Movies with good/inspiring speeches or quotes

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

My boss wants me to build a montage of sorts to rally the troops at our sales meeting. He wants clips about adapting to change, trust, believing, overcoming, etc. Basically inspirational stuff. Any ideas? Of course there's Rudy, Miracle, etc. but I'm also looking for suggestions beyond the obvious.

Thanks everybody!

Kenneth Branagh's HENRY V, Act IV Scene 3 - best inspirational speech ever written, and Branagh far outdoes Olivier i this scene (which is the only other movie version of any consequence).

Close second: HENRY V, Act III Scene 1.

Haha, yeah Adam I'm definitely using that one from Brooks.

And thanks, Chippa. I forgot to mention that I'm looking to use humorous clips as well.

Thanks, guys. Keep them coming!

Some off the wall ideas

- The opening Monologue delivered by George C Scott in Patton

- Bill Murray whacking the flowers in caddyshack... Cinderalla Story

- The scene in Airplane where Leslie Nielsen does a spoof of the "just win one for the gipper" speech

- Anything by the Drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket

- I am my brothers Keeper speech from Jules in Pulp Fiction

- Al pacino in scarface..... Every Dog has his day

End the clip with this the last scene of Rocky training where he runs through the streets of Philly and ends it on the steps.... play that and the score that acompanies it.... might be all you need

NSFW does not even begin to describe the level of impropriety...

Could probably find an old radio broadcast of Churchill.

Good luck finding one that is actually Churchill. Many of them were done by an actor

Yoda! (Empire Strikes Back --"... Do or do not...")

I can't watch it at work (most video blocked) but some reference to a video of 40 inspirational speeches in 2 minutes comes up from google.

Thats what I meant. Like, an old WW2 history movie that has an improv clip of this.

Actually, many of Churchill's most famous radio speeches were done by an actor, not by Winie himself.

Any of Peter Finch's on-air rants in Network. Amazing movie.

EDIT:

dug up one of them, enjoy.

"I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad."

This. Can't beat the St. Crispin's day monologue for rallying the troops, literally.
