95, especially for shooting.

been using the one95 for over a month now and it is the best stick I have ever owned (including the 08 dolomite from your list as a 2piece). The price is hefty, but you can find it cheaper than that on eaby or buy prostock like already suggested. You wont be disappointed.

Yeah, One95's the way to go. Like others have said, if you don't want to shell out the $180 look for a pro stock one. If you're not picky on a curve or flex, you'll have no problem finding one. My pro stock One95's lighter than the retail one I used, and the puck feel is just as good if not better. And I saved about $60-$80 too. Only problem is you get no warranty, so if yours snaps in a few games (like my first one did) you're up the river with no paddle.

There's also been lots of rave reviews for the two piece One95's on here, if that's a more attractive option.

I don't know what your level of play is, but honestly, the Mission Titanium pro stock @ $100 is a ton better value than the retail One95.

That Mission Titanium stick is one of the finest I've ever used, and I have used everything. I'm getting ready to do another order to try a few different patterns.

If you are dead set on getting a One95, definitely go pro stock. TSR has them for $105.

For that HG price, you can't beat the Vapor XXV. I swore I'd never buy anything with the swoosh, but I broke down and got one a couple of months ago. Best stick I have used in ages, including many top end OPS. Stick is light and well balanced, it has good kick and loads wristers exceptionally well, and the puck feel is extraordinary for an OPS imo. I'd get one while they last. My second one is coming tomorrow after I broke the blade on my first one.

I think TSR only handles in store or over the phone. I know they won't go to Canada. They have a facebook page you can ask on. Another option (if you're open to suggestions) is the Ballistik 52 Cal. Been using it for a month or so now and couldn't be happier with it. It actually replaced my pro stock one95.

Thanks all. I've looked on ebay but couldn't find one that I liked besides Briere's but I'm afraid it will be too short.

Does TSR have a website you can order off?

Their pro stock One95's are usually at least standard length and some will be extra long. Send a question via eBay and ask if you're interested in the stick.

I've used Dolomites the last year or so, just got a One95 and Vapor XXV, and have a Mission Fuel Pyro (similar to Titanium construction with a cheaper blade and shaft). I'm also all about the wrist and snap shots.

Dolomite:

1. Great for wrist and snap shots, low kick point, lots of kick to them, but they feel kind of stiff to me.

2. Outstanding durability, these things are tanks

3. Puck feel is okay, not great, kind of ceramic feeling, newer HD blades are better

One95:

1. Only used it a few times but not so great for wrist and snap shots so far, the kick point is higher, and it throws my aim off. I also can't seem to load it up as easy while skating. Hoping it breaks in more.

2. No comment on durability

3. Puck feel is excellent, best I've ever used in composite or wood

Vapor XXV:

1. Only used it a couple times, great for wrist and snap shots, low kick point, shoots exactly where I aim, good kick to it too, loads up easily.

2. No comment on durability, but it makes a rattling noise and a creak when flexing

3. Puck feel is pretty bad, pingy, hollow, empty feeling, worst I've used in OPS

Mission Fuel Pyro:

1. Not bad for wrist and snap shots, but way stiffer than advertised (at least intermediate), so I rarely used it, but it's very accurate.

2. Used many times and only a couple paint chips, great durability

3. Puck feel is very good, and I believe the Titanium Fuels are even better puck feel

If I were buying a new stick today it would probably be the Reebok 8k, not sure on the durability or puck feel, but the 7k had an amazing kick and accuracy for me and the 8k is supposed to be very similar but a little lighter.

For puck feel and wrist/snap, get the 10k. It's not the best ever in terms of durability but you'll love it...

I'm second to this - very surprised someone said above that the puck feel for XXV is awesome since most me including would totally disagree - the blade feels plain dead!

surprised you feel this way re One95 - truly to each his own since I just love the stick & my accuracy AND shot velocity is actually much better comparing with XXX lite & XXXX I've used before.

 This just goes to show how subjective this all is based on personal preference! Coming from a SWD RM19, the XXV's puck feel is amazing for me. The puck stays glued on my stick, the blade absorbs shock of hard passes and clearances, but stays lively on shots. I was so surprised because I expected it to be crap, and it turned out to be my No. 1 stick (at least for now). I guess you really never know until you try it out for yourself!

Stronger, heavier shooters are going to be able to take advantage of the one95's mid kick better then guys without the big wrist shots. I shoot harder with a one95 in all categories better then anything but i prefer a very blade light feel like a cnt stealth. The one95's are rock solid though and have great puck feel, the finish on them is good too.

they look/feel very similar if not exactly the same as the one95 blade and we both know their the mission prostock blade

I always felt I couldn't properly control the puck with a one95, always seemed the puck would jump off my blade, and the stick felt far too whippy when moving my hands quickly. Mine is a pro stock though, so take this with a grain of salt if you're looking at stock stick. Still recommending the Ballistik is you like something with a lower, snappy kickpoint and good feel.

It really is a shame about the XXV blade...if they just used a thicker blade like the One95 it would be an awesome stick for the money. It shoots great, but I kept thinking about trying to protect the lead and kept switching back to the One95, thinking I wouldn't want to miss a pass or not clear the puck. But I kept wanting to grab the XXV because I knew my wrist shot would be better...hopefully they equalize after they break in.

Bug me again in a couple weeks as I've got a tourney weekend after next and I'll be using both of these sticks.

Stick with the One95 for 3-4 games straight and you'll fall in love.

I have a XXV and I really like the way it shoots. Unfortunately for me the blade cracked after only 4 uses. The $80 price is nice but I'm hesitant to buy another. I think the blade should be more durable than that. I'm saving for a One95 or maybe the newer S19 or X60.
